B.L.I.N.D. Sign-up
Who is Blind? What exactly is Blind? What does Blind want? Not a day goes by in the big cities that these questions aren’t slapped onto every paper and being shouted by every boy on who slings paper for a living. It rings in the back of everyone’s mind, man, woman, gargoyle, ghost, gnome, goblin, kitsune, anasazi and even zombie-alike. As far as the common populace knows, Blind is a work of fiction and it’s the little threat of death which keeps politicians honest.
You on quite the other hand, know more; B.L.I.N.D. is out to protect humanity from those that would harm it, even kill it. But because of the world we live in there is no easy way to do that. The creatures of this world have powers far beyond that of man, so how does B.L.I.N.D protect the balance between humanity and the other races. They steal their power. And it is with this pilfered power that B.L.I.N.D finds its greatest anonymity, because no one suspects the butterfly… I mean… humanity. B.L.I.N.D is responsible for some of the greatest coup d’etat’s in history, they work from the shadows to better serve their goals. To remain in the shadow’s their numbers are always few, almost never more then seven. And on those rare occasions it becomes eight, it is only because one member is retiring. Or because an old member needs to be removed. This particular case falls under the second clause, while each member operates autonomously they must answer to the collective. And one member has broken all ties to B.L.I.N.D. and in doing so they have signed their own death warrant. For the first time in 23 years all the members of B.L.I.N.D. will come together to achieve a single goal. They will kill the traitor, they will kill Mime. *********** Alright then let’s get down to the bare bones of the traditional rp sign-up, firstly; a description of the world. Its 1930’s American style of clothing and society, propaganda will float around rather liberally as do the pistols and tommy-guns of the era. A big change from the historical 1930’s is the addition of the alternate races. A brief description of each now ensues: Gargoyles – Alright I’ll cop to it, I liked the show Gargoyles. It rocked. So, here they are in all their Disneyesque greatness, except in my world, they are stone all the time and can still glide through the air (magic defies gravity.). They are the traditional police force and general enforcers of those who need to intimidate others. Ghosts – After their body fell to age or injury some still refused to die, to pass into the ether, so even after being separated from their mortal coil they remained. Though ethereal in nature they can still affect inanimate objects, but those objects rarely have an effect on them. They are often seen acting as shiftless drifters or standing behind the seat’s of power. Gnomes – These tiny reflections of humanity are often seen as fanciful novelties rather then respectable companions and coworkers. Because of that, gnomes are often the angriest and most brutal people, commonly falling into alcoholism and substance abuse, though their connection to the earth and the seemingly magic powers they draw from it make them great construction workers. Goblins – The counter culture of gnomes and most publicly detested race, goblins find little solace in their menial jobs, though they’ll never get much higher then that due to the fact that technology falls to pieces around them whether they want it to or not. Though the good news is that when they want it to fall apart there is rarely any chance anyone could put it back together. Kitsune – One of the most ostracized and detested groups amongst humans which you’ll almost never hear ill of is the Kitsune. They have the power to become anyone they desire and as such, most humans don’t feel slighting them in public is an intelligent move. Because of their powers of concealment an official tabulation of their population has never been made. Anasazi – The true Native American’s of this world, a deeply spiritual people whom believe that it was their people, the spiders who rose from the sands of creation first, not humanity. They reside now in what could be considered ghetto’s easily identified from afar by the vast web which entangles all of their buildings. Their strength surpasses humans by leaps and bounds as does their hunger, though often they are vegetarians. Zombies – The walking dead, undead abominations, call them what