Wait a minute... It wasn't so great.

You all remember that game. You know the one. The one you played for hours on end when you were younger because you thought it was the greatest thing ever. You ever go back and play that game again now that you know better and realize that it sucked? Its happened to all of us. Recently, i was going through the selection of old games at the local pawn shop when i came across an old copy of Boogerman for Sega Genesis. I remember how much fun i had playing that game when i was younger so i immediatly bought it for the whole 2 bucks it costed. I can say now that it was 2 bucks too much because i realize the game was horrid.

Do you have any games like that?

Beavis and Butthead for the SNES.

What the fuck was I thinking?

I have to agree with FF1. Although it was more the fact that the battle system sucked, there was no character depth (hell, there were only characters at ALL in the loosest sense), and the plot (though promising) was executed horribly. I dare say a hundred monkeys with type writers could write something better with that plot.

Dragon Warrior (the first) is also in that boat. Though not as bad. As a kid I liked it because it was a great RPG. As an adult I still enjoy it because it's so goddamn campy. "Thou hast slain the ghost. Thou experience has increased by five points." Love it.

Oh, and Chrono Trigger. What the hell was I thinking? Haha, kidding. I just want to see how riled up that gets Fifthfiend.

When I got my N64 back in '96, I purchased Super Mario 64 with it. If you had asked me what my favorite game ever was at that time, I would've told you, "SM64 is my favoritist game evar!" However, after I had beaten the whole game, as in gotten all 120 stars, I noticed that maybe I had been mislead. This suspicion of mine turned out true. As little as three months after having purchased SM64, I denounced it. The camera and controls were atrocious and it just couldn't hold a candle to SMB 3, the SMW titles and even SMRPG. And you know what else? Mario and company don't look so good in 3-D. Even to this day, I contend that Mario games look and play best in 2-D. Luckily, I know just who to blame for throwing my life away to SM64, *clears throat* DAMN YOU NINTENDO!!!!!

Why, not in the least, because I knew there was no way you could possibly have meant it.

I used to play Runescape alot when I was young(er), but After trying it again, it seems like you have to stay in a certain couple square feet of ground fighting the same enemy for about 5 levels before you can move on. And the early level quests suck. Sure, it gets pretty good after about lvl 30, great for a free game, but in the time you spend training for that point you're just wasting your time. In World of Warcraft there's so much content you can keep yourself busy while training on the run, and the game gets good around lvl 10, and really good at lvl 60.

After playing Starfox 64, I guess I could think that about the original.

Though...no, no I can't. It was just too much a part of my childhood.

Honestly, I can't think any that are like that. o__o

Breath of Fire. I played it when it first came out, and it was an okay RPG in its day but the dragon transformations made me love it with an unhealthy obsession (of course, dragons are the coolest things in the universe). Now I wouldn't play it if someone paid me to. The cheesy battles, horrible music and plot, slow walking, and dry characters make it a game that only a child could enjoy.

Technically, all games fit into this catagory. Only some strong nostalgia can make a person go back and play such old games.
