Heavy Metal: Pillsbuy's Warhawks
 

The Mercenary Star has a bad reputation. Once the mineral rich colony of Avalon, the paradise was destroyed in the succession worlds. The Mercenary guild moved in and set up shop. The name avalon is almost forgotten, it is now the mercnary guild. It's surface covered in polluted cities devoted to military production, Lush Jungles, and war scarred wastes. The majority of the Mercenaries use the centrally located solar system as training ground and base of operations. The Arenas of the Mercenary Star drawing many tourist dollars as well as an alternative for the mercenaries in the off season. In the capital city of Castiglione, a large warehouse near the space port housed a large squadron of new Legionairre class UCVs. In the offices of the warehouse a group of pilots were meeting each other for the first time. An ordinary looking man in simple black button up shirt and blue jeans entered, They all recognized him as their boss, John "Doughboy" Pillsbury.

"Hello. How are Ya'll today?" he said to his troops.

Reiji hovered up on his wheelchair. He wasn't used to humid weather, and his discomfort was evident as he entered the room.

"What's the job, boss?"

"Ferocious and I find this place pleasent, and look forward to being assigned our new UCV as soon as possible!" Will "Hulk" Freelander said, 'Ferocious' referring to the stuffed kitten toy on his shoulder.

"Well I assume you've taken the time to meet your team mates, well we have two jobs up for grabs.
1> We bolster the defences of New Holland against regional pirates, Mission may require EVA work. and the pay is really good.

2> The Earth government wants to raid New Caledon's UCV production facility near Edinbugh. Pay is good, and they're giving us scavenge rights, but we'd need to be quick to avoid reprisal.

I'd like to run a fairly democratic group. So we'll put it to a vote."

"I'm good with EVA. Hell, I was born in space!" Wayward smiled.

Will seemed to confer with the cat on his shoulder, then said, "Ferocious thinks, and I agree, that since our current UCVs are not quite, how shall I say, up to speed, perhaps we should go with the guard duty? We will get paid whether there is action or not."

Kansai Kaihiro stepped through the door a small roll bag in hand. He dropped it by the door and wandered over to a group of people somewhere near the middle of the room "ah I was told to come to this address and report to a Captain Pilsbury" Kansai's accent was all too easy to recognise. he did not really know anyone here. For most of his life he had been a member of the infamous Red Tide, that was until they were nearly wiped out all bar one...

"Your late." Pillsbury said. "I'm going to forfeit your vote on this. Try to be on time to the team meetings next time."

"That's what I'm banking on. The contract says we're getting paid to just show up and look tough. It makes me a bit nervous, but the legionaire is a good platform for almost any kind of combat."

Kyle looked up from the book he had been reading. He had ignored most of the conversation up untill now.

"I hate guard duty. It's not up to our par. I vote for the raid. Plus, i personaly feel more comfortable working for earth."

"Incidentally, speaking of upgrading our UCVs, what's the pay for the New Holland job?"
