Black Mage=Al Bundy?
 

I was just thinking about it...


Is BM a parody of Al from Married with Children? I mean, the similarities are staggering. Both have a thing for red heads*Al did before marrying Peggy* BOTH of their universes hate them and wish to bring as much pain and suffering as possible, both work/worked in a womens shoe store, both smell bad...


It's rather odd. That and BM-Bundy Mage.

I'd like to say happy conincidence. You could probally add that BM is a homocidal murderer who would kill millions (if given half-a chance) for no reason, but who's to nitpick like that?

You forget that Al makes death weapons in his spare time.


See the shoping spree episodes for the proof; he turned a normal shoping cart into a Cart O Death.

Of course, thinking now, I relize parodies usually have similar lines to their real counterparts. Such as uttering catchprases, or displaying similar habits.

So, I doubt it.

A bit of a stretch, but BM does act alot like Bud Bundy when it comes to women. Only he's less successful.

Gah, there are many many people who act like buffoons in front of women. Happens in lots of shows/movies/etc.

Well, they both are rather sarcastic and dry bastards with immensely horrible luck.

Uhm, forgive me if I'm mistaken, but you've mentioned this theory before. Doing a quick search, it comes up often in the 709 comic discussion thread.

Besides, BM is incompetant, so luck seems to have has less and less to do with it every comic...

P.S. Why did I always think it was Ted Bundy, not Al Bundy Burk/you/him was/were talking about? I've seen Married with Children before. *shrugs* Eh... not much of a difference. Al Bundy, if that's his character name, since I can't even remember that show, murdered television. It's a rough difference, but not noticable enough to matter.

P.S.S. Does anyone else hate those commercials of Married with Children on TV? It's weird seeing the wife from Simple Rules with big poofy hair. *shudder*

If anything, Black Mage is a lot closer to Ted than Al Bundy.
