Let's Get back on track

Is it just me, or is anyone getting tired of being at Vilbert's house? I think the jokes in the past few comics were good, but I think that the overall quality of the comic was higher when the setting was actually based on what happened in Final Fantasy. I was looking through the archives and I found myself enjoying the comics with random encounters and stuff like that more entertaining. Does anyone else share my views, and when do you think we'll get back in a forest, or swamp or something?

I thought the first random encounter comic was dumb, but the giant one was hilarious. At first I was a little skeptical of Vilbert but he grew on me. I don't know how much better you can get than the first quest against Garland. The elfland and dwarf kingdoms were pretty funny. I guess it is all a matter of opinion really. Brian does what he finds funny and we just have to go with it until it meshes with our perception of comedy. Psychology is deep man, and really only understood by us Psycopaths.

It doesn't stay the same, it isn't very predictable, and it's never boring, and that's all you need in a media meant to entertain. Also, a lot of people haven't played any Final Fantasy let alone the original, and yet they still love the comic. So, they aren't losing anything.

Brian is able to connect with many people with his comic instead of just gamers, which is the main reason (I believe) he has done so well.

Of course, then again I might be wrong and it's just BM and his hadoken. Still, it sounds good.

The Pie Liking guy is right We need to get back to whats important!!comis that are mostly jibberish and comedy and don't even futher the plot!!!

I agree that the Final Fantasy based parts are the best; the more "loyal" it is to the game, in terms of parodying things from the game, the better the comic tends to be.

Vilbert is pretty neat. I think we can see some more humor from his mom and Larry T. Lich too. (even if Larry isn't a lich) The past few comics have been very entertaining in fact. I have nothing but praise for them.

I have no problem with Vilbert, his mom, and Larry. I actually like them a lot. I just don't like the setting.

I've never approached 8BT like it was a parody of FF1 specifically, so much as a parody of the generic high fantasy genre in general--be that in the form of television, film, comics, games, books, whatever. I use the plot of FF1 as a sort of guideline to let me hop from topic to topic and make fun of whatever is at hand.

But, just as a heads up, the comic is heading toward one of those points where it's very close to FF1. It should happen fairly soon too.
