My first RPG
A couple of days ago my mom took me to Half-Price books and I saw a copy of Balders Gate there for only seven dollars. So I bought it and started playing, and I realized that this game would take a lot more time and energy to enjoy than any other game I've played. And then I realized that this was also my first REAL rpg. I mean the kind with magic missles and +8 dragon slaying spells. So I was curious, what was your first RPG or game that got you into the genre?

Old School
I remember way back when, when I played my first RPG. It was Crystalis for the NES, god I loved that game. I remember playing for hours on end and having my parents tell me to go play "outside" whatever that is... Awe man... I'm all nostalgic now and I have the need to whip out my old NES (if i can still make it work without nearly killing it) and play it.

Beyond the Beyond for PSX. Man, back then I was like, 7-8. I had a babysitter who brought over games like Legacy of Kain:Blood Omen, Castlevania: SOTN.
But he brought over Beyond The Beyond. My god, I loved that game :D Just thinking about it makes me want to play it again... >_> |
The original Final Fantasy was my first RPG. I played it when I was around 7 or so, so I didn't have much of a clue what to do in it, but I still had fun.

Zork. A text-based computer RPG. Good times.

final fantasy on nes was mine
I also remember playing crystalis and dragon warrior on nes. |
Legend of Zelda was my first RPG, when I was 2-4. Somewhere in there.
My first Turn-based one was Earthbound...the greatest oddity ever... YOU SHALL FEAR THE EGO ORB! IT WILL EAT YOUR EGO FOR BREAKFAST! Oh..and by the way, you will be hit with a casey bat in 5...4...3...2...1.. |
Dragon Warrior. Yeah, I'm old school.

Yes, indeed. I was broken in on Atari, but then got the NES, then got Dragon Warrior, then Final Fantasy. Woo.
