NPF Avatars IV! (Now with Roman numerals!)
 
What once was will be again.

Since the last time the NPF Avatars sallied forth, things seemed to have settled down. But as we all know, one action can often send out a ripple of consequences. In the wake of those tumultuous events, the dark, ancient powers of Chaos have stirred, deeming the time ripe to unravel the ordered universe and reclaim what was once theirs.

Omens abound - the black comet called the Invisible Moon hangs in the sky, signalling the time of conjunction when the Chaos Gate will open. This will permit the powers of Chaos to invest the chosen instrument of their will, the Herald of the End Times, with might almost beyond reckoning.

When the path to the new era opens, the Herald will lead the numberless legions of Chaos in ending the ordered universe. Chaos will reign ascendant and Law will be sent wailing into the void.

Great seals were placed around the Gate in ages past to attempt to prevent this dire future ever coming to pass. Each was imbued with the purity of an element to create their binding about the Gate and seal it off from the rest of the world. But over the eons, Chaos has entered the seals, corrupting them so their fall is now only a matter of time. The powers of Chaos have already chosen their Herald, bestowing the Heart of Chaos upon them as mark of their favour. The Herald waits before the Gate even now.

In situations like this, heroes are inevitable.

However, the hero guild is on strike, so we've had to call in the next best thing - the NPF Avatars! And thus the assorted denizens of the NPF will once again take action. This motley crew will face terrible perils, wander though various dungeons, battle fierce monsters and hopefully save the world without blowing up too much of it in the process.

To summarise, this RP is a bit different from other RP's in that the character you play as will be based off your avatar and your general forum persona. It will be the fourth of such RP's. Knowledge of the previous ones isn't required. If you haven't really 'developed a character' yet, no need to worry, just brainstorm some ideas and come up with something.

Now, to openly steal Toastburner's profile design with the miracle of copy and paste:

Name: Should be fairly obvious. Will likely be your screen name.
Appearance: Is your avatar just a face? Want to add in some details it doesn’t have? Here’s your chance.
Weapons/Items: What your character uses in battle. Giant sword? Tank? A dead trout? Whatever.
Special Abilities: Magic, teleknesis, alchemist tatoos on your right paw that are handy for punching holds in stuff and blowing out brains…stuff like that goes here. This includes whatever ability you can do without the help of an item or weapon. Please try not to overdo it.

I might just clarify in the area of abilities and equipment, while the Avatar RP's are synonymous with various hijinks and are a of fairly high power level, I do not want any excessively powerful abilities. People can be strong, but not invulnerable.

As an example, here is my character.

Name: Arhra

Appearance: Arhra only died once in the last Avvy RP, a notable improvement over her previous attempt. She was happy to find her new incarnation was damn good looking, but less so to find it short and lacking in physical ability. Her petite stature still gnaws away at her but Arhra was pleased to discover that the second problem went away with time. She now looks disgustingly healthy. Arhra has a pale complexion, red eyes and black hair that she keeps at about shoulder length. She has decided to be unnecessarily dramatic and wear black, including a light cape.

Weapons/Items: Arhra fights unarmed as her very touch can be lethal in this incarnation.

Although she doesn't admit it, Arhra still has the sailor fuku, cat ears and cat tail given to her by Ecurt that was the special 'armour' he created to absorb lightning attacks.

Special Abilities: Arhra's powers vary from incarnation to incarnation. In the last NPF Avatar RP, Arhra died becuase of friendly fire, but she sucessfully reincarnated as what is possibly her strongest form yet. The strength of Arhra's reincarnations varies randomly and this is at the uppermost limits of her power.

With the laws of irony being what they are, Arhra found her new form looked great but had all the fighting prowess of tissue paper. She then made the fortunate discovery that she could drain energy which strengthened her.

