Console Campouts: It's That Time Again...
 

So with the PS3 and Wii coming out in a couple weeks, it's time to plan the campout. I've done campouts before, but this year's will be my most ambitious yet.

My friends and I are planning a mammoth Wii weekend.

We're still in high school, so we need to wait until school gets out on Friday, around 3:00. We'll already have camping gear in one of our cars. We drive out to Best Buy and claim our spot. Then we just need to wait 36 hours, with one of us occasionally making food runs. We sleep on the sidewalk in sleeping bags (we'll see about setting up a tent, but it's hard to put stakes in concrete). No showering, of course. We get our Wiis Saturday night, and from there, we go straight to our other friend's house for his Wii launch party.

So, once again. Caping out for 36 hours, go a night without sleep, and then attend a Wii party. In one weekend.

I'll be bringing a camera to document the nonsense. Afterwards, I will edit the footage collected to make a documentary about total fucking video game nerds.

Why?

Because I'm waiting for a month before adopting, because I'm either not a raving lunatic, a total genius, or both.

I didn't do it for Halo 2, and I won't do it for a Wii.

I'll just wait till, like, January, and buy one out of the store.

The way i see it, only the dorkiest of dorks and the nerdinest of nerds actually do that.

I agree with all the above statemants. Seriously, what is the point of waiting right outside of a shop, just to get a console or game before all the fanboys who have no lives do?! I'm having to wait till March till the PS3 comes out here, but even then I'm still going to wait a while anyway. I see no rush and still have games to play in the meantime. By the time I'm done with FFXII and GoW2 PS3 will be readily available, the games I want to play will actually be out and most likely the price will be down.

To get it first. Then we can go on the internet and brag that we have one.

I plan to pick up a Wii on my way back to the apartment after my weekend of work, but I respect your enthusiasm.

And if I can't get one, I guess I'll curse you and your camping brethren and buy a hat.

I almost always wait until the rush dies down to get new games/consoles/etc., though that's often a necessity due to insufficient funds. Plus, the longer I wait, the greater the chance that the price will drop, which is always a plus.

(Side note: Totally did a double-take when he said "mammoth" <.<; )

I plan on driving to Best Buy with a baseball bat, finding the dorkiest kid with a Wii/PS3 in the parking lot, beating him up, and stealing it. They'll probably be sleep-deprived, which is a plus. But, they'll be greasy, making them tough to grab and hit.

I think these people will be needing an armed escort to safely get the goods home...
