FIXED: Universe on Fire Signup!!
The prior thread attempt was giving me some problems with editing info.. deleted and restarted here:
This is a port from another forum I used to RP at. This RP was probably my best work by far and I'd like to get it started over here. The year was 2047 A.D. (anno domini). Humanity had expanded and covered every possible piece of land on earth. This led to massive land smirmishes, and eventually, the third world war. Nations collapsed on themselves as everyone began fighting with each other, and with themselves. THere was no clear line, no sides. Just one gigantic wave of destruction. Until finally, nuclear weapons were used, obliterating half of the north american continent, and sending a dust cloud into the atmosphere, covering over a third of the planet in radiated darkness. The third world war on earth proved two things. First, that mankind had grown too big for the one planet. And second, that without some new and constant form of external struggle, mankind would disintegrate itself. And so what remained of the European Union, Africa, and the Asian territories gathered together to create the Global Scientific Initiative. Their job was to find a way to answer the problem of space travel and colonization. After roughly a hundred years, there was a tremendous breakthrough. Scientists cracked the nature of the atom and brought in an era of fusion discovery. After much refining, they were able to make their greatest achievement using fusion power, a perpetual gravitic drive. Harnessing the self-replenishing power of a fusion reactor, they designed a device that could create gravitational distortions, and actually control them. Using this technology, the began exploring it's adaptive uses. Many accidents and mistakes occured before one lucky scientist, Dr. Fuchi Hokitoro, succesfully engineered an engine using the properties of this gravity device. Creating gravitational pockets around it, the engine could propel itself at blazing speeds. They went to work right away at developing a vehicle so as to start the field tests of this new device What they found was amazing. Not only did the device create a gravitational field outside of itself, but it was able to stabilize anything within the field. Their test involved sending a metallic container carrying four dozen eggs to the moon and back. Upon return, they opened the device and found the eggs intact. The gravitational field outside deflected any inertial effects to the box and it's contents. A resounding success, they quickly announced their discovery to the world. This led to the creation of a second institution, the Terran Discovery Corps. Licensed to use the technologies discovered by the GSI, the TDC began working on plans to explore the universe. Sending multiple unmanned probes to various regions of space, the TDC was able to gather an incredible amount of knowledge and information that previously was left to theories and hypothesis. Meanwhile, the GSI was further honing it's fusion technology, and simultaneously began work on terraforming technologies. Being the closest planet viable for colonization, scientists in the GSI kept Mars in mind as they began their experimentation. More and more effort went into the project while the TDC compiled a list of suitable planets they found capable of being colonized or terraformed. However, both agencies were disappointed when a GSI test went horribly awry. Trying to reach a distance outside of the milk way galaxy in only an day's time, they discovered the only drawback to their new gravitic drive. Not getting their actual probe back, they merely got back the last few minutes of data before transmission was lost. In the data recordings, it showed that for an explicable reason, the gravitational drive would create instabilities in the module it was connected to. The data showed miniature pockets of hyper gravity appearing within the created field. This went against their earleir beliefs, and caused them to put a halt on all forms of discovery until their current technologies were researched further. After many more attempts and trials, they began to piece together the true limitations of what they had found. What was discovered was slightly disheartening. For all the benefits of their near limitless fusion power, the gravitational drive was just too demanding. After more than four hours of constant use, with a speed in excess of 4xG to the tenth.(Four times the gravity of earth to the tenth power), the gravitational drive would cause a power flux in the fusion core. This flux would cause a temporary instability in the drive, and random gravitational affects would occur. The plus side was that there was still alot they could do with their technology, however they now had their limitations set down. With this knowledge in mind, they continued their research. The GSI continued to work on refining their terraforming theorums, while the TDC drew new maps with their distance barriers in mind. Deciding not to extend the possible reach of more than one jumps distance, they slowly put together a map of the universe that they felt was safe for travel experiments. The year was 2073 A.D., twelve years after the initial discovery of fusion power, the GSI released it's next big project to the masses. It had finished refinement on a process of terraforming by which a multitude of devices could be planted onto a planet's surface, and over the process of years, the number depending on planet size and number of devices used, could convert the atmosphere to one hospitable for human life. They began to work closely with the TDC to make their first actual attempt at using all their so far discovered technology. Three years went by as the two organizations put together the project, dubbed "Humanity's Will", a project that would make or break humanity's lust for the unknowns of space. The only danger was, to be able to accurately assess the mission's viability and to ensure a greater chance of success, a