An iPod's final resting place
My iPod has died. It had a bad run in with the pacific ocean and I don't think it can be revived. The salt water definatly fried it internally, I make a living fixing stuff like this and I believe it's 100% fried. Now, on with the thread.
It's one of the first models to come out, the one with all touch sensitive buttons. My question is this: What should I make out of it? I've gone over the practical (belt buckle, swiss army knife style thing, lighter) to the impractical (transformers toy). I'm here to ask for more suggestions and ideas. I've already googled this and found that not many people are willing to take a dremel tool to a dead iPod. No idea is too extreme, this thing is dead and I'm good at modifications. So, what'll it be? |
Make it an ash tray.
It's either that or you could make it like a little tazer. |
Web cam/microphone/speaker. Buy a PS2 eyetoy, rip it apart, put the guts in your Ipod case along with the guts from one of those headset things...
Or really, any kind of computer peripheal. |
I like the idea of an ipod tape recorder. Just for the irony of it.

Perhaps a wireless optical mouse?

I mean, they're almost the same. |
Meh. Just flush the damn thing. iPods are worthless anyhow.

Gut it and turn the case into a mint holder?
Ooh! Makeup case! A lighter would be pretty cool. So would a flashlight. A tape recorder would be nice and ironic. If you're nice and sick and twisted, stick little speakers in there, and a really cheap MP3 player. Then let people ask "How did you get your iPod to play without headphones." Tell them "I threw it in the atlantic ocean, and the salt water corroded away the first layer of metal in the headphone jack. This made it vibrate a lot easier, so it's now a speaker." |
I got it! Gut a gameboy and Mod the iPod casing to fit in the buttons, guts, and carts. See if you have room for a smaller mp3 player in their somewhere (maybe a crappy sony thingy or an iPod shuffle gut?) and it'll be pretty sw337.

Hollow it out and make a case for an iPod Nano/Shuffle.
Perhaps a carrying case for coinage? Take a small, non-flip cell phone, and put it in the case. I think an iLighter sounds awesome. Put a small, pocket-sized Bible in there to make an iBible. I'm just throwing ideas out there. |
