Anywhere around here, probably, although Christopher Eccleston is from Lancashire specifically.

Yeah, the regions shown there, Liverpool, Lancaster, Newcastle, although all have their specific accents, they're still all Northern.

The only thing that will get confusing is Scotland. Scotland is further north, but a Northern English accent is not a Scottish accent.

Wait until the second episode of Season 2 to see a Scottish accent! (It's David Tennant's natural accent, and he uses it for one episode when they visit Scotland).

Well there you go then.

Well yeah, but when you're watching a British TV show and the scene is taking place in Britian, it's safe to assume a British character in Britain saying "Why do you sound like you're from the North?" is referring to North Britain.

Or so I'd of thought, anyway.

I can understand not recognising the accent though, it's hard to tell regional accents when you don't live in that specific country. I certianly couldn't identify regional American accents.

Anyone who says "nay-gurs," "y'all" or "that there" is from the South, anyone who says "pop" is from the North.

THE MORE YOU KNOW.

Because god knows, no Yankees have ever been racist pieces of crap and every honky born under the Mason-Dixon line pops out of the womb with a pointy white hood on. Let's not get into this discussion before it gets right un-neighborly, y'all.

Anyway, Vivli, do you think having to put on a different accent from the one he has is why David Tennant sometimes sounds like he's got a mouthful of spit? Every now and then I start feeling bad for Billie Piper because she's not wearing a raincoat.

It was, y'know, a joke. One of those things I make from time to time. That aren't to be taken seriously. I was more going for the way it was pronounced anyway. With the "ay" sound. I know that people from the American North were racist too, at times, but they don't pronounce it like that. For the most part. I am from the American South, so don't think I'm Southern-bashing here.

Burkion 07-09-2006 09:24 PM

Actually, from where I come from, it's pronounced like it should be: Shut The Fuck Up You Racist Bastard.

Then again, we also hate it when Road Island people say idea like ideer. So we're crazy like that.
