Super Bowl, Who do you see?

Well folks, it's almost that time again. Where two teams suit up for the last game of a football season, and this time we are graced with seeing the New England Patriots go up against the Carolina Panthers. Who do you see? New England's defense punishing the Cats, or will the Panthers claw their way into a super bowl victory?

I'm going to have to go with the Pats on this one. Even if the power running game is considered the weakness of the Pats D, running never produces many points. On the other hand, the Pats offence I think will be able to dink and dunk the ball to its recievers quickly, negating any pass rush by the panthers d-line. So I say that the Pats win in a low scoring game, 17-9.

I hate the Patriots, and I hope they get beat, but I don't think they will. Of course, I didn't think Carolina had a chance against the Rams or Eagles either.

Carolina = defense.
New England = offense.
And, as we all know, defense wins championships.

I'd have to go with the panthers cause i'm pretty sure that the patriots lost last year unless i got the teams that went last year screwed up.

Motorbreath7 01-30-2004 01:10 AM

ok, wow. The Patriots werent there last year, that was the Oakland Raiders getting embarrassed by the Tampa Bay Bucs. The last time the Pats were there they beat the Rams.

Anywho, the running game is key. If you can establish the running game early on it keeps the defense honest and allows you to open up the passing game. So my pick is the Panthers ONLY if they can get pressure on Tom Brady and break up their annoying short pass game, as well as establish a solid running attack and get some key completions downfield. If they dont do that, then the Pats have it easy, and i hate the Pats.

as i am from philadelphia i want the panthers to win. why you ask? because i dont want our team to get beaten by losers.

I'm rooting for the Panthers. As a poor white southerner, it is my duty to become enraged and furious at the mention of New Englanders and their strange ways. The Panthers shall overcome the Patriots' defense and get a shiny new ring.

There is no chance in hell Carolina stands a chance. Anyone who watched both the NFC and AFC championship games should be able to see that clearly.

Wow... this is kind of one sided isn't it? Anyway...

Are you kidding? You are right that defense wins, but the Pats have the better D. You haven't been watching the NE Pats have you? They have the best defense of the league, period. They were able to stop the Colts offense, the apparent best in the league, twice, one of them on a six chance (I think) goal line stand. Ty law is going to shut down the wide recievers, and the front line will get in on the panthers QB, end of game.

Final score...

Pats: 10
Panthers: 6

I agree. Both teams have great defenses. I read in the paper today that some of the league's top quarterbacks(including McNair and Manning) had their worst rating of the year against New England. A lot of people think the game will be boring because it will be defensively oriented, but I'd rather see a good defensive stand instead of one long play on offense.

I still don't like the Patriots because of the Super Bowl in '01. I think it was rigged.

The Mirror Emperor 01-30-2004 08:01 PM

I say Patriots. They won last time. I don't see a reason they could win again. But then again, the Rams lost because of the Madden curse: One of their best players was a guy who got his picture posted on Madden 2003. Sometime later, he broke something: an arm, a leg, I don't know. Maybe the Panthers could win.

Lost in Time 01-30-2004 08:07 PM

Well if you look at the stats, I think Patriots will win, but I hope not, were rooting for Panthers, because are lousy excuse for a team didn't even make it to the playoffs. Damn Viqueens.

The Mirror Emperor 01-30-2004 08:20 PM

I checked, checked, then rechecked those stats again. Yes, I realize the Patriots won the Super Bowl last time. But everyone in my school and me say that Panthers will beat the crap out of the Patriots.

P.S: What's a Viqueen?

Lost in Time 01-30-2004 08:33 PM

Viqueen = Vikings or states team.