you will, but they’re here and they aren’t going anywhere. While not everyone who dies becomes a zombie, a lot of have, they are peaceful in nature as they find the un-life they have to be quite precious. They retain all the knowledge they held in life but their new found lives are quite short, lasting only 4-6 years before they rot to nothing and return to the earth from whence they came. Alright and now for the special notes on powers and so forth, as all the characters will be humans with the powers of the other races you will be subtly different from the normal race powers: ********** Gargoyle – Stoneskin: you are essentially bulletproof as the guns aren’t very good, but enough bullets it will chip away at you. Strength: you have the strength of a strongman compition champion. Wings: you have thick leather textured wings reaching out of your back with are as strong as stone but still give you the ability to glide through the air. Ghost – Already called by a player and he knows the breaks. Gnome – Earth magic: like an earth bender or kwame from captain planet you have the power to manipulate the earth around you. Technology: You’re like macguyver with tech, and consider that in the 30’s tech still has an air of magic and non-understanding around it. Size change: You can decrease your stature to that of a normal gnome to blend in with the people… or at least the gnome people. Goblin – Illusion magic: goblins can obscure the world around them with a whim, buildings can appear and disappear with a snap of their fingers. Technology: While guns often misfire or just fall apart in their hands so do the weapons in their opponents. Voice Disguise: Tricksters by nature, after hearing a voice just once a goblin can imitate it perfectly. Kitsune – Taken by me. Anasazi – Strength: You have the strength of a strongman competition champion as well. Web: Using a special gland in you throat you can create and spin web as strong as spiderman’s. Wall Climbing: just like a spider can. Zombie – Undeath: While not actually dead, being killed doesn’t harm you for long. You find its rather easy to get back on your feet after being killed. And as a living member of the zombie’s you’ll also find that your wounds heal and you never, ever seem to rot. Grip of death: The zombie’s soul is tied rather loosely to his body, if he finds a member of the recently deceased he can take control of the corpse and use it to his hearts content. Alright now the simple part, the signup itself, now as I’m not the most articulate person I can only assume I’ve messed up somewhere and there is a list of flaws in this sign-up, if there are any questions for me bring them up immediately. Name: (Simple) Alias: (If ye have a cool code name place it here.) Age: (Blatantly obvious) Appearance: (How you look) Clothes: (How you are dressed) Race: Human you are a human, put human. HUMAN! Powers: (players choice) Origin: (What drew you to take the offer of joining B.L.I.N.D.) Bio: (What’s the tear jerking story which brings you here) Personality: (Your character have a flaw? Put it here) Quote: (What are you likely to say when under attack?) Equipment: (what are you packing?) Alright and now here’s a vague example: Name: James Tobin Alias: Mime Age: 31 Appearance: Depends on who he is. Clothes: Whatever he is impersonating would wear. Race: Human Powers: Kitsune Origin: The challenge of the task and the power he would recieve. Bio: Unknown. Personality: An eternal conflict between humor and sadism. Quote: “It would be best for all parties involved if you surrendered, but I truly hope you refuse.” Equipment: Whatever the person he took the place of was carrying. And be gentle with your complaints, I stayed up till nearly 5 am writing this.... so obviously I don't have a woman in my life to comfort me. Now I feel bad. Thanks alot! |
Hmm...toss up between the earthbending gnome powerset (I loves me some Avatar nowadays) or the gargoyle toughy...I think I'll go with the gargoyle, so gargoyle is hereby dibbed.
Just a quick question, I assume that BLIND is a tap-on-the-shoulder-initiation company, so would our characters have had lives and jobs and such before joining? And, assuming again, is it right to say that humans are still the world's population leader with the other races taking up specialized sects of society? |
Would you mind if I bags Anasazi and put up a sign-up sheet tomorrow?

The Triumphant return of Mintaro.