human crew would be needed to go and personally oversee the devices and maintain them if they should break down. This was to be the first time any manned vehicle used the fusion core and the gravitic drive. Selecting what they considered to be the most likely to survive such an expedition, the TDC and GSI assigned twelve scientists, industrial engineers, and ecologists to the team. The expedition finally headed towards the red planet in the year 2079, 3 years after the projects original launch date. This started a chain of events which led to the colonization of the solar system, and many of the planets beyond. In commemoration of the colonizing of mars, which was dubbed the next step in humanity's dominance of the universe, they removed the old addage of Anno Domini from their calenders, and started from scratch. The day the original mission to mars landed was dubbed as the new January 1st, 0 A.C. (after colonization) The year was 2176 A.C. Two Milennia had passed since mankind began it's stepping stone conquest of space. Having colonized every hospitable planet they could reach, humanity reached a grand total of 314 planets, and a population that reached into the higher tip of the trillions. Then came the single greatest threat mankind had ever seen. Since day one, mankind feared finding extra-terrestrial life. And they finally found it, and also found all their fears realized. Three planetary colonies, all on the fringe of human space, were unexplicably cut off from contact with the rest of the universe. What military humanity had that could reach the planets were sent, to discover the reasons behind the sudden silence. Only one ship ever returned, and the news it brought back was horrifying. An alien species, terrible and vast, had consumed the planets and wiped out all trace of humanity on them. The government at the time was the Democratic Alliance of Planets, a government that was very similar to the United States of old Earth. The D.A.P quickly mobilized a draft, conscripting everyone older than sixteen, and younger than forty, to serve in a militaristic fashion. As humanity's military swelled to gigantic proportions, the next wave of alien attacks came. But this time, Humanity was not so ill-prepared. Putting up one grand fight, culminating in the embittered withdrawal of the alien, humanity rejoiced. However, they new the battle was not over. The enemy had retreated back to the three planets they had originally taken from man. In a foolish manuever, the Alliance tried to unseat the aliens from one of the planets. While humanity may have suceeded in defending the second wave, their counterattack was a horrid failure. They pulled back the remnants of their fleets, and the two forces had drawn their battle lines. The year was 2216 A.C. The battle between humanity and it's aggressor had raged on longer than anyone could've ever predicted. Having wedged deeper into humanity's territory, taking thirty-six more planets since their initial assault, the enemy force was slowly over-running humanity's defenses. But the race of man was far from defeated. A new plan had been set in motion. Having long since served their purposes back on earth, the GSI and TDC had been merged into one agency after the first planet was colonized. The newly formed agency, known as the "Spatial Exploration and Research Division" or "SERD", became the foundation by which all new technologies and advancements came from. And so they were put to their full steam in searching a way to defeat the aliens that had embattled mankind for far too long. They started a genetic experiment. Taking regular humans and manipulating and enhancing their genetic code to an almost exponential degree, Serd had begun working on creating the ultimate soldier. To further augment these new warriors, they also used nano-technology interlaced with the skeletal and muscular structure inside the body. However, this pulled quite a negative crowd from the Alliance's people. Feeling that manipulation of genes was fundamentally and morally wrong, they protested. However, the alliance government insisted that it was urgently necesarry. Reaching a sort of compromise, SERD was only allowed to augment soldiers who volunteered for the operations. The main problem was the high fatality rate. For while the procedure made someone vastly superior in every way, many did not have the initial ability to withstand the painful procedures used. Another problem was that this procedure often unlocked certain areas of the brain normally remaining dormant. More prominently, the ability for psychic prowess. Ten percent of the subjects that survived showed psychic ability. However, it was untamed, and for the most part unusable. Producing a mere five percent success ratio, they found that the volunteers were slim. However, many still did come, and enough actually passed the program to make an entire fleet. In command was placed five extraordinary subjects. Not only had they survived the tests, but their psychic powers were uncharted. Made even stranger by the sheer fact that unlike many of the others, they quickly were able to learn how to use the powers. With the project marginally successful, and humanity in control of a powerful new weapon, the Alliance sought a new plan to destroy their enemy. This fleet, whose members call themselves the dragons, spearheaded a new counter offensive. This brought any enemy advance to a halt, the dragons forcefully destroying any attempt by the enemy to take a colony, or advance on space controlled by the weakened Alliance. Humanity began to celebrate, but the dragons did not join in. The leaders of the fleet felt that it was imperative that the enemy not only be stopped, but driven back and destroyed. However, the Alliance government did not agree. They believed in bottling up the enemy and awaiting SERD to produce more fleets of genetically engineered soldiers. Three more years passed, each month the five leaders of the dragons urging the Alliance