Lies with a touch of truth...

Caught some of the mofos behind the Nigerian scam... Thoughts? I'll post mine later on... Oh what the hey. WE FINALLY CAUGHT SOMEONE FOR THIS!!! And it only took 10 years... :fighter: |
Too bad they were caught when internet users are skeptical enough to check their e-mail and not fall for such scams. Now, back in the day, this would have been really good news, but now, its kind of dated, but its still good to know that some scum-bags are feeling the wrath of justice. Oh, and not just any justice, but the tasty, fruity flavor of SUPER-INTERNET JUSTICE!!! Yes! delicious.
Oh yeah, sorry for sounding like an idiot. |
that scam's been around for years now. i've gotten an e-mail like that and replied telling the person what a moron he was given how long the known scam had been around

...Wow... a professor. You'd never expect a professor to be that stupid, eh? Anyway... it's kinda nice that these scumbags are being put away, but on the other hand... who's stupid enough to fall for this, really? And do we really want to protect people stupid enough to fall for it? |
I got one of those emails. My reply was a bit... harsh.
Something along the lines of "Any dumbass who has several million dollars doesnt need to email random people to get money out of the fucking country. Buy yourself a fucking plane. PS: Go eat a wang." :D I love my "nigerian" scam artists. And they love me too, dontcha? N: Yes, master... :D I remember there being a site about a guy who talked about his exploits with a "nigerian" scam artist, and how he pulled it along for a while and tricked him into saying a bunch of stuff and including a bunch of people. And... these people werent really who they said they were, just the guys friends. Was priceless. They even had T-shirts and stuff. |

he's probably one of those professors who had a lot of book smarts but an absolute 0 street IQ. basically the lack of street smarts kept him from knowing when he was being scammed by someone. or he fabricated his ph.d edit - also it's easy to pull off a scam like this. just mail it to 1000 people and at least 1 is bound to be dumb enough to fall for it |

If we don't protect "them," (it could possibly be you someday), then the law is not enforced. If the law is not enforced, then it becomes obsolete... and essentially legal. That sets a precedent, allowing for far more elaborate scams that people can pull off with no fear of repercussions. Just because these people were somewhat foolish to fall for the scam does not mean that what the scammers did was totally wrong, very illegal, and should not be brought to justice. If we don't enforce the laws, no matter how stupid we think these people are for falling for it, then we end up paving the way for many, many more people to get hurt. |

I heard that a former U.S. Offical (something to do with miltary budgets) fell for this scam.
You think that they would find these people sooner though cause of there internet service providers servers clogging. Spiffy Has Spoken. |
Actually, last fall, my grandparents wanted me to help them with their E-mail. Appearantly they wanted to stop getting spam (and who doesn't). The thing was, they decided to keep the spam as evidence for senile grandparent like reasons. So I look through all of the mail they had and I saw something odd. The original love bug. My grandma didn't know what it was and almost opened it. I had to grab the mouse away from her... almost gave her a heart attack. Just goes to show that people who don't know what they're doing when it comes to computers probably shouldn't have them.