Drain: Arhra can siphon off energy through physical contact. This has the benefit of weakening her enemy and slightly strengthening her. It also makes her resilient to most energy attacks. The other fortunate upside is Arhra found she can gain some abilities of enemies she kills with her draining touch. Unfortunately she found there was little variety in the last Avvy RP's enemies. Currently the abilities she gained include troll-like rapid healing, fire breathing, a activatable fiery aura, some ice based attack magic, enhanced strength and, strangely enough, certain powers that make it very easy to take care of her hair. There are also a few useless powers she gained during the interval between Avvy RP's.

Chaos Magic: After seeing Rhiya's effective use of this and wondering why she hadn't thought of it first, Arhra, being the NPF's resident being of Chaos decided to get some of her own. With Rhiya's loss of the ability, nothing stood in Arhra's way, be they big gribbly demons or copyright laws. As you can imagine, chaos magic is extremely unpredictable and likely to have occaisonally dangerous side effects. Arhra's most common use of it is to have a single word trigger and the chaos magic will create a suitable effect (Like 'Light!' might fill an area with fireflies, set a tree on fire or create a lamp).

Explosive Reincarnation: Largely self explanatory, Arhra possesses the power of rejuvenation. With a large blast radius, no less. The new form varies although its generally a humanoid. Unfortunately, reincarnating often leaves Arhra as weak as a kitten for a while and quite often some sort of catalyst is needed to help end the period of weakness. Ironically, it can also lead to her true death - if it is used multiple times in a short time period it has a host of nasty and potentially fatal side effects.

Shapechange: A creature as random as Arhra tends to grow weary of maintainig the same form after a while. It is a fickle ability, depending on Arhra's emotional and physical state at the time and has been known to trigger on it own, sometimes at inconvenient moments. This ability has proven to be nearly useless - the number of times Arhra has made any use of it can be counted upon the fingers of one tomato.

Comprehension: Subcontracted out to Arhra by Cheshire Thief, this is the ability to understand the meaning of what people are saying. Is amazing. However, to activate it's power Arhra must shout "COMPREHENDS!"

Appearance: Form I, Rhiya’s weakest yet most persistently respawning form, Form II, a gigantic-sized Chaos Diamond Dragon, little is known about Rhiya’s third form, only for the fact that it is named Wrath Manifest. Wrath Manifest appears to be a deathly beautiful woman dressed in writhing deep red clothing similar to the style Rhiya’s first form wears. Wisps of it seem to evaporate into a seething aura of anger and fury around her form. Wrath Manifest’s eyes are a pitiless black, orbless, and her hair lengthens, darkens and writhes about her person. Those lush feathery wings become bony, draconic protrusions, and her very words command barely-constrained anger.
Weapons/Items: Rhiya’s Claws of Evisceration were introduced in the Third Episode of NPF Avatars. One of the claws are made of solid Chaos, while the other is made of Reverse Chaos. Rhiya in both her humanoid forms use these to deadly proficiency.
In form I, Rhiya’s wings are her main weaponry. As Wrath Manifest, her aura is power enough.
Special Abilities:
RFS: Rhiya’s Ferociousnessity Scale, indicated by a small thermometer orbiting Rhiya’s head at all times. Rhiya doesn’t know of its existence, as it is there only to serve as ample warning for other people. The scale is from 0 through to 100, although if people manage to fire her over 100, expect some nasty changes.

Amorphous Wings: in Form I, Rhiya’s wings are a subconscious extension of herself. However, she still has some sort of control over them, and can harden, soften, stretch and shape the wings in a wild array of possibilities. It is safe to say that Rhiya uses this to the best of her advantage, but even with that, it’s hard to say what she can block and what she can’t.

Wrathful Aura: as Wrath Manifest, Rhiya’s body is covered in a 3-inch-thick layer of pure anger to the point it’s nearly boiling off her. Such pure, barely-restrained passion causes strange phenomenons when coming into the flawed flesh of other creatures. Being hit by Wrath Manifest is like being struck by lightning coupled with a freight train and a meteor elephant (well, not like that, but it hurts still, cuz women hit harder). Lesser creatures burn from Wrath Manifest’s fury.

