Invis + Xfer? Somehow I doubt Ecurt is going to let that trick work...
That was an awesome trick back in the FFVI days though. Not quite as cool as using phoenix downs on undead bosses, but cool. Edit: Although I wonder how Dante would overpower the fields. Magic can't exist within them, basically... and he draws on energy from external sources... so how would he draw energy to himself, if it couldn't penetrate the field to get to him? |
IHMN got it, that was such a great trick, it even worked on bosses! Course, made the game somewhat too easy, but I didn't complain.
And I too am confused about how magic can overwhelm a field where NO MAGIC EXISTS. Seriously, I'm baffled by the logic there. Of course, I've been baffled by RP logic before, but this one is right on the boarder of most confusing ever. EDIT: IHMN deleated it, but the trick wasn't Invis + Xfer, which I didn't think you could even get outside of the special Magitek Terra has at the start... |
x-zone then... xfer was just x-zone for magitek. I got the name wrong... don't know if that's the trick anyway, though.

Yar, Vanish + X-Zone would wipe out any enemy in the game. My plan wasn't to Vanish someone and then use X-Zone, but it invovled half of that duo, since X-Zone was one of the coolest spells ever.

Indeed, I normally chose Locke because he was the fastest of the group. FFVI could kick any other FF's asses with that combo. Except maybe FFT. It'll be a tie between them.
Actually, magic does exist. The field itself is magic, and all Dante has to do is manipulate it's energies. Or he could pull out an ultima outside the field. |
But the Ultima would vanish at the edge of the field. The field is really just hundreds of consecutive reflect spells, so that no matter how deep you go, the spell is negeated by the massive anti-magic energies around it. AND along with reflect, it is shell, so any magic is already weakened inside the field. Basically anything that might penetrate one Reflect not only has to go throuhg dozens of other reflects, but the deeper it gets, the weake the spell is. It basically is designed to weaken and repel all magical influences brought against it, and any attempts to manipulate it would would also be weakened.

Mix it with protect, then physical attacks would be like little kids with sticks (Weak NPC kids, not FF main character kids)
|
But why would we want to make physical attacks weak when we want to fight Dante?
|
Just saying...
|
The flaw there is, the Magiteks main weapons when the fields are up are physical attacks. So magiteks only attacks would be weakened as well. The Anti-Magic Fields work so well because the Magiteks have an arsenal to use when there isn't magic, and most people can't stand up to the power of a Magitek if they don't have magic. Punches would be less effective at close range, so the Magiteks onyl effective weapons left woul be Lasers (Don't know where they fit, it's not magic and it's not physical...) and Tek Missiles (They would be ineffective in the field, but would be as effective as usual out of it.)
Also, I sort of set an unwritten rule of no more than two magics running at once in a field or the required "Bad Things" happen, since otherwise every N'Revat soldier just needs a Curaga, Protect, Reflect, Haste, Shell field and they are nearly indestructable. |