Name: Danny Rameau Alias:The Prismatic Marshal Age: 95 Appearance: He stands at 6'. Looks to weigh about 200lbs. He has strong handsome features of a healthy 25 year old. Clothes:His trench coat is a bland Grey ordeal normally. He wears a Grey Fedora, but then he always was ahead of the trends. And on occasion a pair of black wire frame glasses. Creating small black circles that hide his eyes. He never takes off his hat so his hair is hard to make out. In his ethereal form he maintains the same clothing but the light refracting through him creates a prismatic effect. Thus prompting the name. Race: Human (but he's a phantom) Powers: Ghost Origin: What else was he going to do with his time? Rent movies? people didn't have home video players in the 1930's man, jeeze. Bio: When Danny was 25 he had a Near death experience. While walking to his sweet hearts house he took a wrong step near a cliff and fell over the edge. He fell only a short way before landing on a hidden ledge, but the fall scared him so badly his heart stopped. It was said his heart never started back up again. In fact it never needed to. Danny now had the ability to control his spirit. Allowing him to become a ghost and come back again. A sort of, Half ghost if you will. He learned to control his powers slowly each day, Discovering how to move items with him into his ethereal form and back again. He met an old man ghost one day while traveling through buildings looking up pretty laddies dresses. He had been up to the same thing. They got to talking, and one thing led to another. It turned out the man was a half ghost like himself, and wanted to retire from his business. He introduced himself as Nelson Perch. He asked Danny if he would be interested in coming with him and learning the business with the intent to take over. So off Danny went with Nelson. He learned of Blind and of the conspiracy to keep humans on top of the world. The rules were explained and The teaching began. Sense Humans with Ghost abilities were so few and far between that the old man had been in Blind nearly 80 years. Sense he didn't age it didn't really matter all that much. But he wanted out and the only way to get out was to have Danny take his place. Danny agreed to do so. So Nelson began training Danny. Several years later it was time for Danny to take over. Nelson left Blind forever. He still lives somewhere, out there in the great ether. But Danny hasn't heard from him sense. When Danny had been in blind nearly 65 years He decoded he didn't want to do it anymore. He loved the job, But he had grown board and wanted more out of his unlife. So he informed the organization he was retiring. With no Half ghost to train of course he wasn't allowed to retire. The others tried to object but, what could they do? How do you stop a man that you can't touch? Danny has become the first member of Blind to retire without a replacement. He still comes around now and then to check in on things. Help out his old and new comrades. And to update them on the search for a replacement. Personality: Danny is arrogant, slightly loudmouthed, a bit perverted, but one of the best hit man you could ever hope for. He has a flare for the dramatic, and loves to do things he feels are "neat". Quote: YOU SHOT ME! YOU F**king SHOT ME! ....heh, no I'm kidding you didn't. Equipment:Dual 8 MM Nambu Pistols Also a fact he forgot to mention in his tired state is that there is to only be one of each race. And it is not necessarily first come first serve. Though if you put up first you do have a better chance to get it. We admit it, we're biast. What you wanna fight about it? I'm not DM anyways what the hell am I doing tell you guys what to do!? But it seems like you guys have already figured it out. |
So wait, are we born/manifested/created/whathaveyou into our half human-half mythos, or does BLIND give its recruited humans the half-half makeover? I assumed that the organization had the power to instill the extraracial powers in humans but Mintaro's character suggests that we're already halfers and then get recruited, which would make for a pretty small pool of applicants unless inter-species gettin-it-on is prominent (and even then, making the beast with two backs when one of those backs is soft and fleshy and the other is living stone...).

Name: Millie Armstrong
Alias: Gravelink ["I was thinking of naming her 'Living Dead Girl' in honor of the song by Rob Zombie but nah."] Age: 24 Appearance: 5' 4", slender and flexible, with dyed dark-blue hair that hangs to the shoulders and obscures most of her face so only her right eye can be seen. Clothes: Celluloid sunglasses, black leather jacket, gray t-shirt, blue denim pants, and black tennis shoes. Race: Human Powers: Zombie Origin: Normal life doesn't suit her. Bio: It's because Millie's life had been uneventful that she joined BLIND in the first place. She's tried to separate herself from her mundane existence since her days in school. Opportunities just never presented themselves, and Millie was nearly ready to throw in the towel and desensitize herself to life, finally, her ship had come in. Caught in a crossfire between the police and a gang she didn't know, Millie was fatally wounded...and yet somehow, she came back from death. Nobody in the hospital that she was transported to could explain it. Shortly after Millie's diagnosis was complete and she was released, she was headhunted by BLIND. Fascinated by BLIND since graduating because of the unique lives she was certain BLIND employees must live, Millie jumped at the chance and is BLINDs newest member. Personality: Quite reclusive when around normal humans, Millie's personality is more open and respectful when in the company of her senior members. She isn't adverse to doing tasks that she knows are beneath her due to a small fear that BLIND might kick her out or get rid of her if she didn't do all that she was ordered to do. Quote: "Be careful, everybody." Equipment: 3' 4" long metal pipe, S&W M1917 Revolver |

