best music in a video game
 

I was just wondering what everyone thought was the best music to find in a video game?

Personally I love the music in Tetrisphere for the N64. The songs were in all honesty the best part of that game.

Does anyone know where u can get some of the songs from that game... i know Nintendo never released a CD with em... but does anyone have mp3s??

Aside from that I'd also have to add the Megaman series as having great music, especially for the 8-bit nintendo games.

Soul Calibur also has some nice music in there too...

Ah, lessee... Parasite Eve had excellent music. 1, not 2 - 2's music was craptastic.

I'd say Gitaroo Man, but I don't think music-based video games count in this.
I'll go oldschool and say Ecco 2: Tides of Time for the ol' Genesis.

pretty much all of the Mega Man 2 songs were clasics. i had a friend record them directly from a Nintendo once, and then he made a big MM2 Techno remix. i still kick myself for losing that cd.

Metroid Prime had some excelent music in it, especialy the Magmoor and Space Pirate themes, and especialy the Meta Ridley battle theme.

FF6. best music in that series, plus it's the first VG soundtrack I've ever had a copy of, so it's also a personal thing.

I agree with flarecobra- FF6's music is great.

But I really like the opening music from Chrono Cross. That's probably my favorite video game song of all time. ^^

Grim Fandango! ... I know, I name this game every time, but... what can ya do?

Other than that, I like the soundtracks of Parodius (all of 'em), FF6 and 7 of course, and GTA 3 and Vice City. And the song that plays during the credits in Front Mission is just awesome.

Halo had good music too.

All of Nobuo Uematsu's work is great (he's the guy that composes almost all of the FF stuff) but I've really been stuck on Chrono Trigger music since I got the soundtrack back on October. Also I really like the Kirby music. I wish they would release a soundtrack for Super Smash Bros. Melee. I was so surprised when I heard the Zelda 2 dungeon theme in there. I mean it took every breakthrough song from all of the games and stuck them in the Smash Bros. perfectly. I could go on but I won't.