Draconic Form: Gifted to her by the great dragon God Fencershinryuu, Rhiya can assume this form at will, resizing it to any height she wishes. In this form, Rhiya has some quirks that are hard to get over. One: frequent rampages. At barely any notice, Rhiya will roar violently and attempt to rampage and trample her opponent or anybody that gets in her way. The usual sufferers are Twiddy, Raiden, MammothTank and a couple of other unfortunate NPFers. Two: Taste for NPFer flesh. Rhiya’s Tking tendencies put her in the situation of plenty of fresh meat. In between adventures, Rhiya has developed a taste for Raiden’s Godly flesh and Twiddy’s wizardly meat. However, Rhiya has managed to successfully nullify the damaging effects of this habit by shrinking herself to fly-size and gnawing constantly on Raiden’s shoulder, ear, neck, hair and cheek.

Respawning: Although Form I is piss-easy to kill, Rhiya is nonetheless very resistant to Death, and very persistent in coming back. All her other forms, however, have lost this ability.
Rhiya constantly respawns HALO I style, with a plasma pistol and a rifle.

Extra:Although Rhiya has access to the first two forms at will, becoming the Manifestation of Wrath is a process that requires Rhiya to hit over 700 in her RFS counter. As of such, until she gets there, she’s just a weak little rampager.

Name: DarkCORN!

Appearance: Demon form of avatar. Black skin, purple wings, claws, horns, blonde hair, grey shirt, blue jeans, red eyes.

Weapons/ Items: His main weapon being his claws, DarkCORN! also has access to his sword, ragnarok.

Special Abilities:

Flight: In this form, DarkCORN! can grow purple, bat-esque wings that allow him to fly.

Lightining: In a deal with a lightining demon, DarkCORN! gave up every worldly possession (except Ragnarok because it is an extension of his soul.) in exchange for the ability to shoot lightining. This is the same demon that granted him Devil Triggering abilities.

Ragnarok: DarkCORN!'s katana, Ragnarok, has multiple powers. It is indestructable. It can spawn shadow blades, akin to vergil's in DMC3. It can make a very strong shield (can stop bullets and sword blows) around the user for 1 minute once per hour. It also has other smaller powers.

Super Strength: DarkCORN! has demonic strength in this form. He can lift over 2 tons.

Teleportation: DarkCORN! possesses Nightcrawler-like teleportation (travels through a pocket dimension at hyper-speed, limit 2 miles, anyone touching him is also teleported).

I'm going to try and ingrain myself here, so let's see what I can do:

Name: Rezero

Appearance: Floating, brightly-glowing sigils in a roughly circular pattern, usually incorperating dots, circles and line segments.

Weapons/Items: None really. He's entropy manifest, so he kills by eating.

Special abilities:

Force Of Nature: Being entropy itself, Rezero is protected by the very laws of physics. He is undying and indestructible. That isn't to say though that his sentience can't be taken away from him, or that he can't be thrown into another universe.

All consuming: Rezero eats, and must eat continously. Anything, so long as it is energy or matter. Nothing he devours can effect him, but he has to keep his hunger under control to prevent un-intentional TKs.

Matter Manipulation: He can manipulate matter around him, given he concentrates enough. This can be used to give him a more solid form or to create items from thin air. However, this is a un-practiced power, so he'll need more experience using it before he does anything complicated with it.

I'll give it a shot again. Arhra, I hope you can trust me to limit my powers to acceptable levels in play.

Mesia Denostira (AKA: Mesden. Saying her fullname annoys her. Mesia works as well)

Appearance: Hey, check the avvy!

Weapon: Just a golden sword of manifested ethereal energy.

Abilities: Well, Goddess of Ethereal and Spiritual gives her variant control over...spiritual and ethereal things. And do not go into the "I have no soul" thing, because the base of a soul is the binding life force that nearly all things have.

Giving a large list of what I can and cannot do would take a long time. But for the sake of approval, I'll add this.

