So, yeah.

I think this might make up for X-3, even.

No it won't.

...

goddammit Mirai, you made me want to see it.

Seriously, what's the deal with everyone hatin' on X3? I liked it.

But yeah, Spider-Man trailer=good.

Mirai Gen 11-10-2006 08:57 PM

What's wrong with X3? Well, think about the movie.

Okay?

Then think about the movie if they had done The Cure OR the Phoenix, instead of both. Think about why they killed Cyclops. Ask yourself exactly why it was they did so much in the movie. It makes sense looking back. I liked X3 right after I came out of the theatres; Then people brought up their ideas for it, and I suddenly came to a realization.

That movie fucking NEEDED Brian Singer.

Anyway.

What I like the most about the trailer for SM3 is that it's mostly going to be Sandman, the Venom suit, and Green Goblin ala Harry vs Spider Man, all independently. There's no 'Let's work together, villains!' that plagued so much of Batman and X-Men.

Kerensky287 11-11-2006 12:02 AM

I liked X3, and nobody's going to change my opinion.

But... I like Spiderman more. I'm a diehard fan of Spiderman, except that I don't read any of the comics. But the movies, the games... heck, I even watched BOTH cartoon series'.

Let's just say, I'll probably be waiting outside the theatre on May 3rd.

And I still wish they had footage of Venom. He's awesome.

...But....but...I hate Toby Maguire!

Why!? Why, Sony!? WHYYYYYYYYY!?

Why can't they leave my money alone?

Solid Snake 11-11-2006 12:59 AM

So the guy who's Sandman in the third movie is apparently the same guy who killed Uncle Ben in the first movie?
...heh. Wasn't the guy who killed Uncle Ben in the first movie that robber who Peter Parker refused to stop?

Meister 11-11-2006 02:49 AM

Maguire's whispering can't-take-it-much-longer voice is getting on my nerves something fierce. Terribly overdone.

Other than that it looks okay. The Venom special effects exactly match my vision of it. I'll probably end up seeing it at some point, but I certainly won't lose any sleep if I don't get around to it right in the first week. I might even hold out for the DVD.

That's one of the few things that kind of worries me about this movie.

Okay, like, I get that it's supposed to fuel his rage when he gets the Venom suit and goes all Dark Side, being evil when up until now he's been nothing but Good Guy Spider Man. It's going to resolve in a (sounding very cool) rendition of another character development arc for Peter, where he needs to realize that he can't do everything himself, even when he is a fucking super hero. I'm a huge fan of character development in anything, and this is playing a tune I like already.

But, I don't like the fact that they've, well, practically retconned the first heroic thing he does in the movie's continuity.

It's like they're trading a very pivotal point of Peter Parker's character development for another pivotal point of it, and honestly I don't know what to think.

Once they introduce that, I'll probably forget it, but still.

Also: Sandman looks terrific. Just how I imagined he would act.

Aerozord 11-11-2006 07:59 AM

ok things I like.

Once I saw it, I am glad they started with suit instead of going straight to Venom. True I have to wait, but it will make Venom's appearance so much better later on. In fact its making me hope they wait on Carnage a movie or two after Venom. Now my Marvel knowledge is abit lacking, but isn't the bell tower where he loses the suit and finds its weakness? So yay for continuity.

Special effects look great, I dont think its possible to do better. I wasn't sure they could pull off Sandman without it looking fake, but its very well done. And the symbiot is actually better then I expected.

What I didn't

Things seemed rushed with the whole MJ thing, and I agree with the Sandman killed Ben thing. Though it wouldn't suprise me if it was some odd error. Didn't Spidey kill the guy he thought did it? If he really didn't kill Ben then Parker did a very bad thing. Namely killing someone that just commited robbery.

Things also seem too jam packed. Three villians in one movie seems way too much (I count the symbiot as one). Two would be hard, but now we are talking about three different story lines intersecting in one movie. Its possible to do it well, but very unlikely. I love how although the movies are stand alone, they are part of a single continuity. I just worry they risk shattering that.

Neutral
I wonder how they will do the symbiot. Its very clear spidey is all around better. But one of the big things was its ability to change shape and color so instead of him changing his clothes the suit just did it. Though it looks like they will make it so he just takes it on and off. If they do that I hope they atleast allow Eddy to do that. It was one of the things I loved about Venom. In an instant he was suited up and reffering to himself in the third person.
