Your Favorite Song Lyrics

Okay, not your favorite song. It doens't even have to be a song you enjoy, musically. Just lyrically. The following may not be considered my favorite lyrics, but it ranks pretty high, mainly because the subject of it annoys me, and I agree with the song, mostly.

I refuse to be led by the majority can't compromise I and I
To pass judgement
Judgement will be passed upon you
I will stand up for who I am
(Never moved)
Never moved by condemnation
No one is placed higher than another no matter race or creed or gender
We must teach forgiveness and compassion for all life
Through understanding of our differences
We will find respect
(For one another)
We are all flesh and blood
No one is placed higher than another no matter race or creed or gender
We must teach forgiveness and compassion for all life
I am not afraid to speak my mind
(No matter) the consequences
Stay true to myself through the humble eyes of a child
We will realize true equality
They cannot take me from me
They cannot take you from you
They cannot take I from I
They cannot take I from I
They cannot take me from me
They cannot take you from you
They cannot take I from I

Yeah, I know. But you don't see this kind of thing in mainstream musical artists often, or at least in popular mainstream. I really like this band as much as I do because of their lyrics. To me, they stand out.

Lyrics? Anyone?

Edit:

I hate editing lyrics when people seem to think that you know when parts of the song repeat...

Random bits of Arrogant Worms or moosebutter are really good.

Tiny snippet from "Captain Organic Veggie Man" from the latter:

"Captain Veggie, you're amazing!
Time to eat, let's start grazing!"

It's the little bits that stay with me.

Here, have you seen the new attachment on me drill?
I must have the cat put down ‘cos he's ill

Hey, neighbor!

My pink half of the drainpipe
I may paint it blue
My pink half of the drainpipe
Keeps me safe from

Whoops (**slod-a-dod-flip-flop**) here comes a spoon

(Spoken:) My pink half of the drainpipe separates me from the incredibly fascinating story of your life and every day-to-day event in all its minute and tedious attention to detail, and was it a Thursday or a Wednesday or—oh no it wasn’t so who cares anyway ‘cos I do not so Norman, if you're normal I intend to be a freak for the rest of my life and I shall baffle you with cabbages and rhinoceroses in the kitchen, incessant quotations from "Now We Are Six" through the mouthpiece of Lord Snooty's giant poisoned electric head. So there!…

The Bonzo Dog Band has a bunch of kickass songs, if you don't mind some 1960s psychedelic rock/1920s novelty tunes/'60s pop/all sorts of other stuff.

Meatloaf's "Everything Louder than Everything Else". I don't know why, but this song's lyrics constantly amuse me.

I know that I will never be politically correct
And I don’t give a damn about my lack of ettiquette
As far as I’m concerned the world could still be flat
And if the thrill is gone then it’s time to take it back
If the thrill is gone then it’s time to take it back
Who am i?
Why am I here?
Forget the questions someone get me another beer

What’s the meaning of life?
What’s the meaning of it all?
You gotta learn to dance
Before you learn to crawl
You gotta learn to dance
Before you learn to crawl

So sign up, all you raw recurits
Throw away those designer suits
You got your wepons cocked, your targets in your sights
Ther’s a party raging, somewhere in the world
You gotta serve your country, gotta service your girl
You’re all enlisted in the army of the night

And I ain’t in it for the power
And I ain’t in it for my health
I ain’t in it for the glory of anything at all
And I sure ain’t in it for the wealth
But I’m in it til’ it’s over
And I just can’t stop
If you want to get it done, you have to do it yourself
And I like my music like I like my life
Everything louder than everything else (X 5)

They got a file on me that’s a mile long
And they say that they’ve got all of the proof
That I’m just another case of arrested development
I’m just another wasted youth

They say that I’m in need of some radical discipline
They say I gotta face the truth
That I’m just another case of arrested development
I’m just another wasted youth

They say I’m wild and I’m recklous
I should be acting my age
I’m an impressionable child
In a tulmoultous world
And they say I’m at a difficult stage

But it seems to me to the contrary
Of all the crap they’re gonna put on the page

That a wasted youth is better by far
Then a wise and productive old age (X 6)

If you want my views of history
Then there’s something you should know
The three men I admire most
Are curly, larry, moe
Don’t worry about the future
Sooner or later it’s the past if they say the thrill is gone then it’s time to take it back
If the thrill is gone then it’s time to take it back

Wow, that's kinda long. I realized Meatloaf really likes to repeat their verses, so I cut out most of the repeated lyrics.

I like too many songs to list just one in particular, but one of my favorite lyric segments is from an Alice in Chains song (Love Hate Love from Facelift):

You tell me I'm the only one,
sweet little angel
you should have run

CheshireThief 05-13-2006 02:02 PM

There's a line from a Panic! At the Disco song that stays in my head all the time.

And I know
And I know
It just doesn't feel like
A night out
With noone sizing you up
I've never been so
Surreptitious
So I'm gonna be
Distracted when I spike the punch

She sang a short tune.
And I came from her soft touch and slept.

We sat on a shoreline watching wind scalp the white off the waves.
Sitting on a shoreline, and if I could do it, I'd dog-ear this page.
We spoke about growing old and filling the future's empty stage.

I hope the weather holds,
but you don't need the sun to make you shine.
These island towns don't care for city folk,
but I think we can starve the city from our minds.

I know we won't want for much,
It's just me and you and a bed and a shoreline.

*pulls up flame shield*
I like most of Nas' verses on Illmatic, and other albums. He's a great lyricist, but his flow's a bit inconsistent.

Rhapsody-Holly Thunderforce

Never before have angels kicked quite this much ass.

Quote:

Face me evil bastards, feel the hate of angels
Glory, pride and bloodshed
Cowards and beholders, rapers of my wisdom
mix of dust and bones
Go back to your abyss, Algalord will not fall
but your heads will soon roll
Test the blade of heroes, fury of the thunder
hit my golden shield

So we'll fight against the wind for the glory of the kings
to defeat the evil enemies
And we'll ride with our lord for the power and the throne
in the name of holy thunderforce

Arwald and Aresius with the nordic warrior
on their way to Hargor
Chaos and oblivion, turmoil and disorder
will have now their name
The last fallen heroes will defeat your forces
Thousands spirits calling
On the furthest mountain I will see your fire
quenched by holy frost!

So we'll fight against the wind for the glory of the kings
to defeat the evil enemies
And we'll ride with our lord for the power and the throne
in the name of holy thunderforce

Face me evil bastards, feel the hate of angels
Glory, pride and bloodshed
Cowards and beholders, rapers of my wisdom
mix of dust and bones
Go back to your abyss, Algalord will not fall
but your heads will soon roll
Test the blade of heroes, fury of the thunder
hit my golden shield

So we'll fight against the wind for the glory of the kings
