Another Resident Evil RP Idea
I've had a few Resident Evil RPs in the past but I think I'll let the people decide what kind of settings they want. Though I'd like to see what kinds of monsters would want to be worked in. Anyone interested?

Only four monsters would be required;
1) Zombie humans (derr) 2) Zombie dogs (Because we all remember how scary they were when they first smashed through that window!) 3) Lickers (Because they ARE the best monsters in the games!) 4) Nemesis (Rocket launching, unstoppable Uber-zombie? HELL YES!!) |
STAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRSSSSS
sorry, unstoppable zombie moment. You need some red heads, maybe even zombie monkeys, and I kinda liked the zombie maggot things from zero. But remember the three most important things in a survival horror RP. Limited ammo/weapons, unfair odds, and PC deaths. Its just not scarey if you know you will make it even if your fighting zombie dogs with a freakin shoe. Oh and make sure you include the zombie regenerating thing. They are undead so unless you know what to do, they will keep coming back |
The regeneration thing only came if they weren't shot in the head.
I like the ideas for monsters but we need more people to express interest. Unlike the last RE RPs I wanted this one to have more odds against the players... maybe even a few people dying... |
Drain Deimos and Brain Suckers (RE3) didn't get to see a lot of action and Hunters, regardless of what kind are always cool. Also, big spiders, or big versions of some pathetic creature that also makes them violent and resilient to pain. Worms, slugs, ants, ticks, moths...whatever would freak a girl out, only big enough to make full grown males go batshit insane.
And if it's Resident Evil with outdoors areas, there's gotta be crows out and about to feast on the carrion. |
well if odds are high against us, and in all likelihood some or even all of us will die thenI will play. As I said, there is no point in survival horror if your more likely to live then die
|
Well... those are all great ideas. I'm just trying to figure out if we have enough people to start it up. I'm sorta stuck story and setting wise. I used a city last RP... an island before that... and I forgot what I had before that. To me, a city would be the most likely of places... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Then I'll see if I have enough data to start a sign-up.

Well classic locations for zombie invasions are obviously police stations, hospitals, sewers, some sort of large old public building like churches (what with their cemetries right outside), or one of those massive, maze-like libraries or city hall type places. And to travel between them are the most dangerous of all zombie infested areas.... the streets! (Conveniently barricaded off by blocked cars and half collapsed buildings of course)
Basically, if it's a resi game set in a city, then it needs to be like a fucking warzone! Places to avoid though (because it's stupid otherwise, unless you really ARE a suicidal nut!), are corpse liquification plants run by shady organisations (derr!) and zoos. The latter though may throw up some cool boss battles, but we would have to have a DAMN good reason for going through THERE! These are just some ideas but really it depends on where the story takes us. I'm assuming we would be escaping from a zombie city, so we would need a clear plan of where we would be needing to get to, and of course, half way through, the plan all goes to shit, so we end up having to revise our situation and find another route which invariably leeds us into even more shit! |
Rural areas like farms complete with obscuring corn fields, large barns, and orchards with two story houses coupled with rickety floors and shitty electricity have their own distinctive way of horrifying, but Resident Evil is usually served best when served in urban areas. I always thought of Resident Evil as not being about where the enemy is coming from and the many places in which an enemy could be hiding, but rather the sheer number and/or strength of what is inevitably going to make an appearance and try to tear you into bloody meat chunks.

I suggest a city within a valley (ahh home) because the river and mountains would give a good reason for the isolation without the aforementioned cliche of cars and collapsed buildings.
Besides realistically it doesn't make sence. Oh no this car is blocking my path...*climbs up and over said car* well that was easy. [edit] oh and make it during the day. Some might say it ruins the feel but it avoids a cliche. Besides true you can see the enemy coming, but that also means you can SEE THE ENEMY COMING. And when said enemy is a legion of undead, well in this case I think it might be scarier to know what is chasing you. |
