Gee-tar Hero 2

Because not enough of us here play it, we're going to talk about the sequel.

-It's gonna have a practice mode where you can slow down certain parts of songs to help you nail them.

-It's gonna have a co-op mode, where the first player is lead guitar and the second player is either ruth...ryth...second guitar or bass.

Confirmed songs so far:

Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine
Woman by Wolfmother
Stray Cat Strut by Stray Cats
Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas

Last Child by Aerosmith
Can't You Hear Me Knocking by The Rolling Stones

You Really Got Me by Van Halen
YYZ by Rush

Bonus Tracks:
One For The Road by The Breaking Wheel
Arterial Black by Drist

Start with the word-talkin'.

And, before anyone asks, no, there isn't any Zeppelin. :(

EDIT: Periodically editing up the list for confirmed songs. Also, a song called Mother is confirmed, but we don't know who it's by.

Roy_D_Mylote 09-12-2006 08:32 PM

Rush, huh?

All hail!

Death by Stabbing 09-12-2006 08:33 PM

"Can't you hear me knocking" was the only Stones song they could get? They should have gotten "Heartbreaker" or my favorite: Jumpin' Jack Flash (hell yeah!)
"Misrlou" is a good pick

Crazy on you and Jessica also very good picks (I saw the Allman brothers play last month!)

Message in a bottle could be fun

Surrender is a freakin' awsome song provided you don't get it stuck in your head for 3 days straight (like I did)

YYZ will be fun..Rush is good

By the way I know some people will be mad when I say this but...Zepplin is way overrated...Bonham and Page were/are very good...but Plant and Jones sucked ass

There I said it

I just can't stand Robert Plant's voice and John Paul Jones has no absolutly no skill as a bass player

One suggestion: "I'm so afraid" by Fleetwood Mac...now that has some sweet guitar and bass (and drums. hooray drums!)

They should have a drum set video game soon...I hope...

Comfortably Numb? While My Guitar Gently Weeps? Purple Haze? All Along the Watchtower?

Well, "You Really Got Me" and "Free Bird" are good signs. And out of the other songs, there are probably a few good ones I haven't heard yet. Before Guitar Hero I, I'd only heard I Love Rock and Roll, and now Ziggy Stardust, Killer Queen, Iron Man, More Than A Feeling, Fat Lip, etc. are some of my favorite songs.

Death by Stabbing 09-12-2006 11:26 PM

Oh man I loved playing More than a Feeling on GH! that was so much fun...especially with the wammy bar!...Oh and they should have Rock and Roll all Nite on there..and Purple Haze should be...All Along the Watchtower...maybe...and While My Guitar Gently Weeps yeah that's another good one...I can think of better Floyd songs...Yeah I didn't notice Freebird before...that's going to be fun

Not every song is announced yet. Most people think the big bands that a lot of people want (i.e., your Metallicas, your AC/DCs, your Pink Floyds, etc.) will be announced near the launch date (Which is Nov. 7-I don't know if I mentioned that). Although I heard a rumor that Metallica might not happen. Which would suck.

Also, they're not getting more than one song from any band/performer. So no I Wanna Rock & Roll, you get Strutter instead.

This game is going to be awesome beyond all belief, and not because of he sweet gameplay or cool features; if you pre-order the game off of RedOctane's website, you get a free GHII t-shirt! Is that jawsome or what?

I don't really know why, but I want to see Enter Sandman in the game. That, and the ability to play as the backup bassist from GHI (who's also in GHII, by the way).

Kinda sucks that Crazy Train or Iron Man aren't gonna be on the game, now I think about it...

Already in the first one.

A hacker somewhere got creative.

Chipper173 09-13-2006 05:22 PM

Don't like to double-post, but Last Child by Aerosmith and Hangar 18 by Megadeth just got confirmed.

Chipper: Edit button. Use it next time.

Chipper173 09-13-2006 07:59 PM

Sorry! I'll keep that in mind.

Ah, so there's still hope? That's good.

And I heard that all the characters from the first one are back, so that's cool. I want to see the Classic Rocker guy again. He was my favorite. Looked almost like he steeped off the front of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Do you think they'll sell the game without controllers for people who already have GH1?

They did for the first one, so I'm sure they'll do it for the second.

Still, you should get the one with the controller so you can play VS./Co-Op multi, since they're the main additions to the game.

Plus the sequel 's guitar is red and awesome-like:

Pretty much every character I can think of from the original has made a return (I've seen a character select screen with the Grim Ripper, so he'll be back too, I'm guessing). New characters include Dax Deville (rockabilly guy), Rocker Girl (Um...we don't know) and Lars Umlaut (Norwegean Death Metal). Clive, the classic rock guy you referred to, will also be back, but he looks totally different now.

You'll be able to buy the game without a guitar, but then you'd be missing out, like View said.

ElfLad 09-13-2006 11:27 PM

I already have two guitar controllers anyway, although the red one looks awesome.

gurusloth 09-14-2006 01:15 AM

I watched the video of that Crazy Train hack...just, wow. Insane-o difficult. It's too bad he could hack it so that you can hear it when the player makes a mistake, like in the actual game. Cuz that guy was making a ton of 'em. Still, cool hack.

Serasid 09-14-2006 12:26 PM

I can't wait for this game to come out... unfortunately my friend is the one that has the first one... and somehow managed to break the whammy bar on the guitar controller... But yeah, this is one of the games Im looking forward to.

Chipper173 09-29-2006 05:01 PM

So, guess what.

It's coming to 360. It'll have downloadable content. And a crazy new controller. It's not wireless, I've seen a video of it.

Also, Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas confirmed.

Mondt 09-29-2006 05:11 PM

My brother can play Laid to Rest by Lamb of God in his guitar already. Then again, he plays the speed As I Lay Dying...

I want to eventually play bass with him.

But if, for any reason, I have money and am able to get this, I'm definately gonna be rockin' out on Beast and the Harlot and Laid to Rest... Hard.
