For the uninitiated...

Brian speaks the truth. ...Well, not quite. His exact words, cut/pasted from the main post, were: "Gao Gai Gar is probably the best show about a guy who's a cyborg who merges with a lion who's a robot to form a bigger robot to merge with a bullet train, a stealth bomber, and an inexplicable drill tank to form the ultimate biggerest robot there is." That is partly right (and includes a fun little pun - on purpose, right?), but also a bit wordy. If you cut away everything between the first 'a' and the last 'robot', you still end up with a totally accurate statement.

The Final Fusion sequence (that is, where the cyborg, lion, shinkansen 500, B-2, and unnamed/impractical drill tank actually combine) is easily the awesomest combination sequence ever. (Look it up on Youtube. Then compare it to Impulse Gundam. Then look up 'Gundam Gaogaigar' and find the mashup...:D)

The final attacks are the best ever. Especially Hammer Hell and Heaven. (Dunno how far you've gotten, Brian, but the show just gets cooler when Goldi Marg shows up in #21). GaoGaiGar does not need wussy weapons, such as beam rifles or swords - he's got the Goldion Hammer.

The characters, while not deep or angsty as appears to be the recent norm, can be described as refreshingly hot-blooded. It's difficult, if not impossible, to watch Commander Taiga and Guy, and NOT feel a need to dramatically pose and yell out even the most mundane of commands. "GARAGE DOOR, OPEN!!!!" *pound button* *button lights up* *door opens* *car and garage fuse into an invincible Super Mechanoid*.

The battles, mostly one-on-one battles between two robots of varying heights, are simply orgasmic. Except when they consist of several robots, in which case they're multi-orgasmic. Especially in #30 and #49.

The various gimmicks (pre- and post-commercial break teasers, and the ones after the next-episode preview) cannot be copied in American broadcasts, but ought to be. The pre-commercial teaser in #44 is easily the best, by far, for reasons that only a fan of older shows can understand (DUA!).

...That's all I can think of now... So until next time, FINAL FUSION ACCEPTED!

I love how the Chief just goddamn loves to approve Final Fusion. I'm less than ten episodes in, but I cannot imagine any situation where he could possibly disapprove of Fusions of a Final nature.

The best spoiler, of course, would be... Taiga yelling "THIS IS THE KEY TO VICTORY!!!!". Totally awesome.

Speaking of Getter Robo... The reference to it in the last episode of FINAL (your caps lock must be busted... from too many Final Fusions :D) is explosively good. ...As is Mic's final attack, but I digress.

That only happens (sorta) in FINAL. ...And if you're not yet ten episodes in, it gets better. Much, much better. Episode 14, for example, brings back an old friend from the past... *glee*

Funfact, Anyone hear see Betterman. Betterman was a spinoff of GGG.

Not sure if y'all know this, but for the opening theme song leading up to this episode, they silenced the attack name. ("DIVIDING DRIVER!!" and "GOLDION HAMMER!!" for the original series - "BROKEN PHANTOM!!" and "(whoshing air sound)" for FINAL.)
