The good shows this season (as watched by Maxis)

I don't know how many of you guys are into watching the current Anime and well, I don't really care! I'm bringing you this information anyway!

There's a great collection of new shows coming out now. Which, if you haven't been keeping up with the last 2-3 years, a LOT of Anime has turned into a collection of assorted Ecchi comedies, low budget shows with mediocre plots or good shows that now are experiencing huge 'filler' arcs while their Mangas finish. A few exceptions, but nothing has really stood out for me. But this season, it seems things are changing. Some excellent titles have appeared and I'd like to name them if anyones interested.

'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya' - My favorite currently. A great show combining a type of storytelling from Kare Kano with the kind of feel of Azumanga Daioh. It has Ecchi comedy in places like most shows now adays, but its done to liven the mood and not to replace the plot. Some of the best Animation I've ever seen in a show. An original SciFi backstory. And to top it all off, the show is shown out of order. This show is getting much talk online and for good reason. I highly suggest watching it whenever you can!

Utawarerumono - A show based on, of all things, a Hentai game. But then again, a great deal of Anime now adays is. However this is a show based on one that has absolutely no hinting that it would be. And compared to almost anything else out today, it has no ecchi to speak of. This is a straight action/drama series, with a man who awakens to find he's living on Earth of thepast. But instead of there being people, everyone is of another race, with cat-like ears and where women have tails. Aside from these quirks, which are barely mentioned at all after episode 1, the show is entirely a war drama of various people trying to save their villiage and then their country. While only 10 episodes so far, it shows great promise again, compared to what else I've seen recently.

Ah! megami-sama - Second season of one of the most famous Mangas in Japan. Belldandy, Skuld, Urd and everyone else. Light comedy and good characters. I'd always recommend this.

There's probably other good shows out atm but I haven't been in the mood for Anime for a long time. However, these shows are quickly sparking my interest again! So hey, just for your into peeps.

as much as it pains me to admit, i've seen that game. the dialog was so grand i could not help but wonder when they would create an animated re-telling of it's spellbinding script.

This series is constantly brought up in clanBOB's IRC and, at times, our forum. I'm a fan of the animation and the disjointed storytelling, but some of the particular events that people clamour on and on about aren't high on my list.

This one is my kind of anime. Why exactly is it shown out of order? Wouldn't that get kind of confusing? I will watch it anyway!

Loveless is an AMAZING Half-hearted Yaoi, and is probably my favourite anime this second; and, since my attraction to Loveless has lasted almost 4 months now, That's pretty damn good for me. :P

Wiki it for more details.

Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu is one hell of an anime. I find myself waiting desperately for Tuesdays for when a.f.k. releases their fansub.

Yeah, you'll see if you watch it. All I can say is it actually makes the show better I think.

Although once the show is done (Episode 14), I'm going to rewatch it all in chronological order. Cuz its one of those shows you need to watch again! Not only because its so good, but because you miss a couple things.

Not to hijack the thread away from the anime Ken is spouting about, but...

I've seen that show, and while it IS pretty well drawn, and the story's decent...

College Guy + 12 year old boy = NO.

Thus, I must say that you disturb me, Nikose. Disturb me greatly.

Please do talk about other Anime. I was just bringing up the ones I saw, but wouldn't mind knowing of other good ones this season.
