The new James Bond
Is it just me, or does the new James Bond (Daniel Craig) look more like a Bond villian than Bond himself?
|
No more so than Timothy Dalton did.
And for those not up-to-date on recent Bond news, here's a link. |
I was pretty unimpressed with 'Lay3r Cake' all around, so that doesn't bode terribly well.
Isn't there like a rule with Bond flicks, where every other Bond fucks it up? I'd hate to see them break the tradition. |
Was Roger Moore one of the ones that fucked it up?
EDIT: Not Alan Moore, Roy, you asshole, Roger Moore. |
As far I remember it's like, Sean Connery, some guy nobody gave a shit about, Roger Moore, some guy nobody gave a shit about, Pierce Brosnan.
Timothy Dalton was one of the guys nobody gave a shit about, the other guy, I have no idea who he was, aside from another guy nobody gave a shit about. |
The title of the next Bond film somewhat annoys me. I don't care whether Ian Flemming used it first or not; "Casino Royale" will always remind me of the Woody Allen spy flick of the same name, I'm afraid. I'll keep expecting cowboys to jump through the windows at some point, or for the villain to swallow a pill that releases a thousand tiny atomic explosions over a short peroid of time.
Damn. Now the Casino Royale themesong is stuck in my head. |
I'm somewhat optimistic about the new film myself.

And I'll say Roger Moore sucks as well, it's between Connery and Brosnan really, or to put it better between Goldfinger and Goldeneye. |
Well first off the other Bond was George Lazenby in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (which I remember without even having to look at the shelf o' Bond movies behind me) He was the Bond that got married so yes, he sucked mightily. He wasn't even British for cryin' out loud. He was Australian. He came after Roger Moore but only did the one film. Timothy Dalton did The Living Daylights and License to Kill in the 80s and yeah, he wasn't that great. MGM actually offered the part to Pierce Brosnan for those movies but he was under contract to CBS at the time for The Scarecrow and Mrs. King.
But anyhow, there's been no real pattern for Bond-actor suckhood. Hell, even Sean Connery managed to be a less-than-wonderful Bond in Never Say Never Again -- the only Bond not done by MGM and the one they always ignore when they count how many Bond movies exist (it was made by Orion Pictures). As for Casino Royale? It's been a long time coming. That was the name of Fleming's first Bond story which was, in fact, a really good read. What really worries me is the direction the franchise took with Die Another Day. That movie was a crap-gasm that tried to make Bond just another action movie. If they do that again I think I'll be sick. But if they put the Brit back in Bond I think I'll be happy. Also, just for the record, John Cleese is cool but the movies just haven't been the same since Desmond Llywellen died. And, reading back over all that, I have a confession to make. My name is Geek. Bond Geek. |
That guy looks like he is the type that would cut you in half with a lazer on the first evil plot.

I can't say much about the guy other than A) Yes he does look like a villain and B) It will kill me as I involuntarily sit and watch him get all the girls. With Brosnan and Connery and all that? Sure. Yeah. I see that. Him?! Oh dear... |