to turn them loose, and each month the Alliance refusing. However, with more soldiers coming from SERD, the dragons found their numbers swelling. Soon, there was an equal number of genetically engineered soldiers as there were regular humans. And because of their special status, the five psychics assumed control of the combined fleets of genetically engineered soldiers. What happened next was both unseen, and unbelievable. In one announcement to the Alliance government, the dragons announced that they felt it was in the best interest of the Alliance for them to leave. Taking every ship piloted by a genetically engineered soldier, the dragons departed Alliance space, heading deep into enemy controlled territory. Thus began the greatest campaign since the aliens first began their horrific invasion. Surging into enemy territory with a renewed spirit, the dragons faced what they had feared, a built up force of enemy units. The two great forces clashed at three seperate locations, and the battles were the bloodiest seen in all of human history. Wreckage and death floated above the three planets that hosted said battles like a morbid asteroid field. However, even though it was bloody and horrifying, the war was going well. Planet after planet fell back in control of humanity as the dragons slowly pushed the enemy to it's limits, showing a capability for warfare that the alien armada just could not match. But with every victory, the dragons began to slowly feel the cost of their war. After nine years of continuous conflict, the dragon fleet had finally liberated the once prosperous human colonies that had fallen to the enemy. But when they returned to the Alliance, they did not get the reception they had expected. Charged with breaking various Alliance laws and abusing their military power, the dragons returned as criminals, and not the heroes they felt themselves to be. Apalled at how their own government had turned against them. The Alliance's media had done it's job of controlling the masses, and public opinion now reviled the dragons, where once they were held as saviors. The dragons refused to step down and accept the charges. Their leadership challenged the validity of the Alliance's charges. The dragon fleets moved towards the Alliance capital, and upon arrival, faced an alliance armada that outnumbered their ships in odds of six to one. Not wanting to risk an engagement, due to their already heavy casualties, the dragons turned back and left as quickly as they had came. However, the Alliance was persistant in getting the dragons to obey their demand to stand down. The dragons were persued back into the territories they had reclaimed, where the Alliance forced an engagement upon them. The two hand a half remaining dragon fleets battle bitterly against the fourteen Alliance fleets. The Alliance had gigantic ships of war, while the dragons used mostly fighters, and picket sized ships. Believing in mobility over size, the dragons had only a few command sized ships in their fleets. And so the two sides clashed. The battle lasted for thirteen hours. The Alliance, though outnumbering the dragons, found themselves entangled with superior tactics as the small fighters of the dragons swarmed the capital ship like bees and quickly caused the Alliance fleets to have to fight to just keep sight of them. The Alliance suffered three fleets in casualties before pulling out. Having only been able to destroy half of one of the remaining dragon fleets, the Alliance called for a retreat. The dragons amazingly let their attackers leave, ceasing all hostile action as soon as the ships began one by one leaving the area. Reduced now to two fleets, and between the fighting off of the aliens, and the battle with the Alliance fleets, the dragons were down to only two of the original five leaders. They claimed one of the reclaimed planets as their own, and the Alliance allowed it, but forbade them from ever entering Alliance space again. Controlling the first of the original three planets overtaken during the enemy invasion, the dragons attempt to build a society and keep watch for a possible return of the alien forces. The year is now 2363 One hundred and forty seven years have passed since the great battles and wars that had thrown humanity into a corner against a horrific enemy. The dragons had expanded to control a total of seven planets, while the Alliance was quick to recolonize the rest. Both sides have built up new forces and while no one has taken any large scale action over the past one hundred and forty years, hostilities between the two occassionally flare up. Though the Alliance leadership has continuously changed throughout the many generations, the hatred of the old Alliance senate remains. And with the genetic soldiers not physically aging, those left from the clash between their fleets and those of the Alliance still remain. Bitterness and hatred fuel both sides as they build up for an inevitable clashing. However, on the horizons, a darkness is looming. An unseen alien force moves now to rekindle it's invasion. And with humanity now at odds with itself, the aliens move into position to destroy humanity. The pieces of this board are set and moving. But does anyone know who the real enemy is, and can they discover it before it is too late. The Alliance wishes to destroy the newly formed dragon nation, which now call themselves the Dragon Republic. The dragons build up in preperation to defend themselves against the Alliance, but a dark lingering at the back of all their minds makes them aware of a possible danger. And the alien invaders come now to do what they failed to do before, destroy all vestiges of humanity and any who resist their onslaught. This is a universe on fire. |
The three sides are: Alliance, Dragon Republic, Alien armada. The Allianc does have a sub-faction. The Dragon Republic has a few, but none as drastically different and so none are overtly mentioned. Aliens, for obvious reasons, have none.
