Musicianship

Does anybody else here play(ed) a musical instrument? I know of a few, and I'm curious to see what, if at all, everybody else plays.

As for me, I play trombone.

This could probably go in general, maybe?

I play(ed) the guitar... I wasn't terrible at it, but I just didn't keep up with it. I guess I enjoyed listening to music more than I did making it.

I'm learning guitar. I know jack about it, but I'll get better.

I've been playing tenor saxophone for six years now, and I'm still gonna play it for probably the rest of my life.

As side instruments, I also play the alto and soprano saxophones on a regular basis, but I don't own a bariton...yet.
I also play a little bit of piano, but don't ask me to play any Chopin or whatever.
I tried to play some Flugelhorn(kinda trumpet) for about a month, but then I had to return it to the shop; I had only rented it.

Finally, I also sing as a past time, but I used to be in a choral(singing group?)...does the voice count as an intrument?:shifty:

Trumpet, French Horn, Mellophone (think forward-facing, marching-style French Horn).

Favorite type of music to play? Jazz. Specifically Latin jazz. I like playing high fast stuff.

Hadn't picked up a horn in about 2 years since graduating high school. Went to a local community college's band program, stayed for about 2 weeks, left due to time issues. Taking 15 hours of classes in a given semester isn't good for free time.

Flute, Piccolo, Tenor Saxophone, Alto Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Clarinet, Oboe, and I'm just learning trumpet now.

My Tenor is probably my fave, and I love to play funk stuff. Not disco, disco sucks, but funk is really fun to play.

I used to play piano (electric piano, keyboard) and guitar, but that was like, 4th grade. I can still kinda play, but at a very limited level.

Besides, I do all my music on the computer these days - sequencing. I'd still pick up the guitar and piano if I wanted to, but it's not like I'll die if I don't.

I can drum at a grade 7 level, out 8 grades I think it is? So I'm alright.

The thing is, I kinda stopped playing now, so my skill'll be draining away. It's ashame, but hey hum. I've got a strong rhythm now, thankfully. I guess the other problem for me is that I have pretty underweight and under-worked out arms and legs, so towards the end, the really physical stuff (triplets on the bassdrum, single pedal) got ridiculously hard for me.

I can't play another thing at all, but I'd love to be able to play piano/keyboard.

Absolutly. Just becuase it is naturally occurring does not mean it cannot considered an instrument of music.

I played violin for 8 years. I was okay at it; enough to perform the violin solo from "Dust in the Wind" for my senior solo piece before graduation, if that means anything. Wasn't good enough to audition into an orchestra outside of school though. That and the fact that I wouldn't be with my friends. Me and three other friends comprised the Card Hut--I think we played more cards than instruments junior year--and it wouldn't have been the same without them. But I digress.

I also more or less play guitar. By which I mean I can play a few songs pretty well, and not much else. I really can't do rhythm guitar at all. I'm more of a finger picking type. And I prefer nylon strings... If I have a guitar in my hands, you can bet I'll probably be playing Blind Guardian or Pink Floyd. Or "Dust in the Wind". ;)

I can't sing worth a damn, though I wish I could.
