Blade the Series

So...is anyone else interested if this might come out well? Following the lackluster Blade 2 and 3, I'm hoping this series will make up for it and really make Blade into a good story. Although it does have the writer of Blade 2 (who also wrote Batman Begins), I'm willing to give him a second chance (once again because he did Batman Begins and a couple other ok movies). But maybethis series will show us weither the Blade 2 was bad because of the director or the writer (I always felt it was the producer or director turning it from an Action/SciFi movieto a SciFi/Horror movie with just a ton of pointless killing).

So what's everyone elses concensus?

I would like to see this series come to fruition if it is done right.

Well, the guy who wrote 2 wrote all of them, and he wrote and directed Blade 3. So I'm not quite inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. That said, I liked Blade 2. I thought Del Toro did fine with what he had and was glad that it wasn't just Blade 1 all over again (like 3 was... only with punk-ass-kids).

It'll blow. I remember seeing a commercial and going, "What the heck is this? Where's Wesley Snipes? This'll be lame."

Well then again, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt if he also wrote the first one, because that's the one I liked. And since he wrote all 3, that means, it seems, he's a good writer. Judging from the fact that each of the 3 movies all had their own seperate problems, but all had different directors yet the same writer, I'm willing to guess it wasn't the writer or the directors that were at fault for them. It was probably then producers or people in other departments who really did many of the annoying things.

Somehow with what I've read about the Blade series and from what I can tell in the movies, whenever the movies seem to do really odd things that didn't seem to fit with the series it seems to be one of those things that some random producer or 'monster designer' could have easily went 'I think it would be cool/get audiances attention if we did this'. It may have simply been a situation where this guy as a writer had to grease a few palms and do what some people told him just so he could get his movies made (at least Blade 2). because I do remember back when Blade 2 came out hearing that it almost wasn't made and, although Blade 1 made more money than was expected, the producers of the first movie were hesitant of making a second one.

So again, I'm gonna give him another chance. If for no other reason that Blade 1 was one of my favorite low high-budget fun movies and Batman Begins gives him about 50 bonus points where previously those points were lost for 'ruining' Blade 2 and 3 (which I'm not so sure he was responsible for anymore...). And simply because I think Blade would fit better as a tv series than a movie series.

We'll just have to wait till tomorrow to see!

And Chipper....Wesley ain't exactly the best actor ever. Just as I could have handled someone else being Neo, I could take someone else being Blade. It ain't gonna kill me. He IS Blade and I recognize that. But if this new guy ends up being good and the series goes on for a long time, then he'll probably seem more like Blade to me than Snipes.

I'm not having high hopes for it.

Blade 3 I enjoyed until I got home and thought about it some more, to which I said, "That movie wasn't a Blade movie. At all." I mean, King's comedic relief was great, and I thought Abby was an interesting (if shitty plot-device'd) character. Seriously, conceived out of marriage? So where was she when her sisters were killed?

Aside from some of the out of character moments, my problem was the villains all were absolutely terrible. Crazy-hair chick couldn't act her way out of teen drama club, Drake was merely okay, and the rest of the cast blended together into the "We're useless" group of nameless extras.

I'd like to shoot whoever thought it was a good idea to get Triple H in movies.

I also would like to shoot whoever thought up the dick-line in the prison cell.

Having said thus, I liked all three movies alot. My problem is, well, it's on Spike TV. I mean, you really can't get anything good that Spike TV did originally. *carefully excluding CSI reruns*

It has the possibility to be good - gods know that Charmed was pretty good when it got started, and the whole supernatural-in-the-modern-world seemed to carry out well.

You do realize Mirai you contradicted yourself a few times in that last post. -_-

Blade 2 was the fresh hotness.

Blade 3 was broke-down and busted.

That is all.

I remember her stating that she was born out of wedlock, which just means her parents never married. And I clearly recall her stating that she was born after Whistler's original daughters were killed.

Agreed, and the new vamp make-up effect didn't help. Vampires with braces? Well, at least that's what it looked like to me.

The worst part of the movie for me was how Drake took on the appearance of Whistler. I mean, why? Drake never ever MET the guy, it isn't like Whistler should've been able to get past security any better than anyone else. Uhg...

And unless the actor died mid filming, there's really no excuse for Whistler not at least mentioning his duaghter's group. He also died a bit too early in the film for my tastes...