Descriptions: Democratic Alliance of Planets A rather successful and prosperous government, it has gone unchallenged and unchanged since it's foundings. Holding alot of it's structural buildup in similarity with old earth's United States of America. Each planetary colony elects a leader in charge of that planet. That leader directly controls all of the planetary affairs along with his/her staff. Those leaders than get together and elect one of them as the Alliance President. The president is in charge of the executive and legislative operations for the Alliance as a whole. S/he votes and imposes the laws and regulations than the planetary senators than filter down to their individual planets. Owning a rather large military force, the Alliance has grown weary of the Dragon Republic on it's doorstep, seeing them as a threat to the peace they had created. SERD was disbanded and it's projects were destroyed after the desertion of the dragons. Now the Alliance relies on sheer numbers and firepower to impose their military protection of their territory. ALLIANCE SUB-FACTION: Seraphim The Seraphim were first conceived in 2297 by a small portion of the Alliance government as an anti-Dragon soldier with a backup role as elite soldiers. First created by a small group of scientists, they were watched closely for the same mistakes that the Alliance had made with their original 'Dragon' soldiers. Created from genetic engineering in test tubes, the scientists hoped to avoid the pitfalls of a pure AI (which had been so disastrously demonstrated with the X-1 project) and sought to combine humanity's best martial qualities along with the fluidity and resilience of a machine. The Seraphim can count as influences base human cells, advanced nanomachines, and even the omnimorphic cells of the aliens, although of course in their innocence they really know very little of how they were made. The average Seraphim has absolutely no capacity for psychic ability of any form- the section of the human brain that allows them to do is not present in their bizarre genetics. Instead, due to the variety of cyber-organic systems that compose their bodies, a Seraphim can to a certain limited extent change their own physical structure. Seraphim are natural pilots and military crewmen for the simple fact that they do no use controls in the same fashion humans do. Instead, they simply directly interface with their console or equipment to control electronic equipment as if it were their own bodily functions. This makes them skilled, although not invincible pilots- Seraphim suffer feedback when their 'linked' equipment is damaged, and this can stun or even endanger their lives. They are also capable of some limited shape-shifting, allowing them to, for example, form basic close combat weapons from their own limbs. However, a Seraphim's edge over a human is not insurmountable by any means, and the Alliance is still uncertain of exactly how to refine their still-primitive abilities. All Seraphim are capable of both sexual and parthogenetic reproduction, making each hermaphroditic, but they require a specific chemical compound to reproduce that is supplied to them on a very strict basis by Alliance officials to curtail their numbers. Each Seraphim has a male and female personality, and their body shifts shape and nature accordingly when the corresponding personality is in control. Usually these are mildly polar, with one personality having a more 'beautific' appearance and nature, while the other has a more dark and sinister one. The two personalities also have different skills and abilities more suited to various situations, and are aware of each other and frequently converse mentally. Because of the risk of effectively trying the Dragon experiment over again, the Seraphim mind is programmed on a very basic level to have an instinctive love for and obedience to the Alliance. While they are not automata, they are thus much less likely to attempt to rebel in any way. This does not, however, mean they lack a moral compass- a Seraphim will refuse to follow an immoral order such as firing on civilians just because the commanding officer says so, and in theory it is possible for one to break their deep-layer programming for loyalty. The average Seraphim will never spend much time in normal Alliance society, and they almost idolize the civilians they are protecting that they will certainly never see never see much of. Instead, although their numbers are limited and they almost never operate without human supervision, they have created their own sub-society amidst the isolated and secretive postings that are the entirety of their lives, a mystical one that places value on sacrifice and martial prowess. The existence of the Seraphim species is a closely guarded secret among the Alliance's upper echelons- only the upper command of the military, most specifically Admiral Karlson, knows much about these secret super-soldiery. However, Seraphim have been tested in combat many times against the various pirate and terrorist threats throughout Alliance space, and in every case they have proven superior. Of their existence, thankfully, the Dragon Republic knows precious little more than the various Alliance spacers who whisper of phantom ships appearing from the ether to save seemingly doomed craft, perhaps staying for a short period to re-supply before vanishing once more into the black. In truth, the term Seraphim as a descriptor has only come of late. Originally dubbed Proteans, due to their nature as a new prototype super-human, Seraphim was given to them due to the whispers of saviors from the heavens that began to circulate in spacer traffic amidst the Alliance's civilians. Often times these saviors are Seraphim operating in limited parameters aboard modified ships, often a varient of the Hashiyama frigate, listed as "Rapier" class. This is not their limit, however. Many 'sleeper' Seraphim serve faithfully in the Alliance military aboard the various ships, awaiting the need to be brought to full alert should the Dragons attack. Dragon Republic Though the dragons that