Super Secret Games Thread
Has anyone found a secret by fluke and never managed to find it again? I know I have. In Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, I found the Houlihann room and never could get into it again no matter how hard I tried. Please explain the secret in the usual "Spoiler" way.

I know in Banjo Tooie, in the 'Lagoon, I went up to a picture inside the bar, and it started playing the theme of the beach/sandcastle level from Banjo Kazooie. I was shocked, as it only played for, like, 5 seconds, then faded away. I never heard it again; I've even gone back and restarted my game just to hear it again, but it never played.

Spoiler Text code isn't black, it's 111111. Just so you know.
Devil may cry 3. I glitched the elevator and double jumped, landed on air, double jumped again on the air, and continued out of that part of the level. Never able to repeat the trick. |
I have Sonic 3d blast for my sega genesis, and in a very painful way, I tripped on the control and faceplanted the console as I was turning it on Suddenly I hear some weird musci and when I look at the screen its displaying: " You have found the special level select menu!" The damn thing was so painful I never even tried to acces the damn thing again.

Not a secret, but a weird fluke. I was playing Majora's Mask, and was at the part in the stone temple where you porpoise jump as a zora.(not a spoiler methinks;) ) When I was building up speed, I hit one of the walkway's supports and flew up and backwards through the air. twas awesome.

Back in my goldeneye days I unlocked practically every cheat for the menu. So what did I do when I was bored? I went to one of those open snow field levels and just layed waste to everything with remote mines. One time after, I do not lie when I say this, after six hours of just total mayhem the game did this weird burp glitch after I detonated around fifty mines at once.
After that when I'd throw a mine it was a square piece of glass in the air. When it hit something it changed visual properties. Windows = Wooden block mine Snow = grey/black mine Wood walls = block of metal Explosive barrels (unexploded) = The death head warning symbol turned 90 degrees on it's side but grey/black like the wood wall mine. Explosive barrel (exploded) = bright colored version. Metal doors = bright green square There was a variety of others but I can't remember them now. Heres the clincher: When I'd throw the mine at the NPCs it'd turn into a yellow smiley face before hitting the ground. I've never EVER EVER been able to recreate that awesome glitch. |
Exactly once, while playing the original Super Mario Bros., I managed to make myself small and fiery. I don't remember how I did it or when, except that it made world 2-2 a lot of fun.

I was playing True Crime: Streets of L.A. one night, it was very late, and I had been playing for hours, when suddenly, out of nowhere, a car rams into me whist I'm against a building, shoving my through. Then, on my screen, it showed "Welcome to" and then it started playing a highpitched buzz noise until I turned it off. Never did play that game again.

Well, most of the glitches/faults I get are usually when I use a cheat device. For example when I was playing FF1 on the JNES Emulator for the PC and had a bunch of Game Genie Codes... I couldn't get to the Dwarf Cave because there was a river in the middle of the forest. When I made it go away after opening and closing the menu, it was still there even though I couldn't see it.
Very strange. But, there are plenty of other things like in Pokemon when using a cheat device... (On Fire Red and Leaf Green) that your trainer card, I kid you not, says the following: Hall of Fame Debut ----- 999:99:99 Berry Crush ------------ 65535 Number of Trades ------ 65535 Number of Vics/Losses -- 65535 / 65535 Money ----------------- ??9:99#53 This glitch is associated with the DMA Partition that's located on the Cartridge itself, the Action Replay DMA Disabler won't work on it though. So I said "Screw this, I'm playing by the book." Remarkably, it doesn't seem to do this in Emerald. |
I was doing Multiplayer Practice in C&C Renegade, and I was Nod. I'd been playing for the last 5 or 6 minutes as a Stealth Black Hand (But of course, as is customary, Stealth ANYTHING never works against the computer) and decided that, since I had enough Credits, I'd make a rush for the enemy base and actually win via Beacon Deploy instead of expired time. So I return to base, find a PCT, buy a Nuke Beacon, Light Tank, and change my character to Raveshaw (The big hulking Tiberium model, not the white-Gary-Coleman model).
Then when I switch from 3rd-person to 1st-person view, I'm cloaked, or looked like it rather. I'm not sure if I was ACTUALLY cloaked since, as I said, CPUs are omniscient, but it was definately weird. |
