S'right, As observed in the therapy thread, I asked the g/f (the avvy chica) to marry me, she politely declined, (j/k) She totally said yes, which if you all know me, is insane, so look out for my kids, they will be terrorizing a neighborhood near you in 15-20. I need help making me a ring. All of you crafty forumers out there ought to help me, for no other reason but that I love y'all. Thanks in advance. POST YOU DESIGNS, insights, abject terror that a woman agreed to be my wife, etc.
So here are some of the gems I am using, they are all rough, but I am sticking with green/blue/purple. The Center piece, Amethyst+cobalt, =awesome color changing blue to purple. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...w/IMG_6615.jpg form here on, this is where I need your help, the other stones. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...w/IMG_6613.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...w/IMG_6612.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...w/IMG_6611.jpg |

sorry about this, is there no way to do more than 4 per post.
If a mod wants to parse these into one or two posts please do. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...w/IMG_6605.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...w/IMG_6604.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...w/IMG_6603.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...w/IMG_6602.jpg |
Last one, promise.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...w/IMG_6598.jpg Here are a few that I tried to cut, this is my skill level now, I definitely need practice.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...w/IMG_6597.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...IMG_6596-1.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...w/IMG_6594.jpg |
Those are gorgeous (I have a rock collection as well but none are as beautiful as those). In my opinion (color wise), If you're definately using that blue one, I would choose the others to be lighter than the center rock, such as some of those really light blue ones (especially the one in the third picture you posted, or some of the later ones you posted (especially the one on the right in the 10th picture) Although I'm not an expert on rocks and such, I think those would look nice together.
And I think it was advised on the other thread but I would most likely go with Silver (given, I've always been a fan of silver). I think the silver would do a good job of accentuating the color in the stones. And, personally, I would go with small rather than big. I don't really get why girls like to have a huge ring on their finger, so I like smaller stuff, but that's just me. (In my opinion I would rather have this on my finger rather than something like this. But I think it all comes down to personal taste (your fiance might like bigger rings) Also, I'm not sure if this is possible or not, (just an idea) but in the rings my brother got his wife, the Engagement ring and the wedding ring were made to be together (Such as, the engagement ring kind of stood alone, but then, when you put the wedding ring on, the two kind of snapped together to make one complete (and very lovely) ring.) I would post pictures if I had them, but I don't, but I just think that concept is very cool if you could somehow do it too (depending on how much of the ring you're doing yourself, I guess. heh) And I would also like to say congratulations and I think it's awesome that you are making the ring for your fiance. She'll absolutely love it. |
First off, congratulations.
Edit: Forget what used to be here...instead, I gotta ask, are you going to make both an engagement ring and a wedding ring? |
Sorry, SpacePope, the four pictures per post limit is burned into the very code of the forums itself! You could change the last few into text links.
Now, as for making a ring, you've come to the right person! What you do is, you pick a stone, okay, and then you attach a little metal loop to it. Take care not to make that loop to small or too big in diameter - your best bet is to make it so it fits on a finger comfortably. Presto, you're all set. I fully deserve any upcoming smackings. Oh, and congratulations, too! |

I'm still waiting for it to be resized. Congratulations, SpacePope! I'm happy for you! |

Pfft, Spacepope came to the right place. Whenever you sign up for NPF, you have to go through a jewelcraft tutorial that Spacepope so irresponsibly slept through.
But, yes, congratulations and somesuch. |
