Avatar RP IV, Discussion V: Insert Witty Title

Well, seems its time to start a new thread for y'all to dicuss in an' such.

Flarecobra 10-20-2006 11:56 AM

Well, here's a Title: "Why do I keep doing this?"

POS Industries 10-20-2006 11:55 PM

or even better: "Number Five Is Alive!"

Lumaes 10-21-2006 02:58 AM

Something that rhymes is not always witty!

POS Industries 10-21-2006 12:57 PM

I hate doing this. I really do. You have no idea how agonizing it is for me to have to dissect a joke and explain to someone how it works, especially one as simplistic as this. Anyway:

The line, "Number Five is Alive", is the tagline/catchphrase from the 1986 film "Short Circuit", in which a prototype military robot is stuck by lightning and suddenly becomes self-aware. The robot, designated Number 5 out of the series of prototypes, escapes from the facility at which he is being kept and begins exploring the Oregon countryside, all the while learning about the wonders and nuances of existance while the company that built him, Nova Robotics, hunts him down in the hopes of either repairing this "malfunction" or destroying him altogether. Eventually coming to understand the principles of life and death, Number 5 realizes that, for him, to be disassembled is relative to death and his quest shifts from aimless exploration to a race for survival. When confronted with the argument that he is merely a soulless machine, his response is, of course, an emphatic "Number Five is Alive."

The correlation between this line and the thread is nothing more than it being the fifth discussion thread coupled with the fact that I had the movie in my head for unknown reasons. While this doesn't make the concept any more witty, it does explain to you that it is, in fact, not merely something that rhymes.

The Artist Formerly Known as Hawk 10-21-2006 05:15 PM

Well I thought it was time for one of those "character building flashbacks", and what better way than in the tried and tested "Lost" format. I think "vvvvvvmmmmmmm" is as close as I can get to actually typing the sound that designates such a flashback, though it may contain some R's.:shifty:

I was goning to have Hawk actually partake in the battle, but it was getting kind of long and I don't really want to give away any of the ideas I've got for his forthcoming human form. And beside, when he DOES get his human form back, there's gona be plenty of killin'!!:)

Lumaes 10-21-2006 07:05 PM

Yes, and when they send three other robots after him he reprograms them as the three stooges, what's your point?

Also, I feel sorry for that poor horse in the flashback. I mean, what kind of cruel commander sends one horse to take down an enemy army?

POS Industries 10-21-2006 10:07 PM

My point is that they would ban me for flaming you, so I'm doing it in spirit.

Truce 10-22-2006 11:42 PM

I have returned.

Now who do I have to smack?
