National Novel Writing Month

NaNoWriMo!

Who's participating? I know I'm always too critical of my own writing to ever take it anywhere, but this is certainly motivation to forge ahead.

I participated for about 3-4 days, but then I got sidetracked by homework and other interests so... I stopped. I made it to over 4000 words though, so that's exciting.

I'm always tempted to try, but I think it would drive me crazy. I definitely favor quality over quantity, and I probably wouldn't be able to repress the urge to go back and tweak.

Still, it's a pretty cool idea.

Aw, that's a shame. Come on! Nudge yourself! Nudge, damn you! I'm guilty of it too, though. I promise myself I'll get on it tomorrow, though!

Here's an excerpt from mine. The intro, in fact:

But in reality, there was order within this entropic blaze: like a morbid autostereogram, from a sufficient distance, one could almost make out a faint smile.

Truly, it was a masterpiece, a sonata—the notes just happened to be corpses.

Six corpses, to be exact. Six bodies, six lives, six funerals, six obituaries. Six people who, two weeks ago, had never crossed paths—yet true to nature’s sardonic temperament, they burn together, in chorus.

We’re not concerned with how blackened they are, right now. Medium-well, rare; it’s trivial at this point. What is far more interesting is the inexplicable chain of events that served as a catalyst to this spectacle.

Clink.

I'm doing it. I've got 45 thousand words at the moment. I did it last year too, but the poor thing was too unweildy to take anywhere or do anything with.

This year, though, I've got a linear plot and zombies. You can't go wrong with those two. Ever.

*Glances to his two finished novels*

...So, when's National Novel Publishing Month?

Because, I am totally down for that.

mammothtank 11-25-2006 10:00 AM

I would totally write a novel if I had the attention span. The sad thing is, I can't even stick to an NPF comic series - last time I tried, I gave up after two or three comics. :sweatdrop

Muffin Mage 11-25-2006 04:11 PM

I finished at quarter to seven this morning because I am X-TREEM TO THE MAX, YO!

Premmy 11-25-2006 05:27 PM

sadly I made the poor decision of trusting my own actions. I thought I had it saved via e-mail. now it's unfinished, and sitting in Savannah on my computer.

I just noticed this topic, although it's kind of late to get started this month. maybe next year. I'm kind of with Mirai on this one, though, when's national publishing month going to be?

And Locke, sounds really interesting so far, where's the rest?
