A Story, Page 4: If it isn't Baroque, don't fix it
|
So it was simple all along. I bet the people looking too deep into it must feel vain right now.
|
Wait, so darkness is caused by evil aliens causing us unhappiness? Hrmm. I wonder what idiots in the real world have been telling us crap like that...
|
All we got out of today's strip was a very Greek metaphor about how the Day and the Night will chase each other until the end of time. That hardly simplifies things. There is still much to speculate on... for example, if the Trickster is neither Darkness nor Light, was he born from the wound just like the earth?
Or, did Light need to create the wound in Darkness in order to exist? If you think about it, this is very similar to how matter is created in our universe... my Physics teacher used the metaphor of cookie dough. You can cut a cookie (matter) out of cookie dough (energy) and it will leave behind a cookie-shaped hole (antimatter). If the matter (cookie) and the antimatter (cookie hole) come in contact, they will annihilate each other (cookie fills cookie hole) and release energy (cookie dough). If this is the case, though, what happens when Darkness finally catches up with Light? Total destruction, that's what! |
It's been chasing it for millions of years. I don't think light is about to give out just yet.
And we still have one more day to go. |
I find it odd that the Trickster god in this story plays the part of caretaker and protector.
Not usually the sort of role you see them having. |
To me it seems more like the Trickster doesn't want to share his little 'loot with anybody else (read, the darkness), hence why he hides the world and later mends its rip, in order to prevent more darkness from coming.

Also, I love how the comic is progressing. I'm eager to find out what Trickster and Man are going to do to round out the 8BT creation story. |
Here's what I see in the very soon future "and thus is the story of how the planet was created! Now who wants to finish the story of the lightwarriors or the time I went to the bathroom for three days straight after taco night?"

Heh. I like "A story". Very Adam and Eve-ish kind of thing. And the artwork is just amazing. As for the confusion between this and the White Mage/Sarda creating the world, here's how I see it.
White mage creates Light when she sees the speck. Wether this is that weird turban-goddess or just light makes no difference. Then she says "nothing goood can come of this" which may or may not have made monsters and evil. Then she wishes up matter, life, then her return to the future. In A Story, the darkness (made concious by "nothing good" or "life") is mad at the creation of light and matter, and tries to get rid of it. Then Trickster seals it away, Shadow tears it open, and night and day are made. There ya go. In any words, great job on A Story, Kurosen... or should I say, BLACK MAGE? |
