PS3 vs XBOX 360
the famous PS3 and XBOX argument. Which do you think is better in all categories (i.e price, games, graphics)?
Personally, i think they are both pretty evenly matched althoguh the XBOX has the advantage due to earlier release date....less violent might i add |
The Xbox is the Guy that always talk about only 3 different topics "Halo" and "Looks-like-halo" or "Sports that arent halo"
The Ps3 is the Guy that always tells you that he is going to introduce you to his awesome hot gorgeous sister, but you never see her... And This Thread is sommething we dont need but keeps on comming =B |
if you look at it purely on those three areas
Price- 360 Games- 360 Graphics- PS3 (though I have yet to see a game that proves it) But I dont think anything is worth that 600 dollar price tag. Not even if it had super smash brothers. |
To keep my post from going too far off topic, I've gotta say that anything that is worthwhile on the Xbox I can get for my computer (by completely legal means) and anything that is worth while for the PS3 will still be worthwhile 5-6 years from now when the price is around that of my Wii.
That being said...Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!! |
Yeah, we don't really go for these console-vs-console threads much. It's not like their sales are reviewed after a year and only the best-selling one may remain on the market. Some people prefer one, some the other and as long as the companies don't go bankrupt everyone's happy.
Feel free to discuss the issue, but I have to stress that if the thread turns into a fight, off it goes. That includes statements like "PS3 is the 'winner'." There is, strictly speaking, no win or lose here. |
Meh, my stance on the 360 has lightened severely. It's given a damn good standard console experience, complete with the ever-awesome Gears of War and Dead Rising, and doesn't require DDR-style cramps and fatigue like the Wii does.
The PS3 honestly feels to me like it's shot itself in the foot. As if Sony's PR wasn't bad enough, it's also slapping a 600$ price tag on a console that won't have the full function of it's capabilities taken advantage of for the next like year, maybe two. I'm getting a huge vibe of "Fix what's broken" from the PS3 so far. I'm also heavily disapproving of the giant shift towards PC. Sorry, but updates to fix problems after the 'complete' device has already been released just screams "Windows" to me. All in all, the 360 is a great, next-gen standard console experience, the Wii is a blast, and the PS3 is just going down a dark path. Don't get me wrong, I really do like what SCEA can do, but I'm not willing to drop that kind of money to do it. |
Hey man, keep the Wii out of this, this is clearly a discussion of the BIG BOYS!
And between the two, it's a tough call. Given different release times, the 360 has its foundation laid out with some hard-hitting games on the market. But if I can try to recall the 360 launch, it's not so much different from the PS3. What great games taking advantage of its capabilities did it have? Kameo? Don't make me laugh. Now much later in the 360's lifespan we've got wicked games like GoW and DR. Did I think the 360 was a great console in the first 3-6 months of its life? Heck no, actually I was thoroughly unimpressed. Now, I love it. All I can really hold out for is the PS3 to follow the same suit, and it is inevitable some good titles are going to come for it. Even without those though, it's a strong piece of hardware worth its price tag. I have to question, because the argument is so often 'it's so expensive no one can afford it,' actually how many people have sat down and played the PS3 for an extended period of time (20 mins at EB Games being excluded), and used its other functions. There's another drawback to the machine, though. You really do want HDMI and a HDTV, then you really get the experience, even with its launch titles. Resistance looks great, maybe a little below GoW, on a regular component, but it's spectacular. The drawback, of course, is a really nice TV and cables will probably run upwards of $1500 on sale. In conclusion, I like both. I want both. I don't really enjoy pitting them against one another. Actually, I've taken to disliking pitting consoles against each other at all since I've already got a rabid Wii fan for a close friend and I've got to put up with his incessant ranting and slandering. |

I personally couldn't care less about HD content. I dont have anything that can show HD so its pointless. However there are other advantages to the increased power. But what it comes down to is games. As a rule multiplatform games look about the same on all consoles. But back to games. As it stands at the moment PS3 is lacking in this area. Only must have launch game for any system was Zelda. So it is abit unfair to compare the two at the moment. Lets all remember the biggest reason to choose one over the other. You can actually FIND a 360 |

Everybody thinks that more power = just better graphics... the Wii -can not- have games longer, with more music, more voices, bigger maps, more options and a LOT more crap* (*= Good Crap) than the Xbox AND Ps3... part because its High level Midia (More Space = More Stuff possible), part because of processing power ( More Stuff + More Processing Power = Less Loading)... The Wii -IS- Good, and it has de advantage of Being Gamecube 2.0... so just like the Xbox 360, even the Wii being New... people already know the tricks and ways to produce games and using more of its power... On one hand, the Xbox has Gears Of War... on the other hand, it took 1 year to get to that level in ONE game, and that is the game everyone talks about... so call me "meh" about it... On the Other hand, the Ps3 is taking baby Steps towards greatness, when it should be able to run towards it... |
Speaking of load time I was just reading something on that. The PS3 format has a flaw, its slower, loading takes longer. They have developed a technique to counter act that by double encoding. In other words they have the same data twice on one disc so the processor can find it more quickly. This does however mean the data on the disc is cut in half. Now their format does hold enough so that double encoding still leaves plenty of room. But it does lessen the advantage.
