The Inuyasha anime is over, now go read the manga
In case you were wondering, yes, that WAS the last episode of Inuyasha (Episode 167). Because of a combination of low ratings, a major producer leaving the show, and the series catching up too close to the manga, the series was formally put on hiatus in Japan over a year ago. There has been NO word of renewel since then.
The manga however is still going on and is still going strong in popularity. THe anime ended at around the events of chapter 355, and the manga is currently at chapter 480, so those are the chapters you should read (although I suggest just reading the entire thing from the beginning, since the anime changed so much). MANY important events have occured, and several new characters have appeared, old characters have reappeared, and some...have died (another one seems to be about ready to bite the dust in the current story arc). Takahashi has said that she does plan on ending the manga soon, and recent events in the manga do support that it's coming to a conclusion. Unfortantely, because of the way Viz is releasing the english version of the manga (every four months), it WILL literally take years for the U.S. release to catch up to where the manga currently is in Japan. So finding other sources to read it may be you best option. You can read detailed SUMMARIES of the manga chapters as they come out here: http://www.furinkan.com/iycompanion/manga/index.html. Just let me remind you that the anime ends in at chapter 355, which is located in volume 36 of the manga. Thank you |
I dont know, my only problem with Inuyasha is its starting to drag. And by starting I meant it has been for a good 20 episodes. I think the series should be ended. I dont mean just cut off, but be given a proper ending with lots of yummy closure.
Oh and if anyone knows where I can snag the past few episodes. Or Bleach, trinity blood, really every anime on adult swim, please let me know. I haven't seen any episode in almost a month. I'm starting to get the shakes. |
Zheesh, 167 episodes? No wonder people got tired of it. Mangas are usually the main source, though, I usually prefer them. I certainly liked the FMA manga more than the anime. That's almost like apples and oranges though since they're completely different.

Inuyasha really dragged it self for a while on the later episodes of the anime... so yeah... is not even that big of a surprise...!
At least is not like the Gundam Wing Mangás... after seeing the anime, o bought them and really said... "The'hell... the animation was better!?" surprise surprise.... I mean... its not because Inuyasha (anime) was long... (Naruto is bigger, and Bleach is going to be too) but the story just drags it self way too much! |
Well, having a long series is one thing. Having a long series where nothing is accomplished after 167 episodes is another. Seriously, I stopped watching for two years and tuned in one day, and nothing had changed!
"Oh no, we have to get all the jewel shards back!" The hell you do! You can travel through fucking time! Take what you have now and get your schoolgirl ass back to the present. The world's still there, so clearly your actions have no consequence. Screw Naraku. |

...Typing that made me kinda puke in my mouth a little. *I'm assuming that's still an issue in Inuyasha? It's been a while since I've seen any. |
Takahashi's stuff has always been a good example of the differences between anime and manga.

Can anyone give a count on how many times Naraku has "died"?
|
Well, we could say that he died once when Onigumo became Naraku, then we could say he "died" that time Inuyasha fought him after gaining the ability to break barriers. Whether he "died" again near the end of the anime, I can't say, as I was unable to watch it on the Teevee and haven't the interest to go looking for it.
So, really, he hasn't at all (unless that adamant barrage killed him; again, I haven't seen Inuyasha since just before Inuyasha got that technique). He's just consolidated his power in ways that appeared to be death. I'm sure Darshe could give a better answer, though. |
