Questioning the motivations to each character

First Black Mages, how can such a hatefull person be born? I was wondering and pondering this for a few days as to what would make BM who is he is today, was kinda interesting anyhow. My later conclusion was maybe his parents paid him no attention and he thought he would get some by killing his brothers/sisters like he did, that and his brothers/sisters were prolly idiots beyond belief.

Red Mage might have just grown up playing lots of games and admiring people and aspires to be as knowledgable as them...

Thief prolly just picked up from his father and got worse over his travels away from home around the criminal cities.

Fighter was a bit of another mystery I can't even begin to think of how one could be so stupid that it even breaks all that makes sense! He must either be missing 50% of his chromosones from birth and so his mind isn't growing plus he musta grown up in an environment surrounded by nothing but swords and no magic or I dunno what :P

What would be your opinions on how each of them grew up to be the way they are today?

Theif is an elf prince. Need I say more?

BM was probably a selfish kid who always got what he wanted, untill his brother went blind. His parents then spent more time with BM's brother that BM got envyess, to say the least. So there was only solution, kill all his siblings. After doing so his parents horrorfied the couldn't keep BM. So, they sent him to Black Mage school, which BM verry mad. So mad he hated almost every living thing.

RM was raised that way by the council of Red Mages.

Fighter has inffinante knoledge. Most of it about swords.

The ironic thing is how these little skits are against a very specific rule.

No, what's ironic are the spelling errors in the original post. Let's leave people's little letter twists alone, shall we?

Or the spelling error in the character skit. >.>

On topic: They were raised that way for the sole purpose of ending up the way they are, because they are the quirks that make the comic funny.

Also, Fighter isn't stupid. Just naïve, as Brian has stated many times.

Not to be rude, but that's a load of BS. There are plenty of times that Brian plays off of the idea that Fighter is an idiot, regardless of how naïve. Sword-chucks? That was supposed to demonstrate how completely stupid Fighter was until Brian did what he does and made them into an effective weapon some 400-500 episodes later.

In any case, Fighter is at least as stupid as the other Light Warriors, with rare but amusing moments of intelligence just to keep us on our toes.

Fighter ate Paint Chips under power lines. It was stated in the comics, but I can't load the main site for some reason.

Never mind... I understand Black Mage completely now... His family was a bunch complete idiots, doing nothing but annoying stupid things... never learning from their mistakes...
Yes... I am getting this from my own life... I have had a very tired low tolerance level all day today and I have been trying to tell me brothers how stupid they are and being the whole time... but it seems they don't learn through advice or from their mistakes... leaving my only solution being to silence them perhaps... ... ... with the right motivation you can learn how understandable anyone is...

Fighter has unique ideas. Apparently he's had a love for swords even before attaining Vargus as his tutor. Vargus probably just got his mind to develop even more subtle and creative ideas -- like swordchucks. And remember that mysterious message on the door to mount Gurgu (or Gorgu, can't recall)? He translated every single word, apparently, understanding the complex vocabulary as well. Fighter's an example of "know one thing and none of others". Kind of like saying there's no such thing as intelligence to someone like him.

Black Mage? Well, it's a matter of questioning his whole being, what with his face being twisted into some insane shape that others have not achieved. We just know he murdered his siblings and tried to become his mother's favorite child. We could possibly conclude that he had a lust for power from the start.

Elves often think of themselves as superior and annoy the other races in this way. Thief, being their prince...is nowhere near an exception.

Red Mage? Well, we know nothing of him. Thief's messed with his mind and produced a rather confused memory where Red Mage thought his own father had wanted a daughter instead of a son. There is also talk of bending the rules of reality by assuming the same powers that the gods and/or "players" use to determine what fate befalls the individual.
