Final Fantasy XII 'Fifthfiend Bans Everybody' Thread!

This is it people! FFXII comes out tomorrow and somewhere Neko is crying tears of joy! This thread will be for everything FFXII related be it questions, answers or mockeries! But please lets try to avoid "OHHHHMMMMGEEE I g0000t 1t!!!111!!11eleven11!" posts for they are spammy. Remember Use spoiler tags!!! We dont want to ruin the game for anyone.

To kick the thread off Im going to tell you about the so called "limited" collectors edition. My local store got its shipment today and I looked at the numbers:

125 collectors edition (112 of which were pre-ordered)
18 normal editions (6 were pre-ordered)

It would seem the the "limited" edition isnt very limited at all.

Heres a funny little thing the store's manager told me when he went to the EBStop sales conference:

Someone had asked the square rep in the Q and A section why there was hardly any advertising for FFXII he says and I quote: "Our games sell themselves, we dont really need to advertise it much". Wow confident aint he?

And anyone wanting to save a few dollars can head on to Circuit City tomorrow and take advantage of their one day only sale and get FFXII (normal ed) for $37.50.

Of course its limited! Limited to the number of copies that they can sell...

[cannedlaughs]Thank you![/cannedlaughs]

On a quick note, i've been reading some reviews... and its seens to be the first final fantasy since 6/7 with a actually GOOD story behind it...

It's like Blizzard saying, "Well, we could advertise for Burning Crusade...but it'd be kind of pointless, wouldn't it?"

Confident, yes. Wrong, oh no.

Square has Final Fantasy competing with Mario and Zelda for "Most popular franchise." That's some pretty big shoes to fill.

Managed to get ahold of a copy of FFXII a few hours before official launch in a process that involved lots of flattery and self-esteem stomping. Mostly stomping. After having played through what could be called the prologue, I have lots of things to say about FFXII, mainly I want fucking Vagrant Story 2.

Yasumi Matsuno is fairly set in his ways when it comes to telling a story, and giving him a proper Final Fantasy of his own to play with probably looks like an odd choice at first glance. Not for him is the "group of college kids save the world from an evil witch" style of narrative: he prefers to simultaneously delve into both the virtuous and the insidious parts of the human condition while adding a bunch of corpses into the bargain. I am now convinced that if he had scripted FFVIII each of the college kids in question would have had their own selfish motives for the witch-dispatching, at least half of them would end up with a knife in their back at the hands of the other half, and Edea would have burned at the stake before the opening credits had even got halfway through. The first act has not even finished and you are already thrusted into a whirlpool of backstabbery and old references to fans that surely please the careful eye. With three assasinations in the first hour, two of them by plunging a knife into a comrade's back, you know you are ready for a thrilling ride.

I'm just starting the game properly and I wonder if any of the following scenes include pulling an arrow out of your chest, ripping the entire skin of someone's back so all that is left is flesh, or banging a heretic's head against brick. Now that's classic Matsuno.

But I still fucking want Vagrant Story 2.

My opinions on the intro have just been answered on my previous post. Voice acting is really awesome, with my favorite characters so far being Basch and Lord Rassler, particularly the latter. I would have never guessed such a manly voice could come from a body like that.

I was wandering if the game IS set in the world of FFT or if they really just used the name...

I saw pics with Montblanc (The Moogle from FFTA) in it so I would assume so....

If you do, don't forget people who use the term "kwaii" and "Bishie" in normal conversations.

You did promise me that, after all.