Through control over 'Ethereal and Spiritual things' Mesia:

Spiritually, she manipulates a certain binding life force that all living things have that ties them into the universe. The level of manipulation directs towards the being's will to which she is manipulating. Most sentient beings have a strong will and thus cannot be stripped of the life force like lesser beings. Other, more innately powerful creatures are the same way. Even though the will is strong, she still holds a strong influence and can attack and alter thusly. (This is where I'll apply the level of things we're fighting to how well she can attack.)

Ethereally, she has a great manipulation over her own realm, the Ethereal Realm of course. It's a universe all to its own, stretched across the laylines of the cosmos. Her body is generally a form of her manifested ethereal presence from her own universe, and with enough time and concentration, she can manifest shapes, objects and even lifeforms wholly in and out of her own universe. Once there, her powers are nigh unlimited, but taking anything significantly powerful into the creation would be nearly impossible without a willful consent from the being. This power can be altered by the severity of her current incarnation on the physical plane. IE: An unknown, magically sealed realm would make it harder to do ethereal realm based things than, say, a random grassland.

Exploitation and considerable uses of these powers can apply. Such as manifesting ethereal energy into a wound on her body to heal it and sending waves of energy forward via causing energy to flow forward in her world and manifest thusly.

This does have the possibility to go overboard, so Arhra, feel free to warn me whenever I do as such.

Extra: Well, apprehensive at first, but after the last overly emotional episode, she's spent her time with the forumers and has become one of them. Much more casual nowadays.

Since when have demons been Jedi? At best, you MIGHT possess rudimentary Sith or Krath abilities, DarkCORN. Furthermore, jedi wield LIGHTSABRES, not Katana.

Besides, do you REALLY want to be unkillable? You know that's like asking "please find ways to kill me, or randomly slaughter me whenever you feel like it since it won't do more than send me home."

Name: Archmage Dragonsbane

Appearance: Avatar

Weapons/Items: A variety of minor artifacts, such as little wands with a few utility spells like "Create Food", the Talamune Daiklave (that's a "sword"), and an enhanced Staff of the Magi.

Special Abilities: MAGIC, BIG EPIC BLACK MAGIC. Essentially Arcane magic from Dungeons and Dragons. Occasional transformations into other forms given certain circumstances. These circumstances are all plot related, and include a sufficiently dramatic near-death event (Villain, remember?) OR a sufficient imbalance in the universe.

Special Notes: A hobo living on the streets of NPF.

Name: Flare Cobra
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Class: Dragoon/Fire Elemental (Phoenix)
Race: Lamia
Weapons: Primary- Spear, Secondary- Whip

Bio- At a young age, Flare was taken by a human family, and when she was 3years old, she was taken to a sage and turned into a human. When she was 10, she started her training as a Fighter, with dreams of becoming a dragoon knight. Not long after mastering the basics, she took up the spear, and begain her training to be a full Dragoon Knight. When she was in her mid-teens, she came across a wounded Phoenix. Dispite the heat and flames from it's body, Flare tried to treat it's injuries. However, a bandit group attacked, hoping to take the phoenix's feathers for use as Phoenix Downs, but Flare fought back, however she was knocked out, and the phoenix attacked. However, before the bandits got to it, it berst into flames, killing it's would-be killers, but it had expended a lot of it's strength in doing so, and was unable to self-ressurect, so it entered Flare's body, using their shared strength to sustain themselves. In return for Flare allowing the spirit to inhabit her body, the phoenix allowed Flare to tap into some it's powers and abilities, thus giving Flare the ability to use Magic, and be able to use fire to heal and refresh herself, and to self-ressurect if need be. For the next four years, she worked as a freelancer, then 4 years later she came across an archmage who came foreward with a very tempting offer. If she worked for him, she would be given her own unit of solders to command, and several unique relics. She accepted, and was given the rank of General, and several new relics, including a new spear, a new suit of armor which was much tougher then her old armor, and finally, a stone that awakened her Lamia side, and unlocked a hidden ability to shift from human to lamia. Also using the stone she could shift into another form, granted that the form was already stored in the stone. To date, In addition to her human and lamia forms, she can sometimes be seen in a dragongirl form, and even a slimegirl form. It is also rumored that under great duress, such as when she is heavly wounded, The Phoenix in her awakens and she turns into a phoenix-human hybrid, possessing great destructive power.

