So... Super Bowl

Everybody else seems to be talking about it, so I thought I'd get the peep's at 8-bit in on the discussion. What's your opinion of What justin and janet did at the super bowl?

Mike McC 02-04-2004 10:00 AM

Yeah, that was certainly the highlight of the game when Janet Jackson 'poped out' during half-time there, judging by how much people are talking about it.

I hear that the NFL is not happy.

I also hear that it was the most TiVoed thing in the history of TiVo, with all the rewinds and stuff like that.

Well, it's a breast. A naked breast. People of the female persuasion tend to have those. Roughly 52% of the population have already seen one for sure (or will at a later point). The remaining 48% will with some certainty at some point in their future (though, bummer if not, I admit). It is a part of the human body, and not the worst one to appear on TV, either. Imagine, for example, the goatse guy jumping out at prime time and doing his thing.

What I'm getting at is: There are far worse things to appear on TV and far more important ones to raise a fuss about.

Flarecobra 02-04-2004 10:39 AM

To be honest, I'm starting to get a bit sick of hearing about this. I mean, it lasted for less then a second, and people made a huge fuss over it. I mean, come on, it's live tv, do you think they have time to get the pixels up? Nope.I mean, some people it's like "Oh my goodness there's explicit nuditiy on national TV!!!"

batgirl 02-04-2004 10:55 AM

Oh no, it's a naked boobie! Someone call the FCC! Come on, like Flare said it's livce TV. Yeah, it happened. Yeah, she had a flower thingy over her nipple. Who cares? Seriously, it lasted literaly for a second. Hence all the TiVo-ing, so people can watch it over and over again while zooming in and whatever else TiVo does. I am so sick and tired of hearing about it. This isn't the first time boob has been shown and it won't be the last.

Meister 02-04-2004 10:57 AM

Not to mention her nipple (which, I understand, is regarded the most offensive part for some reason) was already covered by some taped-on beer mat or something, which in itself leads to certain conclusions about the event being (blatantly) staged. Or did I miss something and it has become fashionable to wear stickers on your nipples underneath your clothing?

Jack of Spades 02-04-2004 10:58 AM

It's not that big a deal! It's not like he stabbed somebody or reincarnated Satan! It's just a fricken' boob! Only old people would really care anyway."*gasp* A Boob! help me great communist of the FCC!"

Mike McC 02-04-2004 11:20 AM

Wow, I'm glad I'm not you people. I'm amused by the whole thing. It's funny to me. I mean, the situation, the reaction, and the things yet to come of this all adds to the intricate web of the grand joke for me.

So come on, step back, and just point and laugh at everyone and thier reactions.

Gramcrackered 02-04-2004 12:18 PM

I just feel sad for Janet Jackson. How desperate for recognition do you have to be to stage such a pathetic publicity stunt?

Outbounder 02-04-2004 12:36 PM

The reason that there is such a big reaction to it is not really what happened or whether it was on live TV or not. The reason is what event it happened at. It was the Super Bowl. Little kids watch this game. Parents don't expect to have talk with their kids about something like that watching something that has pretty well become a national holiday. As gramcrackered says, it was a pathetic publicity stunt, because her career is dying. I was surprised that she was the star of the show, because I haven't heard shit about her in years. I actually missed what happened, because I don't watch the halftime shows anymore because they suck. There's too much focus on this music crap for a football game. That's the reason the Super Bowls usually suck. They have so much extra time before the game, and at half time to wind down and lose their adrenaline. It's a football game, not a damn concert.
