Vera
 

You could hardly tell that there was anything or anyone here, it was so silent and dark that it was as if you were suddenly deaf and blind. However, both of them knew by some gut feeling that the other was there, and it was only a matter of time until one of them spoke.

"There's no point in hiding," one of them said. "I know I've caught you, and you've no way out.

The second chuckled. "Indeed you do. So, what do you plan to do now, try to stop me?"

"That's right. You decieved to everyone, even me, and you planned to kill us all. I could never let you do that, you know that as well as I do."

The other nodded. "Of course, and you also know that I must continue and see this through to the end."

One again, it was silent, neither knowing what to say. What they both said was true, and though they'd hate to admit it there was no way for either to go back, not after all this time. Finally...

"Tomoe...I'm sorry."

"Don't be. I've chosen my path just as you have chosen yours."

A long a time ago two people of great power battled. Their names were Tomoe, the guardian of our world, and Kal, a devil in the form of a man. These two fought using the power of the Vera Stones, and though the reason is not known it is commonly believed that Kal wished to do the unthinkable, destroy the world. For years these two battled, devastating the landscape wherever they were, with neither getting the upper hand for a long time.

One day, while recuperating from her most recent battle, Tomoe looked around where she was and realized that in her efforts to protect the world she had been helping in it's destruction. The next day, with new resolve to end things once and for all, she encountered Kal.

In the final encounter Tomoe feigned defeat and used her Vera Stones to 'escape' into the Void, a vast plain of nothingness, which Kal followed her in, predictably. Tomoe then used her power to seperate his soul from his body and then shatter it.

That day, the demon Kal disappeared from the face of the planet. However, the price was the life of it's protector. It seemed that her soul had shared the same fate as Kal's, for when her body fell out of the void alongside his it too lacked a soul. The people mourned for her.

However, they were alive, and the world could be rebuilt. For that, our ancestors were grateful for.

[indent]It has been over a thousand years since the time of Tomoe and Kal, and since that time the world is in peace, but recent events, such as the reappearance of demons and sudden disappearance of the Vera stone of Fire, have lead some to believe that another Kal has appeared, and is searching for the stones in an attempt to get power. Worry fills the people, and they wish for guardians like Tomoe to appear.[indent]We are to become those guardians.


Vera Stones
In truth, there was only one Vera Stone which, before even the time of Tomoe and Kal, was broken into five pieces. Each stone is made up of one of five elements: Earth, Lightning, Fire, Wind, or Water. The stones are very focused points of magic, and whoever possesses one is said to have godly powers. To possess all would mean omnipotency.

Though there is only one true Vera stone people have found a way to create imitations of it. Using these imitations one is able to use magic, though what they may do is decided on the amount of what elements make it up.

Taez Academy
This is where the story starts, and here is where most of the the guardians after Tomoe's time are trained. Here is where the Vera Stone's Fragment of Earth is held.

Character Sheet

Name: Obvious
Age: Also obvious.
Affinity: What elements the character has the most potential for.
Specialty: Similar to classes, these determine what you were taught. Novices are not yet specialized, instead being trained the basic skills.
Weapon: Most modern weapon available would be the single shot rifle.
Level: There are five levels in the Taez Academy. The first is Master (head of the Academy), Mentor (Teacher), Advanced (Those about to Graduate), Adept (Those beginning the specialized training), and Novice. The higher the level the more powerful that person generally is.
Bio: Must include reason for being at the academy.

Now, only the basic idea for the RP has been laid down, so this should be very flexible in terms of story progression. I hope.

PS: I have no real name yet, so for now I'll be using Vera as the title.

Do we have to be mages? Or is it just like Tactics Ogre, where you have an element (Which determines how much damage certain magic does to yoU), but you don't have to use magic?

I couldn't convince you to move the avialable weapons up to a single action revolver, could I? And I should have something ready soon. Maybe tomorrow.

It'll be like Tactics Ogre. Just because it has represents potential doesn't mean there has to be a lot of it. It also helps determine the physical abilities of people.

Earth: Constitution
Fire: Strength
Wind: Speed
Lightning: Stamina
Water: Balanced

Edit: Single Action handguns are okay. It's just that they're weaker and slightly less accurate than rifles.

So tempting to be fire..... but should I try something different instead? I'll have a bio up sooner or later (we don't have a limit on how many people have a certain element, do we (well, obviously we don't want 9 fires and no waters but you know what I mean...)

What is Balanced exactly? Usually Water = Wisdom

And if Lighting = Stamina (Which I am taking as defense), what is Earth?

Ehh...what I meant by Stamina is 'energy'. Constitution I mean by how many hits one can take.

Heh...I'm bad at terminology.

I didn't choose Water as Wisdom because it's not a physical ability. I chose balanced, because out of all the elements I would find it the most likely to be the balanced.

Bleh...

What does balanced mean exactly then? More ninjay?

Name: Kith Kannan
Age: 16.
Affinity: Wind.
Specialty: Basic Skills.
Weapon: Rapier-esque swords and short swords.
Level: Novice.
Bio: Kith's parents were killed by a band of demons when he was at the tender age of ten, but a band of guardians from the Taez Academy saved his life and brought him back with them. He's been living there for awhile, but only recently has decided to become a guardian and help to save people as he was saved.
Kith is a bright eyed boy with irridescent black hair and a pair of shimmering green eyes. His frame is thin, and is somewhat frail, but he isn't weak. He just doesn't have the body type required to take a few powerful blows. He's often laughing or smiling, despite his past. In all truth, however, the death of his parents still bothers him deeply, he simply refuses to let himself feel sad. After all, he's alive, and that is the greatest gift that can be given.
This mind set is exactly why he decided to sign up to become a guardian just one year ago. Since then he's shown lots of potential with his sword, although far less with his ability to use Vera stone replicas. In all actuality, the only ones he can use with any success are the wind ones, and even those he can only seem to use to magically increase his speed. He, however, has been making up for this with his sword play, and the teachers do believe he may some day become quite skilled with the wind stones... he simply has trouble focusing on them.



Edit: You put up the element abilities as I was typing this, and I managed to guess wind right. I kick ass.

I'm being fire. Fire is always what I pick in Tactics Ogre games, so I shall pick fire in this.