were created by SERD do not physically age, they still felt the need to reproduce and create offspring to help increase their numbers. Now spreading out over nine different planets, they have made themselves a formidable force. Due to some form of genetic coding, their offspring are born with the same genetic superiority that the original dragons enjoy. Upon reaching the age of twenty three, when the human body is considered to have reached it's peak of growing, all physical aging in the body ceases. Immune to disease, aging, and genetic disabilities, the Dragon Republic is a government filled with the best humanity could possibly offer. All dragons have a limited psychic ability. This allows them to precipitate enemy actions against them and give them an edge in combat. However, the common dragon has very limited range, and can only see the minds of those within a hundred meters of them. This would seem like a great distance to many, but in space combat, it is actually not that long at all. This is one reason why the dragon fleets choose to use fighters as their main fleet staple. Another is the sheer speed and rapid mobility of fighters. They use this to both confuse and overwhelm their enemies, as they are often outnumbered and cannot rely on sheer brute force. Unmatched on ground combat due to physical advantages over the normal humans, the dragons were often forced to fight in space, where the Alliance had a chance of beating them. Though no major battle has ever occurred, the Alliance often sends skirmish sized groups into harass and check on the status of the Republic. Alien Horde Not much is known about the aliens that came from the outer reaches of unknown space. Only that they are viscous, fast, and can not be communicated with. Before the split of the dragons from the Alliance, the dragons informed the Alliance of what little information they could garner. Acting more like a hive, the aliens seemed to be controlled by some entity with great psychic powers and control. This was one of many issues, as the aliens acted as a singular mind in their attacks, overrunning the many voiced fleets of humanity with relative ease at first. The aliens technology is what is most interesting. Their ships are actually living creatures, giant sentient vessels carrying the enemy to their destination. However, they seem to be mixed with technology, being comprised of high tech weapons and thick metallic carapace hulls. Their ground units are very similar humans in form, walking on two legs, with two appendages that extend to very sharp claws. However, their thick, jagged hides and horrific heads make them everything but human. Outside of their transport ships, the aliens primary space combat vessels are gigantic floating beasts the size of space stations. Surrounding these things are thousands upon thousands of smaller creatures. This is believed to be another reason the dragons took to fighters over capital ships, finding it easier to destroy the vessels using ships that could match the speed and tenacity of the tiny creatures that guarded the bigger floating ships. Human Weapons Weapons for both the human and dragons are fairly similar. Particle Projection Cannons. Also known as man-made lightning, sends an electrically charged blast at a specified target. Mounted on both the ships, and carried as rifles. Rail Drivers. Devices that send a magnetically charged pellet of metal at incredible speeds. Used on ships and as rifles. Particle Pistols. Rather than firing off ammo, they use a fusion clip energy cell and fire off bolts of super heated plasma at an enemy. Spatial Missiles. Missiles using a micro version of the gravity drive to propel themselves at their target. Used on ships. Human vehicles Katsblager Class Destroyers Medium sized human ship. The only capital ship really used by the dragons, it is primarily the backbone of the Alliance fleet. Only a handful are actually used by the dragons, usually in defensive positions. Armed with PPCs, Rail Drivers, and Spatial Missiles. Hashiyama Class Frigates Smallest type of capital ship. Used primarily to escort freighter convoys from a pirate attack or a surpise ambush by either Alliance or Republic sweeper raids. Armed with PPCs and Spatial Missiles. Saratoga Class Carriers Largest, but weakest of all capital ships. Can carry a vast array of fighters onboard. Has few weapons outside of the point defense lasers sprawled across the hull. Primary ship seen in dragon fleets. Overlord Class Cruisers Most powerful Capital ship in humanity's arsenal. Though the Alliance commands multiple, usually two per fleet, the dragons have only their two, each one manned by one of the two surviving psychic commanders from the original five. Ortega Class Fighters Latest fighters, designed by the dragons, though a few have been captured and are in the service of the Alliance. Comprising a hybrid fusion core capable of sustaining twice as long a drain as normal fusion engines, it allows for far long sustained combat. Also boasting a rail driver in it's compliment of weapons, it holds a superior firepower advantage over the Alliance fighters, using a pair of PPCs and a rail driver, along with two racks of Spatial Missiles. New gravitic design allows for unparallelled manueverability. Orion Class Fighters Staple Alliance fighters. Slower and less armed than their dragon counterparts, the Orions have thick armor. Able to take twice the beating of their dragon counterparts, the Orion class fighter is far more durable in fights where it becomes a battle of attrition. Carries a pair of PPCs and a pair of spatial missile racks. Powered Armor Developed by the Alliance in response to a possible threat on the ground by the overly superior dragons, the Mark XVII powered armor is a staple for any infantry division in the Alliance. Boasting a PPC on one hand, and a pair of plasma pistols on the other, the Powered Armor can be a fierce competitor to the faster, more agile dragon infantry. