About Black Mage and Red Mage respectively.

Red Mage first. For all his claims of incredible strength and ability...I've only ever seen him cast one spell. Two, if you consider that 'intro' effect a spell, which didn't really seem like one. And for all I know, haste could have been due to an item effect.

Maybe Red Mage really has no magical prowess what so ever. Maybe he's really just a crazy guy in a red hat that got turned into a mime.

And as for BM, well, I'm sure many of you already suspected this, but if their group really is the light warriors, and not the other people, what if BM isn't the fourth member, and WM is? I mean, they all tried to vote BM out of the team, and it could have been fate, but BM, being evil, tried to stop this.

Not to mention Darko the god of Dimness said he was created to counter Fighter. Hence why Bahamut's character class thing didn't work on him, because he wasn't one of the fated four.

Discuss?

Red Mage has been casting numberless cure spells. They`re just more subtle than a hadoken or bolt 3.

He also has Ice and/or Ice 9, and a Teleport spell, as well.

Sarda mentioned that there were only four, and that he couldn`t be bothered with their linear thinking, so all is up for grabs for that one.

RM has come through in times of extreme need, however points adjustment (lower impact flaws) may have made him less...stable than he really could have been. That, compounded by Thief`s messing with his head about Daddy issues and cross dressing tendancies has further destabalized him.
Of all of the lws, RM seems the most "self aware", further calling ridicule upon himself.

Black Mage is a nexxus, but there is nothing saying that the dark underling god actually unleashed him. Even if he had, there is no guarantee that this "fate" of which you speak didn`t draw him up from the ten thousand hells to do the unleashing.
Also, demons are known to lie from time to time. Exaggerate, minimalize, doesn`t matter. Surprisingly, BM seems to use truth more often than not.
He doesn`t appear to be a convincing liar, at any rate.

I propose that there is far more happening with any given character than the surface reveals. Comes to mind the teleport spell, which works on groups in theory, no matter if it is three or three hundred. As said, all up for grabs.


edit: Wow, Khael Almight! You HAVE been adding these things. You`re really busy these days, too. I`m so very, very impressed. One would think that you, too, are a Red Mage extrodinaire... o wait, you ARE. :D

Well, alright. I forgot about the Ice spell...but have you ever actually SEEN Red Mage cast any cure spells? I can't recall any.

As for your take on the demon thing, I think the simple "BM is evil and not a light warrior" explination is probably the correct one.

I too am of the opinion that RM is lacking in the cure spell department.

I mean, if BM hadn't cheated, he'd be out of the team and WM would be in. He's done almost as much to hinder the entire fight against Chaos then to assist it, he's stated several times he'd rather rule the world then save it, not to mention he was the lord of Hell for a period, and according to his own psyche, he has not a single decent or 'light' quality in his entire personality.

He's a Light Warrior....how? I mean, hell, Garland is more tilted towards the light side then BM. Maybe they should swap and BM could lead the Dark Warriors.

Of course then the dark warriors would actually be, well, dark, and they wouldn't be nearly as funny.

Basically, it did work, but someone still needed to unbind the nexus.

I also vaguely recall RM using a light spell way back at Matoya's cave.
