Heavy Metal: Sands Of Arrakis

The drop ship landed in the middle of the desert. The desert sands would be dificult for legged UCVs as it always was, It effectively halfed the mobility. After offloading the mechs the drop ship picked up and flew off. This was the location but there appeared to be nothing but sand.

(ooc: Raiden send me your mech list again and that of your opponents)

Dante 01-23-2004 09:46 AM

Wayward grimaced as he saw the sand.

"I must have been a bloody idiot to have signed up for this... this mission had better be worth it..."

Flarecobra 01-23-2004 10:02 AM

"Woha. Almost reminds me of home." Erika said, taking a look around.

Dante 01-23-2004 10:03 AM

"Oh yeah, where did you say you lived again?"

Flarecobra 01-23-2004 10:07 AM

"I lived about 50 miles south of the Grand Canyon. Lot of deserts around there." Erika said.

(OOC) Corrected.

ooc: Earth is a single government now. So that's like saying you're from the Rocky mountains. Everything that was once a country is now like a state in the new earth government.

The sand picked up. as a wind blew from the cloudless skies. Arrkis was a mostly desert planet save for some underground rivers, and a few oasisi. (ooc: also I should add in combat you will be starting at a heat index of one instead of zero for figuring redline. Your radiators still work like normal.)

Dante 01-23-2004 11:13 AM

OOC: Right.

"Hmm, earthborn, eh? I was raised in a colony. Can't say it was a big improvement... Everytime I go planetside, the gravity plays havoc with me."

Flarecobra 01-23-2004 01:15 PM

(OOC) I'll edit it then.

"Course with all this sand we'd better make sure to clean off the mechs and to have covers on over the ports so sand doesn't have as easy a time getting in while the mechs arn't in use." Erika said.

Samuel walked out with the paper in his hand.

"Apparently, we're supposed to meet with a representative. He'll show us to a hotel. We stay at the hotel for the night to rest up while they do a final check-up on our mechs and reload our weapons free of charge. Also, they'll be supplying us with a carrier. Nothing special, but if we run out of ammo or get damaged in the field, you head back to the carrier and they'll fix you up." Samuel watched as a tall man with glasses walked towards the group.

"Mr. Samuel. How nice to meet you. And this is your group? Good. Walk this way please. The transport vehicle is waiting." It turns out the transport vehicle was just a normal car. They got in, and after about an hour drive, they arrived at a pretty extravagant hotel. They got out.

"We have orders to check over your mechs. They'll be ready for you by tomorrow. Get some rest, you'll need it." And with that, the man drove away. Samuel yawned.

"I'm gonna hit the hay. Don't stay up too late, guys." The sun was starting to set.

Arrakis was a sparsly populated dessert planet. The capital citty of Arakeen was only the size of a large town. There were few industries willing to scratch out a living. The only real industry was the medical industry. A mineral found only in the vast desserts of Arrakis was of great interest to the medical industry who for the last few years since the discovery been researching it's properties. The locals just called it spice, since it smelled and tasted like cinnamon.
