Advice for dealing with massive groups of Kids...

Edit:[sorry, thats supposed to be "dealing with ", not "deakubg with"] [Done!]

I help run a summer technology program for kids Kindergarten through eighth grade. Does anyone have any ideas for what to have them do? I only see them once a week.

I had the idea of giving the younger ones comic strips with no dialogue so that they can write their own (on the computer) and the older ones can draw their own comics on paint, but I don't know where to find blank comics short of drawing them myself (which would look atrocious).

Any Ideas?

Have the older and younger kids work together, with the younger ones scripting and the older ones creating.

The older kids might get impatient when they write little-kid stuff, though. I don't think that that would work out very well.

An English teacher did a similar thing with Penny-Arcade Strips. I don't know if he asked Gabe and Tycho, but they're all pretty proud of it. I don't think they would mind if you white-out the bubbles. If you sent an email to them, I'm sure one of their people would get back to you.

Or just find pictures on the Internet from a kid's movie or cartoon show, then put in some speech bubbles on Paint and let the kids fill in what each character is saying.

Surely you have resources to counter the massive amounts of children with a Zerg rush.

there is a website for lessonplans for kids pre-K through high school about computers. I only looked through briefly, but it looks like it has some good ideas for activities for the kids.

I would betray my avatar if I didn't link to a similar comic experience.

Also, since you're running a technology program, you can try teaching the kids how binary math works.

If you want, I could ask the artist I work with if he is OK with you using the comics he's drawn. The link to my site is in my signature.

He waited too long and the kids got the range and stimpack upgrades, now he has to ladder until he can sneak Creepers under their cubbyholes.

On a more related note, you can never go wrong with a round of Duck Duck Goose.

Well okay, unless there's, like, one kid who nobody'll let be the goose, and then he starts crying.

Never give them candy unless it's a set amount.

Better yet, never give them candy at all. Or anything with sugar.

How to deal with children?

Anal Sex.

Also--That thing on the socratic method that CMP linked was pretty awesome. Just throwing that out there.

Y'know, you might just have a few problems with that one, krylo. Just maybe.

I agree, I read the question part of the Socratic method thing, and it was surprisingly useful. To the point that it made sense.
