Link the evil boss?
LOTS OF SPOILERS for WW
I forgot if i mentioned this in a thread a long time ago before the forums were held at 8-bit but since a lot of you werent around then and the numbers of the ones that were keeps falling I would like to share an idea i had a while ago when i was examining wind wakers story line. Since Ganon is now permanently dead-even if he does wake up he will not have a brain-Instead of doing something really gay to bring him back why don't we instead have it so that the Link that this new guy isn't related to in anyway "The hero of Time" re-appears. He is the hero of time after all i don't find it so imposible that he found a way to prevent aging. Or maybe when he came out of the Termina world he found himself in the water logged land. Point is, he's back, and he is pretty po'd and that all of his efforts to save the land of hyrule were in complete vain. Additionally he has found out that some other guy that dresses in green is being hurahed as the great hero. Even though Hyrule is still miles under the ocean. ((If you just got there as link that thought would be very fresh in your mind)) He also has a master sword since he was completely out of that dimension while this whole thing took place ((theoreticly at least)) and light arrows and the standard array of kick ass weapons. My take is that all this emotional turmoil drives him to want to slay the new hero and prove to him how worthless he is.((honestly, ganon was just cheateried out of winning, he practicly knocked you unconsious in a few disturbingly quick moves, oh whats that, king magicly appears between him and constructed triforce....oops)) And then you could ad some visual effects just for the heck of it. You know now that he is evil, the master sword and light arrows are black glowing instead of white glowing. Black tunic, ect. The only problem i have with this is that i'll have to beat him up. He would be so cool.......... |
No offence if you a big nintendo fan but:
WWs story was a joke, don't thinking too hard about it. The only plausible explanation for the story is that miyamoto has taken up sadism and is taking his pain out on gamers by destroying the best line of video games ever. I may just be cynical, but nintendos anouncement saying they would do all that kiddy crap and that good graphics, the internet, etc. were all fads convinced me that they have a corporate policy of sadism. That and the master quest, bleh. |
WW was the "Great Catastrophe" They talked about in LttP. WW was a great game. It had plot, great weapons, and fit into the story well. Now, not only do you have multiple Links and Zeldas, but also multiple Hyrules. That was just Gannondorf, BTW. Gannon tries to excape in, yes you may have guessed it, LttP. See OoT sets up the Sages, which makes no sense, they we're different races, and then they became people, WW sets up the great catastrophe. Oh, and there is only one master sword. OoT link put it back, it gets moved into th castle. Now, we need to know how they get it back from the flooded Hyrule. I'm a major LoZ junkie BTW. It is from my personal experience that I can tell you people who just blindly hate wind waker never played it and are just whinning about "What they did to link." It's only going to be one or two games people.

I always considered myself a big Zelda fan. I think Link's Adventure (Zelda 2) is still a great game, even though many Zelda fans refuse to acnoledge its existence. However, I've never believed that the Zelda games had a timeline of any sorts. Although there has been a lot of evidence to the contrary, there is also much showing that there is no storyline. Each Zelda game comes in pairs. These pairs do have many connections including time. If there was any continuing storyline, it would have to take place within many Links and Zeldas. With this thinking, you could connect Splinter Cell and Pokemon using the excuse that they took place millinia apart.
I too thought Wind Waker was an excellent game, better than Ocarina of Time in my opinion. The only thing I really had huge complaints about was Link's hair. It was the most unl33t thing ever. It was like a glob of banana pudding that moved with him. True the storyline wasn't the best in the series, even possibly lower than we expected. Still, it lived up to the action and had much more responsive play control than it's 3d predecessors (I oppoligize for all the spelling mistakes). Nuff ranting, I'm done. |
bah, too simple, but thats just my opinion
and it had a childish atmosphere, because of the cast, you know? it just got old quick |
I loved all the zelda games, including wind waker and zelda 2, but excluding the cd-i games. The only problem with WW was the water, was Link shrunk and get thrown into Lake Hylia or what?

I thought wind waker was awesome! Just because Nintendo decided to try something new doesn't mean it was bad. Change is a good thing, and personally I'm looking forward to the next Zelda game looking like this. And about the "kiddy" characters, I loved them, it was great because it didn't have to be serious, and there wasn't really some super-huge cataclysmic event to stop. I mean sure, there was ganon and all, but he's always there. Overall, I enjoyed the fact that the game had A)great graphics B)a bit of a lighter theme and C)some, if only a little, replay value.

Which seems more serious: the mainstream Mario series or the Zelda series? Personally, I think it's the Zelda series. That's why I wouldn't have a problem with Nintendo making the kiddy graphics for Mario, and why I do have a problem with them making it for Zelda. Why Zelda? The Zelda games were always so difficult and so dark, and they even put Link in Soul Caliber 2 (I would consider that a move to the mature spectrum)!
The WW graphics just turn me off AS A MATURE CONSUMER and fan. So I haven't played every Zelda game, but I've lost hope already. They made Metroid Prime a mature-looking game. It wasn't the best game ever, but the setting was right on. I would expect the same from Zelda. |
