Name: Kadmon Project - Unit 402; Artificial Biological Servitor (Short version: call me KP)
Appearance: Modeled after the original Kneumatic Pnight’s favored form. A somewhat unassuming man who stands about 5' 4" and has pale skin. His hair is long and argent and tied back simply with a black band and his eyes are stark grey. He always wears a three-piece suit; light grey with a red tie, brown expensive-looking shoes, a gold pocket watch, and silver-rimmed spectacles. A dingy, dark-grey overcoat emblazoned with the EdenTech symbol is typically worn over this. Weapons/Items: Flight Pack KP has a flight device composed of four metallic ‘wings’ on a small backpack-like device that provide good maneuverability and the moderate speed of about 65 miles per hour (or about 104.5 kilometers per hour for you uneducated types.) The flight system has a recharging power cell that can be used any number of times, but only for three minutes at a time, at which point, it must let rest for approximately half an hour before re-use (or one minute for every ten of rest.) This flight time can be elongated by dedicating energy from his ‘core’. This flight system has the potential downside that if its energy cell is disrupted substantially during use, it has the unfortunate tendency to... how you say... explode horribly. Proteus Device (Prototype 13) The Proteus Device as designed by EdenTech Industries, or, rather, one of the early ones. The device itself is attached to a reinforced cold-iron gauntlet with retractable serrated blades along the fingers. This device is directly grafted to KP’s right hand. This device was designed to let KP decipher and mimic any power he came across, but this prototypical version is unable to decipher new inputs due to the lack of computer interface and minuscule onboard computer. However, since KP cannot directly interface with other machines, this was deemed acceptable. Instead, Prototype 13 relies on onboard chipsets to provide power information. The hardware has enough slots for eight chipsets, but some sets based on particularly complicated (read powerful) metaphysical abilities require multiple chips and, therefore, multiple slots. Chipsets Because his main weapon, the PDP-13, relies on these chipsets to work, KP tends to have some with him. He will start out the current RP with these: Defensive Chipset mk 1 This chipset enables the Proteus Device to cast the simple white magic spells of Protect, Shell, and Reflect. These spells were part of the preliminary testing. (One slot) Drain Chipset This chipset grants KP the power to siphon off energy via physical contact. Thus weakening opponents while strengthening himself. It also gives him a resilience against energy attacks. This would also allow KP to obtain some of the supernatural abilities of those he kills with the draining touch. However, never having used the touch before, KP currently has no such abilities. This ability was blatantly stolen from Arhra. (Two slots) Frenetic Chipset This chipset is a modified form of Twiddy’s speed and haste spells. Designed to be the simplest, most effective way to speed up the user. It raises KP’s movement speed, makes him more able to evade, and more quick to strike. This is good as, otherwise, KP is almost universally inept in physical combat. (One slot) Aerokinetic Chipset This chipset gives KP the ability to manipulate the air around him to a moderate degree. This effect generally revolves around the old anime standbys of blades of air and concussive blasts, but it can also be used to create strong, continuous gusts. Tornados are theoretically possible, but usually this involves massive ‘core’ depletion or hooking the device up to a secondary power source. (Two slots) Convalescent Chipset The Convalescent Chipset is mostly dedicated to self-healing by granting slow self-regenerative abilities. It does, however, sport a chakra-like ability that heals and calms on touch in case KP needs to be more ‘tactical’ with his healing. (One Slot) Basic Chipset mk 1 The most basic of chipsets ever developed, this moderately useful one allows KP to shoot a blast of energy over mid-range (about 100 feet or 30.5 meters.) Very basic. (One slot) ------ Chipsets (Cont) KP further has a few chipsets not carried in the PDP-13. These aren’t carried on his person because they’re rather easy to break. Pyrokinetic, Cryokinetic, Electrokinetic, etc. Chipsets See Aerokinetic Chipset except replace basic air with basic magical (insert element). (Two slots apiece) Psionic Chipset Stolen from Black Mage Girl’s mind powers, the Psionic Chipset would grant KP control over weaker-willed, non-mindless creatures. However, unlike most powers, the mind powers enacted require an active mental presence to sustain them, meaning that KP can only enact this power on one creature at a time. (Three slots) Phoenix Chipset This chipset grants KP the power to revive those who have died in the past ten minutes. However, even this limited ability costs a rather large amount of ‘core’ energy, possibly large enough to drain KP’s ‘core’ completely. (Three slots) Whore Ray Chipset This chipset fires a beam that changes the targets clothes into a tube top, miniskirt, fishnets, and hooker boots. This has a chance of affecting magical items at the GM's discression. This effect wears off after five minutes, but particularly willful or indignant people can cause it to end prematurely. Particularly odd persons can choose to forgo the non-magical wearing-offness with a manifestation of will. (1 slot) ------ Cellular Phone KP has a corporate cellphone. He can... call for pizza. Special Abilities: Recursive Pants Due to early experiments with the SEAL System, KP gained ‘Recursive Pants’. This ability was later passed on to Kadmon Project KP because it was deemed ‘amusing’. The practical upshot is that if KP’s pants are removed in any way, another pair of pants are found beneath. These are identical to the original pants except that anything in the original pockets is now in the recursed pants instead of the original pockets, and that any mess or stain on the original pants isn’t transferred to the recursed pants. These pants recurse even if they are written out of the universe in some way. The same ability is not transferred to the wearer, however. Electronic Brain Positronictacular!! With all that that implies. (It implies that he’s slightly smarter than he would otherwise be.) Meta-sensor KP is equipped with a metaphysical sensors that allow him to ‘read’ the manipulation of mystical energies. Essentially, if a wizard casts a spell, KP is capable of reading exactly how this spell was cast. If he were capable of casting spells on his own, he could do so, but he isn’t and never will be. However, he does know exactly why that spell is being cast. This does not impart a knowledge