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alright. here's the character creation process. Name: Sex: Hair: Height: Eyes: Dragon Callsign(if applicable): Job: Fighter/Infantrymen/Ship's mate/civilian job. Personal Bio/Info: History: I.E. Was your char one of the survivors of the orginal dragon fleets, or was s/he one of their descendants. Primarily fighters are going to be the staple of the dragons. However, there will be much RP going on in the command ships of the dragons, as that is where the leaders will be. Mine will be coming shortly after this post. editor's note: I edited to clarify a few things concerning creating characters on other sides. A note for Seraphim: Seraphim have the ability to morph at will, but consider their limitations close to the T1000, they can not morph into something like a missile or a bullet. Their carapace like skin will be hard enough to make a fashionable blade, but they can't make themselves into something as complex as a weapon system or something. A note for Dragons: I wish to point out that expanded mind control and all the more advanced dragon powers are going to be limited to Aiden and Ryukaji. Surface level telepathy is just that. Advanced precognition and battle perception. Basic level telekinesis, telepathy, and pyrokinetics will be permissable in their infant stages. I.E. The dragon won't have alot of control over it and will have to focus for any real result. As the story progresses your character will start to gain more control on their power, especially if they get continued exposure to Aidan and Ryukaji, who are just dripping with power. Edit: Releasing some basic information on the three sides. This summation will hopefully answer basic questions on what they can and can't do, their strengths and weaknesses. Alliance Abilities: Diversity: While humans can not possibly excel at certain skills to the ability of Dragons, their lack of reliance on Psychic talents to help them has made them more versatile and adjustable. They can generally be very good at a variety of talents whereas Dragons tend to like to focus on one or two skills. Alliance Soldiers have the ability to fill any role a situation calls on, giving them wide adaptability and versatility. Morphology( Seraphims Only)- Seraphims have the ability to form basic tools and implements using their mild omnimorphic capabilities. While not able to produce anything complex, they can form basic things such as blades, wedges, clubs, or other basic instruments. Strength: Alliance Seraphims have given the military a new weapon to use against the Dragon Republic. Possessing nothing in relation to psychic talents, this gives them strength and weakness. While not able to sense their enemies, they are wholly immune from outside psychic influence. Able to stealthily avoid Dragon psychic detection, they also present Dragons with the inability to read or predict their movements in battle. This psychically blinds the dragon and can often cause some disorientation to the Dragon soldiers. Weakness: The Seraphim are still few in number, and the Alliance has never really recovered from the Great War and the Dragon Exile that followed. Their fleets are fierce and numerous, but nowhere near the strength required to hold off against a full scale invasion. Regular soldiers are susceptible to latent psychic prediction and battle precognition in Dragons. On the ground, the massive forces of the Aliens has been known to render planets asunder within days. Dragon Republic Abilities: Latent Psychic Awareness- all Dragons have the latent ability to sense living creatures near and around them. This gives them the ability to immediately know if there are enemies present and how many in number. Battlefield Precognition- With the ability to detect living things comes the ability to glean surface thoughts. Though not able to read the deeper thoughts of a human mind, the Dragons have developed the ability to sense what their enemies are about to do in battle and precipitate it with their own actions. Strengths: Dragons have the unsurpassed ability to become beyond human at their jobs. Their rigid and constant training makes them continue to sharpen their skills. However, they are restricted by their methodology. Because every Dragon serves a purpose, they generally have only surface level knowledge and abilities on things outside their expertise. A Dragon Engineer, for instance, would not be the best choice to command a ship, but can bring an engine online using tape and plastic. Their psychic powers have also begun to manifest in the older generations in ways beyond the latent skills. Some have been reported to display skills similar to their two Dragon Leaders. These reports remain limited to a select few individuals, though the list has slowly grown over time. Weaknesses: The Dragons have an almost instinctive reliance on their psychic abilities. Conditioned to use them in combat reflexively, they have adjusted to using them every moment of their live. However, no Dragon save their two exhalted leaders possess anything beyond the basic form of developed psychic talent. Aliens Abilities: Omnimorphology - The Aliens genetics are made of omnimorphic cells. They can form themselves into any shape or design that's needed at the time. This caused mixed reports during the onset of the Great War, as the Aliens appeared as any of a thousand different shapes and forms. As of such, no attempt to capture a live Alien ever succeeded. Psionic Emissions - Through some process of cellular consumption, Alien creatures have the ability to form a simulated lasic energy device. It discharge psionic waves at their target. Their ships have larger version of this and can do tremondously devestating damage to larger targets. Due to the process involved, there are some issues regarding targeting, creating the need for smaller, faster creatures to take care of the more agile enemy soldiers and ships. Strength: The Aliens have a horrifically brutal ability to reproduce themselves at lightning speeds. Using natural resources, they consume and create units, reproducing battle lines with relative ease. This made them seem unstoppable during many battles of The Great War. Spreading like a disease, they consume the land and use it to fuel their destructive purpose. The Creator, their mastermind, has never been seen on a battlefield. As such, it is impossible to cut off their command structure, making routing enemy command impossible for Alliance and Dragon forces. Weakness: Due to their inherent psychic nature, it is easy to disrupt their functionality by introducing an opposing psychic mind. Their continual broadcasting to and from their Creator has also caused them to be easily detected and read by creatures of similar psychic capabilities. If they do not here from their Creator, they begin to display confused and sporadic actions. Also, their weakened minds can be overridden by more powerful creatures in a closer proximity to them than their Creator. |
