hmm, i would say, Megaman myself, becuase he's always been able to surpass Zero in almost every game since X on the snes, right?

e-man2001 02-01-2004 12:23 PM

yeah, basically we need a timeframe.
Cuz after the first, X has totally out perfromed zero on countless occasions.
Heck, even in the first... he has the hadoken!!! He can defeat anything with that.

* SPOILERS FOR THE MMX AND MMZ SERIES *

X spent nearly a century trying to contain a supposedly super-powerful Cyber Elf that, when it finally did escape, was soundly defeated by Zero in a matter of minutes. Either X considered it to be a serious threat to him, despite the fact that Zero didn't have much of a problem with it (indicating that, in his own estimation at least, he's weaker than Zero) or he's an idiot.

Zero was also able to lay the royal smackdown on what was supposed to be an exact duplicate of X, but after the fight he mentioned that the duplicate was, in fact, weaker than the original X, despite the fact that he displayed many abilities that X never had.

Then there's the fact that X has fought Sigma half a dozen times and still hasn't managed to defeat him, while none of Zero's enemies has ever shown up for a second round.

Megaman X definately has more abilities than Zero, but his attacks are much slower (they must be charged to show any power), and Zero has a much stronger basic attack. Other than that, not much difference.

You gotta love Zero, man. I prefer his sword-slahin antics over X's shooting parts, anyways. It's too easy with X.

As for an actual battle, I'd say Zero, seeing that he has a higher Hunter Ranking in most games. (it's gotta mean something...)

IHateMakingNames 02-01-2004 02:37 PM

Why is there an 'other' category? It's a fight between two people, don't encourage people to bring in more characters...

X has unlimited potential for upgrades. Also, everytime I ever fought Zero with X, I kicked his ass royally. Also, Sigma is a virus, it is impossible to really kill him, and Zero tried to kill him too. Zero lost to Sigma's henchman in the first MMX game, while X killed the original Sigma. The fact that Zero's enemies don't come back like Sigma just means Zero's enemies are pansy programs.

That's like saying, 'all the normal soldiers shot by Switch didn't come back, but Agent Smith kept coming back, so Switch must be stronger/better than Neo.'

Dante Reborn 02-01-2004 03:58 PM

Yeah, I'm gonna go with ol' X on this one. He's just too awesome with his upgrading capacity.

Their strengths and weaknesses are pretty hard to compare. In an enclosed boss stage, zero "should" be able to control the fight with X. Overall, though, my opinion is that X is by far the stronger of the two in general. Zero can slash right through a very heavily armored robot, but Megaman X has survivability and versatility on his side. Zero has raw power, and I'd say speed...

And the later in the series you go, the more enhanced X supposedly is over zero. By-the-way is Zero at all related to protoman in any way whatsoever? Even an ancient descendant of the program or algorithm?
