Plane Crashes into New York Building.
Turn on the news. Watch it.
Plane hits new york NOt a terrorist attack yet. dunno unpdate. Single engine fixed wing aircraft 2 fatalities so far |
...
If it was a terrorist attack, it was a -very- stupid one. Maybe it was like that one down in Tampa (or was it Orlando), with the stupid kid killed himself? I mean, geeze, put some explosives in there or something. Have them spill out into the street. Either an accident (in NY? HAH!), or just another person who decided to commit suicide, and missed the ground. |
Latest update says that the plane was owned by New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle. They believe he may have been the one flying the plane when it crashed but as of now it is still unproven either way.

Damn, what an absolutely insane story.

So, that whole "NYC is much safer than 5 years ago" thing is complete bullshit now, huh? If a small plane carrying a pitcher for the Yankees can hit a high rise building, then what's stopping a jet from creating another 9/11? This crash has soo many political implications, that it's probably a gift from god to the democrats. I mean, who will vote for the republicans when they stated for years that they made NYC safer, due to no more attacks? Sure, this isn't terrorist related, but it's still fucking scary as all hell. What was the first thing that came to all of your minds when you first heard this story? That's right. Another 9/11. That was everyones response. Rest in Peace, Mr. Cory Lidle. May you forever fly with the angels... |
....
It's a bit different from having an accident, and slamming a small plane slam into a building, to having a jetliner be hijacked, and then slammed into a building. I'm not getting your connection here, man. And no, it wasn't my first response. But then again, I think we've gone over it again and again I'm hardly your average person. And it's not scary at all, geeze. No, you're just acting scared because you can, because you're told that you should be. |

And Ryanderman says what I should have been trying to say.
Damn. Oh well, Ryanderman, can I buy that post for five bucks? Anyways, as a... interesting sidenote, they verified that it was the Yankee's pitcher (no, I canneremeber his name) What does this mean for the Yanks? |

What it means for the Yanks is that not only did they get whomped on by the Tigers, but their next season is probably finished too.
Anyways, I don't think this means anything in regards to NYC's safety. Seriously, does the city need anti-aircraft weapons in the event of another mass terrorist attack? I can't imagine that Al Qaeda would try the same thing twice so soon. As a global terror ring, you think they'd be a bit more intelligent than that. All this boils down to is a tragedy that could've been prevented if the FAA had a longer flight hours requirement for the issuing of a pilot's license. From what I heard, the guy had been flying for less than a year. Maybe a bit more training should be required of our pilots? |