A note:
On the aliens. Their weapons are psionic lasers. A mix of psychic energy and lasic energy. On the dragon leadership. One of them will be invite only, and I control the other. Sorry for not adding that. Here's my Char info: Name : Aidan Askowan Sex : Male Hair : Flaming Red Height : 6'2 Eyes : Dark Blue Dragon Callsign : Bahamut Job : Leader Personal Bio/Info: The first person to ever become a dragon, Aidan feels it is his responsibility to lead and protect his people. Having long been spurned from the echelons of normal humanity, Aidan has found himself forging a new destiny within the dragons. His incredible psychic powers have given him much foresight into things, and made the biggest difference during the many battles across the various planets. His ability to actually alter and confuse the minds of the aliens across great distances caused much confusion and was the dragons' greatest weapon. However, guilt also burdens him, as he blames himself for not finding a way to save the three of his closest and most trusted friends who fell in the many battles. He also blames himself for not being able to peacefully resolve the differences with the Alliance. Recently, he has begun to have disturbing dreams, and knows that something dark is waiting around the corner. This has further increased his desire to end the conflict with the Alliance, one way or another. History: Rising to the top of SERD's list of successes, Aidan was virtually unmatched in all fields of ability, even among the other genetically engineered humans. Desiring to see his abilities in practice, he was immediately burdened with the leadership of the dragons. Finding the difficulties of command a constant challenge, Aidan was pleased when four others that showed similar levels of ability were entrusted to him to help him share the load of command. The five of them became good close friends, partly because of their psychic connection allowing them to basically read each other's minds, and therefore predict their moves and best compliment each other. However, his successful career in the Alliance was cut short when he and the entirety of the dragons left to pursue the enemy to the bitter conclusion they had made. It was both good and bad fortune that the dragons succeeded. While they wiped out the aliens and their invasion force, they themselves became seen as a threat to the peace. Using loose-strung charges and a media frenzy to control the masses, the Alliance attempted to unseat Aidan and the others and disband the dragons. However, there was no having it, as Aidan left Alliance space and handed the pursuing fleets a resounding defeat. Shortly after, the dragons created their republic and spread to six more worlds. And to those seven worlds they have stayed. The few limited engagements they have waged with the Alliance have had mixed results. Neither side can easily unseat the other, nor do they have the resources to wage the kind of war needed to destroy the other. Now they sit teetering on a great war that could end up costing both sides more than they are willing to pay |
Name: Darren Hestwith
Sex: Male Hair: Pure white hair, cut in a short back and sides style Height: 6'2" Eyes: Ice blue Dragon Callsign: Anantaboga Job: Fighter (space) Personal Bio/Info: out of missions he is a easy going and light hearted person but in discussions or battle with humans he is vhement and cruel towards them, his bitterness can be surprising if someone had never seen his pure hate for the human race before. History: I.E. The last of his fleet Darren fought in the last battle for the dragons freedom from the humans control, he has harboured bitter resentment towards the humans that have festered to this day. Anantaboga has been in most skermishes since the dragons split and colonisation of their seven planets, he makes it a point to play with his opponent to prove how superior dragons are to the normal humans. he is a light hearted and happy individual unless they are flying a mission against the norms as he likes to call them. |
Approved and welcome to the RP :) FYI, there's probably about 9 generations of dragons. roughly 130 years have gone by, and Dragons weren't hesitant to reproduce. So, you're char is going to be fairly seasoned, even if he does look 20ish. :)
Also, I will have the first opening post up tonight. Gonna write a lengthy intro when I get home. |
This looks really good. I really like how much backstory was put into it. I'll probably sign up, if i could get more details, like what exactly the characters would do, character sheets, etc.
Edit: Ninja'd by everything but the first post... That'll teach me to reply without refreshing the page first. Still, I'm probably going to a end up a part of this. |
hehehe.. :P It's alright. Looking forward to it. :)

ok, now that ive read the whole thing, I'm hard pressed for what race I want to be. Originally I wanted to be dragon, but it doesn't seem that it would work out well with both of you. I'm probably going to stick with a seraphim, but I'd like to know more bout the aliens if possible, like how would they be played, if they're a hive mind (Ender's Game much?), and how would it be done with so few details. It also seems a little soon to be posting the thread, I'd give it a little time if I were you

Well right now we have 2 dragons.
