What Red Mage fails to realize, though, is that end-of-the-world cults are necessary. That there will be an end to all things is granted, inevitable. You need people to profess the fact that this will happen and it won't be pretty because people will stupidly think everything's hunky-dorey when it ain't. If the Cultists told King Steve that his kingdom was right upon the current location of Yog-Sothoth, or tell Garland that the Temple of Fiends is - as if this wasn't obvious - the home of Lord Chaos, they'd be laughed at.....but the warning would be there in case of the appearance of abomination.