Firestrike: leaps into the air, catches weapon on fire, comes down causing a small explosion that damages nearby enemies. Fire elemental damage
Fireshield: a ring of fire surrounds her, causing any attacker to be burned. Fire elemental damage
Flame Twister: Creates a tornadio of fire, causing all nearby enemies to be flung about in the air. Fire/Wind damage
Fire Blast: A beam of fire is fired at one enemy. Fire damage
Firestorm: Storm clouds gather overhead, and fireballs start to rain down on the surrounding area. Fire damage, unblockable
Flare: Creates a half-dozen balls of fire, then hurls them at an enemy, detonating them at impact causing a large explosion. Fire damage, unblockable
Mega Flare: Blasts a powerful blast at enemies, obliterating anything in it's path. (Just like Bahamut's attack) Fire damage, unblockable.
Terra-Flare: Fires an extremely powerful beam, upon detonation explodes with the force of a 100-megaton nuclear device.
Shapeshift: Can change into one of 5 forms, thanks to a transformation stone.

Human: Average strength, speed, magic. Higher agility and defense.
Lamia: Lower strength, lower speed, High magic, lower defense.
Dragongirl: High strength, Higher speed, Low magic, Higher agility, Average defense.
Slimegirl: Averege Strength, Average speed, High magic, High agility, Extremely high defense.
Phoenix: Ultimate form, all attrubutes at max.

*Additonal Elemental abilities*

Fire weapon: Can use natural abilities to create weapons. Non-elemental damage
Sacred Fire: Flames spring up all around a single enemy, burning them severely. Holy/Fire damage
Flame Whip: Flames cover lower 1/2 of arms and hands, and reaches out 10 feet. Attacks a single enemy repeatedly. Fire damage
Pheonix Talons: Barehanded attacks gain slashing and fire damage.
Healing Fire: Blue flames surround friendlies, curing them. Healing.
Pheonix Flame: Revives fallen friendly. Healing.


*Note: Due to her status as a General, she can call in troops to fight by her side. I'll post their stuff when I think of it.

Name: Naymedo (Newb, as controlled by Tyrant, is busy preparing for world domination at the moment, but Naymedo is free to wander around and wreak some havoc)
Appearance: Wisps of silvery light in human shape, nearly always completely covered. Hair is composed of thinner wisps and flows three feet behind him when it isn't kept bound and hidden. Currently wears brown denim carpenter pants, a blue buttondown with a pattern of thick dark, thin light striped vertically, black hiking boots, dark green gloves, and a complete face mask, which is black with a horizontal green stripe at eye level completely circling it.
Weapons/Items:
Interactive Bodysuit: Naymedo's clothing is actually a specially designed suit which allows him to interact with things on the physical plane. Were it to be destroyed, he would essentially be rendered, for most practical purposes, dead. He could theoretically get a new one, although this would take a while. He was supposed to recieve a large shipment of outfits, but apparently the transport vessel was waylaid by some "heroes" who wanted to stop some overlord or other and decided that hijacking a commercial freighter and dumping the cargo into a random distribution terminal (those things that put the treasure chests in those caves that nobody has ever been to before) was the best way to do this.
Special Abilities:
Ghost of a ghost: Naymedo used to be a ghost, but then was killed again and all that was left of him was a ghost of that ghost. Bets on how much more it's even possible to kill him?
Reality Enhancement: Any item or being he concentrates on will become more so themselves. a sharp knife will become sharper, a wide spoon will become wider, and, unfortunately, a useless hobo will become even more useless and possibly even stinkier, although that might require some rethinking on the theory of olfactory physics.
