Win XP Pro hack
 

People, I have a problem. I got XP Pro for my downstairs computer and the access key to activate it doesn't work. DAMN YOU MICROSOFT!!! If anyone knows of an access key generator or a way to bypass this it would help because I dont want to have to buy another OS disc just so that the bastards at windows wont lock out my computer. Thanks ever so much and Vista is really buggy so wait until SP1.

A) You have a legal copy and can probably contact Microsoft to get a working key.

or

B) You have an illegal copy, and are a bad person you criminal you, and shouldn't ask for illegal things on NPF.

At least, those are the two possibilities I see.

All things depending, you might not have the system requirements to run it. I know Vista is a total ram hog (my desktop wouldn't even be able to run it), but I've got XP Home on this (my laptop) and it runs fine. Professional might require a lot more RAM or some other thing. Or could it be an internet authentication problem? Just throwing stuff out here. Without more info, I have less of a chance of actually helping you. :sweatdrop

You need to call Windows phone tech support to get your CD key working.

It's just a failsafe that doesn't do anything. Takes all of ten minutes.

That's what I had to do for my laptop. For some reason the key they gave with the computer failed to work, so when I called them up, I got a new key for it, which then worked. Took less then 10 minutes total.

Plus, if that copy of XP has been installed/verified more than 3 times, the key will no longer be valid. Just call Microsoft tech support, they'll set you up with a new one. It's what I hd to do when I got my new PC, and gutted the old one for parts.

I've got plenty of RAM because I actually installed it, I just cant get the access key to work. It asks for a key that doesnt work so the "trial period" can end. And I thought that Pro could be installed on multiple PCs because it is like the corporate edition. If no then I might just have to buy a new XP pro and use the access key there. If anyone can please just get me a keygen instead of getting "legal" things, that would really help. I just want my XP to work, is that too much to ask?

More to the point though, you can't just get a keygen for XP, it's not like a CD for a game from 5 years ago. I'd suggest either A) ask The Google if you haven't already, B) try posting in the "Computer Help Thread," C) actually calling microsoft (as was suggested many times already) or D) buying a new XP disk. I'd advise against that last part though, as XP proffesional can get up to $80-99.

I recently learned that, for XP Pro to work well, you need at least 512 MB of RAM. Just some info.

I'd just get the upgrade disk, and use it. It worked fine for me.

I'll be blunt.
Call Microsoft's support number. Get a new key from them FOR FREE.
If that key has been used to activate more than three times, doesn't matter if it's on a new computer, or just reinstalling it on the old one, it becomes nullified, and you merely have to call in to get a new special key to verify it. You can have a specific copy of XP installed on up to 3 computers simultaneously, I believe. But seriously, call them. The number should pop up in the verification dialog (the one you enter the key into). Takes 15-30 minutes, and you just have to listen to someone with an Indian accent tell you a bunch of numbers and letters. The guy I talked to didn't even have that thick of one.
