Hitman as a movie
As you may or may not know, the hitman games (starring the shiny-headed assasin agent 47) are being made into a film. Being a film made from a game, i don't have a good feeling about good its going to be, given the trend of other game movies most probably absolute crap.
The film was originally going to star vin diesel as agent 47, but for whose most some reason the lead role is now going to be Tim Olyphant. Skip Woods, who wrote the script for swordfish ,is the screenwriter. The problem i have with this film is that a leaked script suggested the film is going to be a no thought shoot-em-up, which in the world of hitman, is so very wrong it defies words and all types of logic. Hitman is pulling off the perfect hit, killing your target without no-one knowing you were even there. Bulldozing in and shooting anything that moves is going to have 30 guards runto your position and fill you full of lead. The only another thing is that there is no offical director yet, so the film could still be saved. what does everyone think? will it turn out to be a good film or is hollywood raping the videogaming world once again? |
Tim Olyphant? Never heard of him. And yes, it will suck. That's almost a given.

It's going to suck.
I mean, first off its a movie based on a video game, which seem to suck based only on this merit. Second off, its based on a game that's all about disguise, subtlety, not being seen, not causing explosions, not getting into gunfights, not killing non-targets, and having perfect timing. Not only that, but it a game that allows for multiple (non-perfect) ways to complete a mission. In other words a movie that was a perfect adoptation of the game would be about a bald man going around and sticking 2 or 3 people with a hypodermic needle, taking their clothes then killing the target in a variety of ways, rinse and repeat. The most tense moment in the movie would be when a guard lingers over him for an extra half-second. A far as you could get from faithful adaptation, would feature huge gunfights a la the matrix where the protagonist uses the trademark "dual ballers", kung fu, and whatever guns his enemies drop to slaughter a horde of enemies, after getting caught strangling one person with the wire. Since the main protagonists is bald and wears a suit, imagine The Transporter with a different plot line, and a barcode on his neck for almost a picture-perfect visualization of this ideal. |
The only reason everyone thinks The Transporter is because the guy's bald.
Reguardless, Chipp Zanuff was right - being a ninja and a professional assassin has nothing to do with subtelty or invisibility. |
Haha, as soon as I saw this I thought of Jason Statham as well! On a side note I like the first The Transporter, but the second one was of course silly.
But yeah, Hitman is the complete opposite of a shoot 'em up, or so the demo of Hitman 2 I played one time has taught me. Best demo from ten years ago I've played in a long time. So who's directing this mess? Ewe Boll? I know Paul Verhoven is currently busy raping Castlevania so it can't be him. The only other director that comes to mind is whatever guy who raped Doom. |
dont know about hitman as a movie...but i cant wait for halo the movie :)

Wow. That's a terrible leaked script you have there.
especially since the leaked script I have on my computer right now shows nothing of the sort. There ARE shoot-em-up scenes. But there's a lot of quiet stealth in the movie. It's a trade off. Either you get exactly what you want, and the film bombs in box office because many people don't like the 'sneaking about quietly' type movie, or you sacrifice some of it for a few gunfights, and jumping from a Car off a bridge onto a sea-doo to take out another target, commandeering the sea-doo and driving off to ditch it, leaving the body to float. Also, rxm_9600, Halo was not the topic of this thread, making that post spammy. |
ZOMG SHAME ON YOU RXM_9600
Well some shoot 'em up scenes are required, that's when you screw up! And even Agent 47 has to screw up once in a while, or there wouldn't be much suspense to the movie. Apparently we have here two opposing opinions: one is that the entire movie is a shoot 'em up, one that most of it is sneaking. WHICH IS TRUTH? I'll have to find a script and read it. |

good news then if thats the gist of this new script, although Uwe boll may activate his movie raping radar and try and get the job for director. |
