Divinity RP

This is the Nothing, here there is no light and no darkness.
It is composed of nothing, it is not substance, nor is it space
for space needs substance to exist between.
It is neither deep nor shallow.
It is all that is, but not all that could be.
It is Nothing.

You are the errant thought.
The impossible voice that whispers;

"I am"
and so is.

Hello!
You may find that this Rp is a little different from most, as the Storyteller I will be responsible for handling the results of your actions and throwing a few problems in your path but other than that the entirety of the experience is up to you.
Playing as the first gods it will be your job to create, and create you will. The only limits are the boundaries of your imagination. You could carve a world of huge, earthen spheres that hang impossibly, peopled only by disembodied voices or a world of holes contained inside a gilded, silver teacup.
All creation is to be described in a suitably mythic way, there is no creation without effort - beyond that there are few restraints.

To enroll in this game all I need for your character is a name.
I will however, be asking for an RP sample to be messaged to me pending approval. You should understand the necessity of this in a game which allows so much power to fall in the hands of you, the players.
Hoping to hear from some wonderfully creative people.
Yours Luma-es

Name: Typhon

Sample: (Oh btw its from a warhammer rp site. Anlec is the dark elf capital that was raised loooooong ago)

The dawn was beautiful, a great arc of orange gold filling the eastern sky with melding colours beyond the skill of mortal artists. The sea was just regaining its blue from the shades of night and what remained of the great walls seemed almost to glow with the light of the rising sun. Ruined homes stared at him, empty windows like the eyes of hollow skulls. Ash still piled about in dunes in the lee of the wind and every glance dragged up new memories he had thought he had forgotten.

But he could not forget, no one could be allowed to forget this, the injustice that had been committed here. He had been born and raised here, and they tore it apart as if it were naught. The gardens filled with paper lanterns, in his mind though the laughter turned to screams and the lanterns to the raging inferno raging that had consumed every dream he had ever had.

He kicked an ash mound and sighed. There were new dreams, other cities, but then there always had been, but they were not his dream and they would never be his City. How long had it been now since the temples had been torn down by fiery eyed peasants, how long since their frothing demagogues had torched the library and smashed the statues, his memory had never been perfect, but the City had been burnt into his mind by its very destruction.

How could something so… eternal be reduced to this shattered ruin, the City had been there since time immemorial and would be there till all else was dust and chaos. How could things be otherwise? We are strong, we had thought, we are wise. How could we not predict the end, this end, this horrible blasted ruin scoured with magic, fire and steel, so different and yet like the mutant from the man it was still so recognisable.

Here, I danced away the night, here I first leant to use a blade, here I fell as a boy and was picked up by a total stranger, here I perched on a statues plinth while the prince rode through the crowded streets, faster and faster they came, here, here, here. Wandering aimlessly through the streets now, kicking at the ash and watching the dust like flakes dance.

It was the people who he mourned for most of all. There were many now with their new cities and new dreams who claimed the City for their ancestors, they raved about their fierceness, yes they were but all forgot they were fierce in love as in wroth and fierce in kinship as they were in feud. These children spoke of the tall walls and mighty towers, but he remembered the glorious gardens and the Sculptors Court where gods and hero’s were freed from great blocks of marble or basalt. But the young forgot, they always had.

Who would not, could not, demand vengeance against those who would destroy to wantonly? Once his soul had screamed for it, but age cooled all passions and all he had now was loss. He felt cold and empty, it shouldn’t look so beautiful, but it did even now the stones glowed with the lustre of a new day.

Standing on the crumbling stump of a once great arcing bridge, in the distance, his sight unmarred by age, he could see the sails still dark with the light of dawn silently sweeping into the river mouth. He would have his vengeance on these defilers, these hateful destroyers of everything he had ever once hoped for. As the leading sleek black vessel pulled into the ruin of the dock he took one last look around. It shouldn’t look so damn beautiful.

But then the dawn had always been beautiful in Anlec…

I'd just like to express my interest in joining. Now all I need do is come up with a name...

You just had to leave the hardest part of character creation in, didn't you?!

Rhiya Ravenwing 07-25-2006 06:18 PM

I'm extremely interested in your RP, Lumaes.

I'll get an RP piece to you when I have the time. For now... A NAME!

Tserrth

Thar we goes.

Lumaes 07-26-2006 01:47 AM

I'm gladdened by a show of interest!
Whightwolf, Typhon is approved though you should have sent your sample directly to me.
Arhra and Rhiya, although I trust in your abilities (from what I've seen in the past) in the interests of impartiality I'll still wait on a sample from each of you.
Any questions are welcome, from anyone.

Whightwolf 07-26-2006 05:41 PM

Yeah sorry about that wasnt thinking.

Questions!

Do we pick our own domains? When are they handed out if not? Are we creating the world? if so do we each get our own dimension, hall, throne, whatever to be entirely our own?

More coming lol

Lumaes 07-26-2006 06:25 PM

Domains aren't concrete, thats the main reason why nothing was required but a name. As gods you shape the world after your own vision of it, rather than domains gods would simply be more accomplished in certain areas depending on what they create. Yes, you are creating a world. As for the dimensions, halls and thrones that's not up to me, remember though, that initially you don't even have a shape let alone physical form. (I would, perhaps, frown on extra dimensions as they have a habit of complicating things unnessescarily)
Hope that helps

Rhiya Ravenwing 07-27-2006 05:07 AM

Apparently, I've been approved. Woot!

When shall this be starting? I want to start Creatamafying!

Whightwolf 07-27-2006 06:10 AM

Seconded.

How many Gods are you waiting for?

Lumaes 07-28-2006 12:41 AM

There's no set date for the start at the moment. At the least I'll wait for Arhra's sample. I had hoped for a starting batch of five gods but there's nothing to stop other players joining mid-game.
It should be starting soon at any rate, at the very longest by the end of next week.
