Skyshot, you're gonna have to wait for your help. It looks like I might die. Silly Insane level opponents.
You know, I was just thinking, "I should go heal Fenris real quick," and then, "Wait, I'm kinda busy now," and get here and see, "Oh, he's having the same problem."

Isn't this a fun little fight.

So, Arhra, what does happen if I cast a spell that makes earth quake on an earth-based being?

Bailey 08-04-2006 12:42 PM

Damnit Skyshot! First you steal my chair, then you steal my dance partner!

Arhra said one for everybody!

:p

Actually, what I said is that there is one per person. They can and will gang up on people.

And Mesden, being a lover of anti-climax and irony as I am, I'm saying you petrify first. After all, the dryad has significant advantages in that you'll become less able to direct your ability the more petrified you become while the soul attack wouldn't really influence the dryad's ability to petrify. It can free itself from your grasp by trying to petrify your hands. There is a degree of localisation of petrification to where they hit you after all. Incidentally, the dryad will still be weakened. Soul attacks hurt.

Oh, while I think of it, since this came up partially before and may come up now, I should mention I dislike the game-based logic of Esuna being a miraculous cure all. It will help alleviate 'status effects', but it can't always automatically wipe away such effects. Its much the same way a potent healing spell might help someone badly wounded get back into the fight, doesn't exactly totally refill someone's health like Fullheal might.

Hey Ahrha, am I on the right track here? I think that wood dryads could be killed if someone chopped down their tree, so I assume that the same principle applies to the stone dryads? Or do I have my mythology wrong?

Also- I was gonna send Mauve over to help you, Fenris, but I figured you were already dead, or had something planned for your future.

Rhiya Ravenwing 08-05-2006 02:29 AM

Mauve, I killed the dryad for you. Now take time to recover and figure out a way to get us all unpetrified damnit! *returns to petrified form*

Arhra 08-05-2006 10:24 AM

No, I'm afraid the dryads aren't linked to trees. Apparently in myth there were two types - the dryads which were general tree spirits and the hamadryads that were tied to a specific tree. I'd always wondered what the difference was.

As for earth quake, my understanding is it specifically targets the ground. I doubt it would be very effective is you did do that to an earth creature somehow - just shake them up a bit. Then again, that could be handy

Arhra, you never did answer my question. Would my Lamia Charm work on them? Also, would that effect remain if I switched forms?

Finally, just as an FYI: I never shifted out of my dragongirl form from when we traveled there.

But Rhiya, you've made a solution to my minimum-range handgun problem!

Go Rhiya! :p
