An annoying question.

My question is, why do the robots always freaking die in all TV shows? For the robot villains, they are never sent to prison, only completely destroyed! And for the robot good guys, they always sacrifice themselves for the greater good! What the heck is up with that?!?!

Discuss this amongst yourselves.

Because those lousy tin cans are expendable. Tis my guess.

Frylord 05-13-2006 06:41 PM

Hey! Be nice to the robots! I like them better than most of humanity!

Kitana Paladine 05-13-2006 07:38 PM

Because Robots can be rebuilt. Humans are irreplacable. Though, in certain shows, oftimes they kill off main characters for impact(Trigun for example, or DBZ during the Freiza saga). Plus, robots are artificial constructs, and less significant than humans. Really, the only show where a robot death had HUGE impact was Beast Wars.

Frylord 05-13-2006 07:45 PM

Beast Wars? What is that?

Ogianres 05-13-2006 08:46 PM

I don't think DBZ should count because every time somebody dies they just come back to frickin' life.

Beast wars was a spin-off Transformers show about transformer robots on prehistoric earth that changes into animals.

Aerozord 05-13-2006 09:26 PM

well for most of DBZ people died and were never brought back. They just weren't main characters. When main characters did die they were treated as a big deal. Its just later they cared less and less.

But if you want a better example, use FMA.
...just ignore the last episode

I can clearly see that no one here's read Battle Angel Alita/Gunnm...

It depends on what you're watching.
Also, if it's like a children's show or similar, robots dying is easier to pass off than human beings dying. "It's OK -- they weren't living people." Mmm, can of worms.