Basically, the Aliens have a hive-mind in that there is an overseeing being in charge that dispatches it's psychic will. The aliens themselves possess their own fully cognitive sense of individuality and uniqueness. However, the overriding will of the "Creator" is the guiding will, and so the others use their individual capacity for thought to pursue the commands from The Creator. It's like Bees in a way. They have individual thought, but they serve in a semi-autonomous fashion. Basically, I use a weapons triangle as far as what races have advantages over the others. The Aliens have an advantage over the Alliance, which have advantage over the Dragons (The Seraphims lack of the psychic controlling portion of their brain happens to make them immune to any psychic talents or abilities of the dragons.), and the Dragons have Advantage over the Aliens. I'm going to go ahead and make an edit to the racial description post and add the overrall benefits and drawbacks to the three sides. |
I'd be a Dragon Republic, but you just know everyone is gonna be picking that up.
Alliance Name: Shion Sex: Both Hair: Tinted Pink Height: 5' 11" (Male) / 6' 4" (Female) Eyes: Pale Grey (No Pupils) Job: Fighter Pilot (Male) / Battle Armor and Infantry (Female) Personal Bio/Info: Male Shion resembles a seventeen-year old boy at the prime of his youth. He has the kind of boyish charisma and charm that most girls just want to hug him and most guys just want to punch him. He has a polite "welcome mat" kind of personality and a need to depend on his other self for emotional support as well as advice. He usually gets yelled at mentally by Female Shion because of his being too trusting of strangers and his love of reading and tea and peaceful downtime. He refers to his female persona as "Big Sister." Male Shion is always in control when using a Fighter craft and is usually the one that dominates when outside of any kind of combat. Female Shion is a somewhat muscular woman with a love of booze and an aggressive appetite for keeping her male persona in line when he controls the body. She has a vocabulary that relies extensively on foul language with an "up in your face" attitude. She refers to her male persona as "Chickenshit" but she occasionally finds some other word for him just to keep things refreshing which are also pretty derogatory. Female Shion takes over the body when it's time to go to blows, which doesn't just happen on the battlefield. Probably not surprising, for all the crap she puts Male Shion through, she is the only one who gives him crap and won't let him take shit from anybody else, often taking over the body and confronting his offenders. History: Shion didn't live long before seeing his/her first pieces of real action, and with their first several successes, Male Shion seems to grow even more cuter and masochistic while Female Shion grows more out-of-control and arrogant. Still, regardless of their personal faults, Shion has always been ready to deploy wherever Seraphim wants them sent to and their individual personalities perform admirably and smartly in any given situation. Dragon Republic Name: Selena McHellen Sex: Female Hair: Royal Blue Height: 6' 0" Eyes: Violet (Right Eye) and Red (Left Eye) Dragon Callsign: Gungnir Job: Infantry Personal Bio/Info: Selena is a nineth generation Dragon who comes from great physical genes, producing a strikingly beautiful woman almost too hot for the battlefield. And while she hasn't seen serious combat, those she has trained under swear that she's ready for whatever the Alliance or Alien Armada have to throw. She is kind and collected, and spends a lot of her free time perfecting her swordfighting skills. To her, the sword represents her loyalty to the republic and her preference for close combat. She likes long barefoot walks on the beach, delicious and filling food, and gifts of well-crafted katana and broadswords. History: There is little to Selena's history which makes her stand out from most other "groundpounder" infantry, except for perhaps her speed at which she went from a bright-eyed recruit into a readily deployable soldier. As for all untested warriors, the leadership has the same cliched "high hopes" for her as they do for just about anyone else. Alien Armada Name: Sek'rai Sex: Female Hair: Jet Black Height: 6' 5" Eyes: Polluted Violet Job: Infantry Personal Bio/Info: Sek'rai is an experienced soldier who has served the armada dutifully and admirably and is more than willing to take any mission if success means that she would receive personal praise of any kind. She bears a deep-seated hatred for all humans due to the defeat the Dragons handed them when the Dragons liberated the human settlements they controlled. She longs to make them bleed for that embarrassment. History: Sek'rai was one of the first of the armada infantry to see personal combat against the humans. After they had claimed the first three worlds that the humans were populating, Sek'rai was stationed as a reserve soldier when she really would have wanted to help the vanguard claim the other planets. Then, almost without warning, she was forced along with many others to abandon the original three planets they had claimed at the start. Still steaming from that defeat, Sek'rai would do whatever it takes for a chance to put down humans like sick dogs. |