of what that spell will do; he may have to get hit by the fireball before he realizes that it’s a fireball. Theoretically, once he sees a spell, he can predict its next happening by comparing the energy manipulation. Usually, though, this information is stored in the electronic ‘black box’ in KP’s brain, where it is relayed to EdenTech Industries. Meta-tech KP is capable of using the above information in one way, however. He can use it to craft chipsets. With access to a laboratory and a few days to work, KP can craft a chipset of a previously seen metaphysical ability (provided GM allowance). EdenTech Industries Influence KP was created by, outfitted by, and connected to EdenTech Industries. As such he can contact them for minor services (money, airship ride, explosives). However, the original KP is a lazy uncaring bastard and most of EdenTech Industries don’t really give a shit either. Provided the request even gets through the bureaucracy, they may simply decide not to do anything. (Essentially, the GM gets to decide if and when my request gets through.) Power Core Now we get to the ‘heart’ of the matter, so to speak. To enhance KP’s abilities beyond a simple, pathetic clone-thing, KP was outfitted with an energy ‘core’ that can interface with technology. It can power not only his flight pack extra time, but also his Proteus Device and any electronic system that just needs to get powered up along the way. However, the practical downside is that it is single-use. In short, it cannot be recharged, and it will eventually run out. Heavy use of powers, interfacing with machinery, or continued action can cause the core to cut out. Heavy damage can also damage the core in ways that aren’t apparent. An injury or inherent instability in the core makeup can cause the core itself to simply shut down without warning. This completely shuts down KP. While occasionally a core will seem to shut down, but later re-initialize, this is a rather uncommon occurrence. A core, once depleted, can not be re-initialized by any means. Healing magic has no effect on the core’s energy supply. Neither interfacing with power cores, nor the Drain power can increase the core energy, though the second may make the core output requirement for physical activity go down for a while. (Free GM kill switch. While you technically had one anyway, this is supposed to be guilt free. Use it whenever you want. You can even un-use it later.) |
DB, I still tihnk that is somewhat vague, but given the rapidly approaching start of the RP, I will grant approval. Just be careful.
Twiddy: Exposition inspected, approval granted. KP, looks good. Approved. The RP is likely to be starting some time in the next 8 hours. |
Editted my profile.

Newb, this is not how I was given to understand how your teleportation ability worked. If the nanites are only capable of manipulating matter, they can't somehow miraculously teleport said matter. My understanding was that they broke Syttulg down, transported the parts and then reassembled them. Also, if these nanites are so immensely reliant on Syttulg for power, I find it questionable they could operate on their own for so long.
Incidently, this may be just the time to expound on my iron-fistiness. I'm employing a very low tolerance for god-modding. One warning is all you will get. I will take it into consideration if it just turns out to be a misunderstanding, but otherwise I won't be giving second chances. |
I was mailing them and having them reactivate upon arrival.
They don't actually move him. One side breaks them down and transmits the blueprints to the other side, which then rebuilds him. |
Newb, that is not what you said. If they were to transmit blueprints and construct a new body on the other side, they would need the appropriate raw materials. It isn't possible to do matter conversion without expending a horrendous amount of power and you have to operate on a subatomic scale to do such a thing.
And I'm being nice in that I'm allowing to pass the fact that the nanites would also have to record not only things like exact brain structure but also the charge on each part of the brain. It essentially comes down to the fact that rp-wise, nanites are one of the most abusable pieces of technology. They are something that have quite a few exaggerations about them. Anyway, it essentially comes down to this. Your ability requires a significant number of nanites at both ends to function and unless the nanites are simply breaking Syttulg down and transporting the parts, they need appropriate raw materials at the other end. I'd assume disassembly and reassembly would be far from instantaneous. |
Insects in general just don't like me.
Dear fellow belovd NPFers, I am sorry to have not been able to post as of late, due to the flea uprising. You see, I thought I had vanquished the flea menace, but nay, they sallied up their troop and rebounded from nigh extinction to reclaim the downstairs, and I was away from my computer the entire time. Sorries.
I totally would get to typing right now, but sadly another dilemma has crossed my path. The flea pesticides made me sick, and vacuuming raised up such a dust cloud that It clogged my lungs. I was sick, and sick for the time I was gone. But then, alas, I was pressured to do yard work as soon as I got better. Well, fate hates me, becasue the very second I did yard work, there were yellowjackets. And a yellowjacket nest. I hurt. Oh gods, do I hurt. I was smart to wear long pants, but not to wear a damn long sleeved shirt. I sting. I burn. The motherF#%*#*ing yellow *#&*$#(*jacketseven followed me into my house, and I had to kill them all within mine own shower, as mother and brother asked like idiots "What's wrong?" Oh sure. I'm screaming profanities and rolling on the ground, a buzzing noise has filled the air, and they just think I'm reimagining that war I never went to. Yellowjackets in teh mother @#$#ing hole! So, I cannot post until My arms work again. As of current, I'm dictating this to my brother, who seems to have edited much of my curses, but before I go cry in the corner as I have calamine lotion scrubbed over my arms, I have one thing to say. OWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! |
Well, in the source material I'm copying, the teleportation is instantaneous, but you do have a good point.
Can we assume that they used the rubble from Rhiya's landing, and in the future, all teleports will take more than one post, with you saying whether it worked or not in between? |
Nein, my sympathies. I hope you're feeling better afterwards.
Newb: instantaneous teleportation is a little hard for nanites. Also, Arhra didn't say it was POISON that she spiked the drinks and food with. |
Thus, two posts with a chance of failure.
Also, no, she didn't, but Syttulg would have assumed that it was. |
