Your Favourite Arcade Games

You remember those things, right? Those machines you put money in to play a game?

I do. Although I wasn't very good at them but they were still fun to play. Here are some that I liked...

The Simpsons- Even though the game play was exactly like the second TMNT game for the NES, it was still cool to beat up bad guys as Homer. Hard to believe the game is almost as old as the series!

Captain America And The Avengers- An arcade game where Marvel characters fought bad guys instead of each other!? It happened!

Silent Scope- This game was good practise for my fantasy career as an assassin! The scope thingy on the rifle was ultra-cool.

Evil Night (at least I think that's what it was called...)- I liked this shooting game for one reason... one of the guns you could use was a PUMP-ACTION SHOTGUN!!!

What were your favourites?

House of the Dead, Operation War on Terror, Buck Hunter, Tekken and of course Gauntlet.

ah good times, where you begged for £1 off your mum for a 30 second game.

House Of The Dead 1 & 2- two of my favorite light gun games ever, and pretty hard for a eight year old hyped on sugar. remember kids! lots of sugar is very bad for accuracy!

Sega Rally- Again hard for an eight year old on sugar with no driving experience apart throwing around a plastic wheel but great for when you complete a stage in record time.

Marvel Vs Capcom 2 -Spiderman and the incredible hulk vs Ryu and Chun Li? Super moves that look like a firework supernova on the screen? count me in.

Star Wars Trilogy Arcade- Lightsaber dueling with darth vader.

just a few of my personal favorites

The simpsons was a really good one, I would play it for hours, but My favorite would have to be the marvel vs Capcon arcade game.

VIRTUAL ON. Seriously I loved that game. Time Crisis 2 as well. And Mazan was pretty cool.

Dance Dance Revolution. And that drum game - I think it's called Percussion Freaks. Soul Calibur II (I still go to the arcade and play this sometimes, despite owning it for my PS2 - Conquest mode rules). Corny as it is, I like motorcycle games with the fake motorcycles that you lean back and forth on. I don't know why. Old school favorites include The Simpsons (like pretty much everyone else) and the old X-Men game. Especially the really huge one where you could have 8 players - that shit ruled my world when I was young.

Virtual On, DDR, Para Para, Cruisn' USA, San Francisco RUSH, Marvel Vs Capcom, and Guilty Gear.

There was also an X-men game I remember playing. I just liked playing Colossus, because he had a super move that made him yell really loudly. I wish I could remember the name.

"HRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH HHHH!"

EDIT: Oh, and X-Men: Children of the Atom. Omega Red owns you.

I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same X-Men game. I think it was just called X-Men.

And actually, Colossus yelling is my favorite memory of that game too.

I third Virtual On, pretty much any fighting game but mostly street fighter 2 and Marvel VS Capcom 2. And of course of my personal favorites... the Metal Slug series....damn I want that anthology.... Ms. Pacman deserves a mention.

On a related note... my local arcade closed down!:(