Garud go for it. Quote:
Minty approved. And he's right we are biased. AB approved on the condition that at some point it is revealed to her that she was given her new found powers and life upon her death. Also AB is millie so new that she still has a mentor, if so another person can sign up as an experienced zombie otherwise he is retired like minty wants to be. I think that settles just about everything. |
Name: Chester Hatfield
Alias: Mass...a modification of the German word for Earth (according to Babelfish, it's Masse) Age: 32 Appearance: A tall man with reddish-brown hair and green eyes. Always seems to have a "I'm better than you" kind of look on his face, but he can't really help it. Plus whatever gnomish stuff is thrown in. >_>;; Clothes: Almost always dressed in a nice business suit, prefers black or grey, but has been know to sport a brown one on occasion. Also wears a fedora. Race: Human Powers: Gnome Origin: Despite his profession, he has an honest need to help people. Of course…”vanishing” is always a good thing when being hunted by rival mafia members, as well. So call it “enlightened self-preservation”. Bio: Chester is what is politely referred to as a "business man". Hey, given the times, do you think you could get around without have a few connections within the mob? Anyways, Chester was born into the Hatfield family...a mafia. This mafia was the sworn rivals of another group, the McCoy mafia. Terribly original names, no? Anyways…when Chester reached the ripe old age of 25, the feud escalated into full-scale mob war. Chester found himself in what would go down as one of the bloodiest series of attacks that his city would ever see. Chester himself was party to many of these, often as the gunman. Despite his violent reputation, Chester had a good heart. He fought against the McCoys with the honest belief that they were hurting people, and that the city as a whole would be better off without them. Unfortunately for Chester, it wasn’t the Hatfields that won the war. A well placed bomb wiped out most of the Hatfield family, leaving Chester and a pair of cousins alive (his older cousin, John Hatfield, became the head of the family for the brief period of time the mafia remained intact). With the death of so many of it’s leaders, the family began to fall apart. Chester left when his cousin, the new family head, began to order hits that would kill just as many innocents as McCoys. This did not save him from his name, however, and he was forced to go on the run. While avoiding both the bloodthirsty McCoys, and a handful of Hatfield loyalists who felt he betrayed the family, Chester was approached by an elder gentleman. The man said his name was Harris…whether this was his first name or last name Chester never knew, but it was the only name he got. Harris said he had been keeping his eye on the gang war, looking for a suitable replacement. He decided that Chester had the right combination of principles and ruthlessness to replace Harris as a member of B.L.I.N.D. Given his morals…and the fact he was being hunted by the mob…Chester accepted, and has been a member of B.L.I.N.D. for a few years now. Personality: Chester is an odd combination of “nice guy” and “mafia hitman.” For the most part, he is a gentleman, but once he gets into anything approaching combat, he comes rather merciless on the target. Chester abhors the taking of innocent life, believing that matters should be kept to the parties involved. He has no compunctions, however, on taking the life of his enemies, and the enemies of mankind. Quote: “I would prefer not to resort to violence, but…::insert tommy gun firing here::” Equipment: M1928 “Tommy gun”. |
something I dont get. If there are supposed to be 8 people of BLIND, including your traitor, then shouldn't there be a replacement Kitsune. If so, mind if I take it?

Name: Lennie Hardy
Alias: Rocco Age: 32 Appearance: A Vin Diesel/The Rock-esque build, covered in a stone skinwith wings. Clothes: Loose fit pants and customized brown vests over white t-shirts. If he's forced to, for sneaking or whatnot, he'll wear an overcoat under duress to hind his wings. Race: HUMAN! Powers: Gargoyle Origin: A natural fighter who wanted to contribute to the common good. Bio: Lennie was a typical city ruffian, the muscle of a small-time street gang. After he finished up his six-year high school career he entered the military, mostly at the behest of his mother who told him that he probably wouldn't find a viable career on his own. During his stay he showed remarkable soldier-aptitude and quickly became an accomplished squad leader. One day, on a small vacation to come back to the city and visit his mother, he was 'contacted' by BLIND, who presented a range of new 'promotions'. Lennie, now Rocco, took the new career path and never looked back. Personality: Rocco is a former army man so he's devoted to the preservation and safety of the group, and his new gargoyle-powers allow him to be a defensive force. If there is a flaw in his mindset it's that he trusts his 'squad' to the utmost degree. Quote: "I was only taught two ways to solve conflicts and I aint in the mood to ask nicely." Equipment: Carries a few feet of metal chain to wrap around his fists. Knows his way around guns but prefers to settle things up close since the upgrade. |
