Anyone reading any good manga?
 

I've been slowly creeping my way back into anime and manga (well manga more so then manga), and I'm reading three books at the moment (GTO, Eyeshield 21 and just started reading Dragon Ball) and I've been looking to read a few more, but it's kind of tough to find new manga that's a good read (I tried the full metal alchemist manga and hated it, which is odd since the show is actually good), any suggestions?

If you like gory violence and wierd aliens, then I suggest you read GANTZ.

Well ignoring the obvious manga turned anime ones I have a few. S-CRY-ed is very different from the anime but I am unsure I should suggest it. You have to have a certain taste to like it. But it does have the funniest fight scene ever. Fight is serious, but the diologue is just... well I wont spoil it.

Hellsing and FLCL are also different in manga form. But the feel of the manga is the same as the anime so if you like the anime then read it.

But a few of my new favorites are Black Cat and D. Gray-man. Both of Tite Kubo's works, Bleach and Zombie Powder. However if you can find it get Ph. D (phantasy degree) and Id_eNTITY. I am afraid on those two I can only give my personal opinion, they aren't very well known manga but in my opinion people are missing out.

DEATH-NOTE!!!

Easily the best manga ever.

I dont know, I read death note, it was ok but after reading it once I have no desire to do so again. I just found the death note to be really freakin cheap

Two that I recommend to others:

One Piece - You like Dragon Ball, you'll like the idea of pirates and various techniques plus quirky humor.

Battle Royale - Still the reigning champ when it comes to gore. Same guy did Baron Gong Battle (unknown right now after Battle Royale) which has over the top violence.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD READ PEACEMAKER! Seriously thouhg, putting my fanboyish worship aside, it ahs great characters, awesome fights, nice art, and some really good humor. It is also roninlicious, so yeah.

A lot of the stuff suggested sounds pretty good, I'll definitely check some of it out. I must say though I can't get into the battle royale manga at all, I read the book and loved it and the manga is just such a cheap version of it imo.

I've only been reading the Fullmetal Alchemist manga, and since you don't like it I'm of little help to you (it's good though :p). On a side note, how far did you read in the series?
